And as someone who is just as happy to roll out a swag out the back of my stock 1975 G60, it's nice to have both extremes. I would really like to see the full retail cost of the build, parts and materials, value for money is still a key criteria for most, that said i would really like to win this truck
You know what I would love to see someone (a 4WD builder) do, just once? Is put together a build and make the fullest effort to explain things in a way that someone with no experience can actually learn from it, they could always edit the video twice and release two videos, one including breakdown of all the jargon and acronyms and the other one excluding all that for the experienced 4WD owners / mechanics to enjoy.
Good point. being in the industry for the past 20 years, you tend to do this as second nature. My apologies, because my who reason for being is to inform, and to not scare people off with weird 'industry only' jargon. I'll keep this in mind
@@PatCallinans4X4Adventures cool thanks, it was just a generalisation across all of information platforms not just your channel, as I often find ''for beginners'' type posts / videos where the narrator etc still doesnt break it down for newbies like myself. cheers
I'd love to upgrade to a v6 amarok one day. Dead right about the strong chassis and large frame. Hence being one of the most popular sprint cars for the SA ambulance service.
Hang on, you added a 650mm extension of the chassis, with all of the compromises on manuverability, handling and weight, to fit a beer keg in? Very cool build in lots of ways, but you've gone a solid step down in my books. And I'd be impressed if you got any change out of $100,000 for the build, after the Amarok...
So that's where my insurance money goes lmao. Lol this is ridiculous, ridiculously awesomely nuts. Wait till I show the misses the coffee machine idea and hhhmmm I wonder can I get Bundy in a keg? Bloody amazing what can be done, well done Pat Callaghan and everyone who worked on ur 4wd.
It would appear Pat is very busy or doesn't read this forum as he has not responded to any comments. I have a few questions. What is the GVM and GCM before and after the mods? What is the build price? as I am looking at a chopped 200 series and would like to compare my options. Is Adelaide the only place that can convert the Amaroks? Can you put a boat loader and tiny on top after the conversion? It is a beautiful build and some great ideas. I just think there could of been better use of space in the back.
Pat, i hope you arent taking all the negative comments to heart. There are so many wankers on here giving you shit for what?! You bloody earned that 4wd, you enjoy it!
Great to see something a bit different and full points for actually engineering and showing a bit of the process, noone does that, they throw 35's on a GU as a "budget build" an worry that the flares may not be legal! How the trans temps though? Did you add a cooler? I imagine the torque converter builds up a bit of heat on sand with all that weight and no low range?
Hope not! My other ones have been fine, and it's interesting how when you move the axle back, how it pushes the weight forward. So not quite as bad as it looks.
Seems odd Toyota don't have a 6 cylinder turbo diesel to compete....why the big jump from the prado/hilux 4 to the 70 series 8? Makes sense to turn to alternatives like the Amarok to address this gap.
Ahhh otis one of the original 4wd action rigs. A lengend in its own right. It should be put the museum next to milo. Btw mark is a top bloke i hope he gets a lot of work and recognition his way. And congratulations on the new truck I'm a Hilux fan but I'm loving that Rok👌👍
I think the most important question is what was the total cost involved? Lots of professionals and time and planning to have all this come together, to every Australian watching this stock 4wd turn heads when its fully finished i'm sure they all wonder how much they need to spend to get it like that if they also have a passion for off-roading.
Interesting watch Pat, some great inspiration there. You have managed to change my mind on the whole #DualCabUte scene. Will still keep my old 1HZ minimalist approach and keep it simple... Thanks for sharing, get to see some great Aussie companies there too.
So, for those people that don't get massive discounts or better yet, free products, what was the complete build cost? I've watchedca few of these 'ultimate' builds and they're all the same, extremely heavily sponsored builds that the bloke in the street would have to mortgage his house for.

I would really like to see the full retail cost of the build, parts and materials, value for money is still a key criteria for most, that said i would really like to win this truck
how can you build the ultimate 4x4 with a vehicle that doesn't contain a low range gearbox??
It's 'my' ultimate 4X4 for touring around Australia. You might be surprised where a lack of low range and a rear locker will take you
@@PatCallinans4X4Adventures I'll take driving skill + rear diff over low range any day
You know what I would love to see someone (a 4WD builder) do, just once?
Is put together a build and make the fullest effort to explain things in a way that someone with no experience can actually learn from it, they could always edit the video twice and release two videos, one including breakdown of all the jargon and acronyms and the other one excluding all that for the experienced 4WD owners / mechanics to enjoy.
Good point. being in the industry for the past 20 years, you tend to do this as second nature. My apologies, because my who reason for being is to inform, and to not scare people off with weird 'industry only' jargon. I'll keep this in mind
@@PatCallinans4X4Adventures cool thanks, it was just a generalisation across all of information platforms not just your channel, as I often find ''for beginners'' type posts / videos where the narrator etc still doesnt break it down for newbies like myself.
cheers
shockingly awesome!
Good to see something different and soo much better than the farm trucks people seem to love for some reason.
That’s an awesome ride mate !! Keen to build one like that now.
I'd love to upgrade to a v6 amarok one day. Dead right about the strong chassis and large frame. Hence being one of the most popular sprint cars for the SA ambulance service.
Looking forward to see the Bushwakka awning and your thoughts on it !
In South Carolina, I don't have any inspections let alone an engineer inspection. That's wild.
I'm moving over tomorrow. Shame Donald just banned immigration, like today! ;)
Very well thought out. Congrats
This video made me want to move to Australia just because of the pricing of 4x4s and accessories compared to here in South Africa
Try over 150k last I heard the canopy alone was 60k
Yeah, wow....
Wish you’d made a vid like this back when you had the 550
So that's where my insurance money goes lmao.
Australia is weird; many things are illegal yet modifying the chassis is allowed!
thank you for great dream detail tour
thank you for detail video
if win lotto can have dream tour take around Australia
Love you beer tap - could you provide a little more information about this is made/build?
You'll find a full video here Dan: th-cam.com/video/SVRHyRD95V4/w-d-xo.html
How nice ! Can i ask where can i find that uppee control arms and the recovery points? Greatings
5:30 Volkswagen's panel gaps are getting a bit much, aren't they?
Just got it! Very good LOL!
Looks excellent. And the total cost was / today is?
Great to see something a bit different and full points for actually engineering and showing a bit of the process, noone does that, they throw 35's on a GU as a "budget build" an worry that the flares may not be legal! How the trans temps though? Did you add a cooler? I imagine the torque converter builds up a bit of heat on sand with all that weight and no low range?
Thanks Adam, appreciate your thoughts mate. A trans cooler is definitely on the cards as we continue to modify the rig.
Good onya Pat ! Nice to see something different.
spectacular.
great build mate . plz upgrade the rear diff . she may fold/ bend
Hope not! My other ones have been fine, and it's interesting how when you move the axle back, how it pushes the weight forward. So not quite as bad as it looks.
Love it. Where is it now you've gone to Ford?
Just awesome, unfortunately I’ll have to win the lotto as this set up wouldn’t be cheap.
Insane! Now imagine you would add Seikel Portals Axles :D
Hazardbone
4wd monthly it was back then
That kegerator is out of control. This guy is too old for that! Awesome build. Life goals
You need to get the patrol back legends never die
I'll always love my Datto's. Got a G60 in my shed
I think the most important question is what was the total cost involved? Lots of professionals and time and planning to have all this come together, to every Australian watching this stock 4wd turn heads when its fully finished i'm sure they all wonder how much they need to spend to get it like that if they also have a passion for off-roading.
Nothing mentioned about putting in a gearbox with low range
That would be really an expensive rig.
Interesting watch Pat, some great inspiration there. You have managed to change my mind on the whole #DualCabUte scene. Will still keep my old 1HZ minimalist approach and keep it simple... Thanks for sharing, get to see some great Aussie companies there too.
Best build ever
Thanks mate
@@PatCallinans4X4Adventures will you be doing a breakdown on set up cost from each supplier?
An now they have just released the amarok 580 xxl
Very nice vehicle, but what did this vehicle cost in total to built?
Around $170,000
Turned out awesome, does it come with transfer case?
So, for those people that don't get massive discounts or better yet, free products, what was the complete build cost? I've watchedca few of these 'ultimate' builds and they're all the same, extremely heavily sponsored builds that the bloke in the street would have to mortgage his house for.
What a beast
