Both my first movies, Sister Act 1 scene “ I can’t be a NUN These People dont even have Sex” I randomly quote this, just make to make myself laugh or Sister Act 2- the Mary had a little Lamb Scene, with Maria. Maybe where Maria came from Mary had Dog or Kitty Cat or a Little Bald headed brother named Bob😂 I remember both of those movies, most of the lines word for word 😂
My favorite is Sister Act 2. I love the students' song @ the end of the movie. I've recorded it & when I'm in a low place, I play it & oh how my mood changes as I praise the Lord!❤
You can see the impact Whoopi has had in the world of entertainment. Every guest comes on thanking her or had the opportunity to work alongside her. No matter your age we all have a favorite Whoopi movie.
Huh? Her 2 best roles came in a 6 year window, you're acting like She's been knocking it out of the park for decades like Oldman or Denzel, Color purple, Ghost and I'll even give Her sister act, where are these other roles that Gen Z or millennials would know her from? Eddie? Burglar? Jumping Jack Flash?😂 Boomers and Gen Xers will remember Whoopi for her acting peak, to the rest She's a chick on the view Who can't even remember how she accepted the 2016 election.
@@travonmorris7976 She was in Lion king?? and WTF is Theordore Rex? There was a Cinderella in 97'??? But I did actually hear of Stella getting her groove back, ok there's 5 seeing how she did the voice of Nala at 30 or something.😂
A thing I really love about Whoopi is her humility, and the fact that she never forgets who helped her on her way in her career. You see it in the way she talks about Mike Nichols, Stephen Spielberg, Billy Crystal, and Robin Williams, among others. She gives people their flowers. I love that.
Love Whoopi’s sense of humility. I had friends back in the day who said you MUST see this one woman show, I was immediately enthralled and not surprised by her Oscar win or other success.
Whoopi is big inspiration for us kids who made it out the nyc projects. When I used to complain about my living situation my mom would tell me to look at Whoopi and how she made it out.
Whoops was *extraordinary* in The Colour Purple, almost shockingly good. But of course my favourite will always be: "you in danger, girl" 😂 Magnificent as Oda Mae/Rita Miller hahaha!
Me too- I still think of that line from time to time. 😅And the part where he wants her to donate the check to charity & give it to the nuns was hilarious.
@HelloKitty00016 lol i just got done watching Ghost (for the 47th time) and that scene still had me rolling. She did such an amazing job with that character!
Oscar Winner in 1991. Oscar Hosts in 1994, 1996, 1999, and 2002. Whoopi is a legendary talk show host and actress since her role in "The Color Purple" movie in 1985. : )
The Color Purple (1985) The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Goldberg, Best Supporting Actress for both Avery and Winfrey, and Best Adapted Screenplay, but did not achieve a single win. It also received four Golden Globe Award nominations, with Goldberg winning Best Actress in a Drama.
Hollywood Blackballed Steven Spielberg!!!! and the Cast got penalized for it…😢 Whoopi- Danny- the Great Caesar( who played Mister’s Father) Miss Avery should’ve Won 🏆 as Well as Best Picture
Time has NOT been kind to Out of Africa, and rightly so. Despite its beautiful setting, it’s something of an overlong slog and believe The Color Purple should have won. That said, while Whoopi was EXCEPTIONAL, deserved her nomination and all the praise, I do believe it is unfair to suggest she was unfairly robbed of her statue as people have forgotten that Geraldine Page gave an absolute tour de force in The Trip to Bountiful. 🙏🏻
On Oscar night 1991 I stayed up all night in the UK to watch her with my fingers crossed. To win in competition against 4 other phenomenally talented nominees in the year’s groundbreaking movies - Lorraine Bracco (Goodfellas), Mary McDonnell (Dances with Wolves), Diane Ladd (Wild at Heart) & Annette Bening (Grifters) must have been incredibly satisfying. It was one of the most well deserved wins in Oscar history, Whoopi. Those were the days.
Great Actress. She played Miss Celie and by the end of the movie she played an older and mature Miss Celie , impressive. And she was super funny and a scene stealer in Ghost.
When The View had a special episode about mentors a few years ago and everyone brought on the person who encouraged them and I remembered Whoopi interviewed director Mike Nichols ❤️🙏🏼
I love Whoopi. She has a deep well of love inside. I love when she is talking with children. I loved her in the color purple I was astonished by her performance! Some yrs ago i saw Whoopi n Joy perform their comedy act in a casino in Mystic, Ct they were both wonderful. Whoopi is a great storyteller
I love Whoopi, not because of the years of entertainment she has given us, but for her ability to own up to her mistakes. There's a lot of people that say something utterly stupid and then do an apology, but it's clear that they don't really mean it, if they even do an apology at all. Whoopi isn't afraid to say she messed up and she puts meaning behind her apology.
Whoopi Goldman is an humanitarian who roots for the goodness of all people. I just love her as a beautiful black woman who speaks the truth. I am so excited about her book. I can't wait to read it. Thank you, Whoopi for being YOU!!!! Love you.❤❤❤❤❤

Crazy how successful people can be and yet still have so much hate in their mind! Using their platform to spread bully others. Such a waste of human ability! 🤯🤯🤯
she deserved many oscars one for Colour purple was it but then she came back and earned it for GHOST! What an accomplishment W :) It is very hard work agree with her about OSCARS!
Whoopi is a Legend. I remember as a kid watching her standup specials and Comic Relief with Billy Crystal and Robin Williams. Shes come a very long way.
She’s was great in Sister Act. And she should have won an Oscar for the Color Purple. Very intelligent actress. And I like her opinions. She’s a voice of reason at this time of insanity.
So many express their appreciation of Whoopi’s impact to their careers. Much happens behind the scenes. Sometimes it’s some small action. It’s sad to read such bitterness.
i remember when mike nichols passed, whoopi cried on the show. you always remember the first person who gave you a shot.
That was so cringe how OTT her reaction was. As if she found out about his death on the show. Yeah right. She wasn’t that good of an actress.

Her humility saying nasty horrible angry things about the country everyday that gave her everything she has and has ever wanted. She’s a monster
