Ive been on merhadone for 3 years. I went from 105mg (really 140 because i was abusing my take homes) down to 3.5mg and i'm now 60 hours sober from methadone. It is now 10:14pm. By 10am I will be 72 hours sober and will start suboxone. Ive been on meds to help with the transition and havent felt to bad at all. Low energy of course, but could be the muscle relaxers or the Hydroxyzine thats helping me transition. I pray that anyone reading this, and even myself, will get through all of this. Someday, we will look back and cry or smile. 3 years ago I never thought id be off methadone but here I am. 😊

@bradpnw1897 I am so sorry I did not see this until now. I was able to make the change with ease. I have anxiety and was able to do this, so can you. I thought it would be hard, it wasn't. It was more mental then anything. Sounds like your on a smaller dose of methadone which you could probably stop right now and feel minimal withdrawals.
Man I hope. I hope I can get my strength and health back I was so damn strong and had so much stamina I want back. I'm on 15 mg now from 95mg for 5 plus years been going down 1mg every other week. What should I do to get back to normal work so I can afford my bills? Thinking about sublocade shot.
I have been on both and can say both of them are addicting. Methadone definitely took longer to taper off with more withdrawal symptoms. Everyone is different and should do what works for them.

A friend of mine would give me a sip of her methadone so I wouldnt be sick from not having a suboxone that I had gained a physical dependency on. The methadone worked about the same as the quarter of an 8mg strip I would take daily. What I have learned is if you can not take anything at all youre better off. A physical dependency is like having a shackle on your ankle that has a heavy ball attached.

I'm on 120 mg of methadone now. I was on subs for 10+years and relapsed on the dirty 30s (fentanyl) sub didn't help, so I did methadone... worse decision I ever made... I'm on my knees begging and looking for a way to get off as fast as possible and back to my subs... quality of life is horrible on methadone... it's because of the rules and how difficult it is to get.. .I like the idea this one doctor put out in a TH-cam video, using an opiate to get through a big chunk of it, first 9 days, and then 24 hours nothing before switching to the subs... that sounds like the BEST way... I've tried other ways... all unsuccessful, and I don't want to spend months or years tapering... only problem is, finding a doctor that has enough compassion, and knowledge to do something like this. good luck be very blessed, be a blessing
I was also on 120mg. I stopped taking it cold turkey and after about 5 or 6 days I starting taking kratom 3 times a day. Usually 6grams to 8 grams 3 times a day. I did this for 3 weeks then took 8mg of Suboxone for 5 days then I was completely normal. I felt great the whole time. Once you start feeling like crap from no methadone try to tough it out another 24-48 hours and take the kratom. That was the best way and I've kicked methadone 3 times in my life and by doing it with kratom then Suboxone the last few days was the most comfortable way to do it. Hope this helps

im on level 7 (28 take homes) at my methadone clinic. It is challenging to get your dose correct. This video is correct methadone does give a high and can be difficult when youre working. however you can split dose so you dont peak as hard

Methadone can be prescribed by any doctor with a DEA number. I took it for 13 years for treatment of chronic pain through a pain clinic. Withdrawal was absolutely horrible and I hope I never have to take it again. I'm now taking oxycodone, which doesn't last as long as methadone but is better for me in many ways. One tip with anyone taking any kind of opioid: take magnesium oxide supplements to keep constipation at bay. I take 750 mg to 1,000 mg every night (in 250 mg tablets) and have no issues with constipation.
Sorry but racemic methadone (levo and Dextro mix)is taken once daily usually, sometimes twice, never 3times. Levomethadone is taken every 48hours. You said methadone has a longer half life.....I think buprenorphine has longer half life . That's why it's once a day. Buprenorphine has the same controls here as methadone. Biggest danger of methadone is effect on electrical signals in the heart. Long QT.

Jesus Christ I was on 80 mg of methadone a day and then only 24 hours later. Did I take a suboxane and straifht and that was the worst fucking withdraws of my life
I was just about to say this. I've never felt so dopesick in my life when I switched to subs from methadone. Don't do it unless you're tapered down to under 15mg and off methadone for at least 5 days. I tapered down to 18 mgs and went to sub doctor 3 days after my last dose. I was already sick but once that first sub hit me, it put me in the worst withdrawl you can think of. I thought I was going to die. I had no control of my arms and legs, almost like having a seizure but was fully aware of what was going on. I actually opened the car door to get out while driving 50mph on the way home for some reason my mother had to pull over and call an ambulance. I went to hospital and when they said they couldn't do anything, I left and got as high as I can just to make it stop. Never again. If you want to switch, I say stop the methadone and get on a short acting opiate for a week or 2 and then switch to subs.

it's because the sub tries forces the methadone out. I fd up and took sub very early in my methadone treatment because the done wasn't giving me enough relief... BIG mistake... worse withdrawals ever!!!!
Are you kidding me? This is terrible. At least USE the products described. Although Methadone does come in pill form, MOST clinics use the liquid. SHOW the liquid! Not some generic video of someone "taking something". And Suboxone comes as a film. You even describe it as such but, again, show some random person take some random pill.

brooo why would you start doing subs when you're already clean off methadone??? you were already in the clear. why start up a new medication?

220 is an extremely high dose. You shouldn’t need any more than 120.

See for me suboxone works a lot better for me. I was up to 150mg of Methadone and I was still feeling withdrawal. And I gained 100 pounds on methadone

Methadone sucks. You gain weight, it slows your metabolism down, it constapates the hell out of you and it’s terrible for your bones and teeth
Just please god don’t switch from methadone to suboxane without a three day interval, or you will go to some very severe withdrawal

Methodone does not last 3 days
I withdrawl within 24hr after taking methadone and I take 115mg a day going to detox a rehab in 2 weeks
Correct! Mine barely lasts until the next day. In fact, I don't feel very good in the morning UNTIL I take my dose.
A friend of mine still tested positive for methadone 4 months after discontinuing it! Yes the withdrawals kick in quick tho
it stays in your system for 1-4 days. You may no feel it but its there.
