The best part about such a beautiful bowl is seeing how much of the log is left and how many more fantastic pieces you're going to be able to make from that!
From a big honking piece of wood, you sure did turn a beautiful bowl! I really like it. At first I was wondering where you were going with that big piece of wood. I am glad I watched the entire video to see what developed. OUTSTANDING!!!!!
It's nice to see a new refreshing approach to woodturning, I believe you are just that. Looking forward to seeing more of your truly inspirational work. I've just binge-watched all your available videos, of course I've subscribed and hit all the like buttons. Truly deserved as well. Regards and best wishes to you Martin, until your next TH-cam adventure, take care and I'm looking forward to it. T.
Beautiful work. I'd be very proud to own that bowl. What is the tool rest you use at 8:30 to take out the center bit? The holder at the end of the rest is what interests me most.
Great inspiring work! I'm ready to give the concept a try. A question on moisture content. I noticed the starting piece did not have any radial cracks as is often the case when logs dry. Do you have any idea what the moisture content was on your piece?
Thanks Tom.This was very dry, sycamore is very good for end grain turning but needs to be dried, strip the bark and seal the end grain. Also i would recommend only using acrylic finishes oil based finishes don't look good. Good luck.
In my opinion, this is your best turning yet. Beautiful bowl. Great Job Martin.
Thanks very much Jack, glad you like it! 😊
You have a true gift. You are so talented and can see a piece before it's made. It is magical to watch you

Hi Mark, thanks for thanks for your comments. Its a - Irons Tool Gate - made by Woodcut.
Fantastic piece. I have a couple of questions. What was the finish you sprayed on it and did you use and sanding sealer.
No sealer, acrylic satin varnish. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely gorgeous, well done. If I mat ask, what kind of lathe is that?
Sorry about the typo, May I ask.
Thanks Glen, the lathe is a Axminster AT508WL.
Thanks Martin, keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video.
What is the gadget on your tool rest and what kind of finish did you use. Great looking bowl.
Thanks William. Woodcut Irons Tool Gate and Acrylic varnish!

Where did you get that tool rest that you were using as a pivot? It looks like a part of a hollowing set-up.
Its a Woodcut irons toolgate. I purchased on ebay.
Very nice. I like the way you mounted the front of that bowl with the uneven edge. Subscribed! Have a look at my videos if you have some time! Cheers!
Thanks Chris and thanks for watching.
Hi what type of camera or camcorder do you use. Trying to make some videos my self. Thanks
Patrick
Nothing special Patrick, it's just an old digital camera (Casio EX-ZR300).
Good look with the videos.
