    I found your channel one night when I couldn't sleep. After watching one of your videos, I was so calm, that I fell right to sleep. I can only imagine being so talented as yourself and not have to worry about losing fingers with my clumsy self. Thank you, Sir for sharing your world with us.

    Another very well illuminated video with NO annoying music, and NO annoying volume levels. This is refreshing. I like your style of video to posts the types of abrasives and sanding sealers and such as I am not aware of this process at your level. Another cup of coffee gone. A wealth of knowledge gained. Happy Turning.

    The grains and textures of this bowl are simply outstanding - I love it! You have incredible foresight to begin with a piece of wood and create something so beautiful. Great Job!

    Thank you for starting every video with a portion showing that you sharpen your tools before every turning. For years I turned really rough looking and lousy pieces and couldn't figure out why. I started doing this and now they are very smooth lousy pieces. Oh well, baby steps!

      I'm 75 and have always had trouble working with wood until I started turning 3years ago on a old/used Delta Midi lathe!
      We're never too old to learn!

      If your eyes are ok and your hands don't shake you're never too old. But you might find it helpful to wear gloves. A lot of mature-age woodturners find the little flakes of wood tear into their skin - our skin gets thinner and more fragile as we age.

    I really like that you do such light clouted staining. So many other videos you watch, they have this beautiful piece of wood with all this interesting patterns and they just drown it out in these really dark stains. Great job as always.

    Dear David, I stumbled over your wood turning videos and simply admire how you work with the finest woods and also your vision for each project. My special moment is always when you apply oil to the surface. The wood starts to shine as if it comes to even more and brighter life. I also got to see some wood which I didnt know of. So pretty. For me thats art: to have the vision, the power, the craftmanship and the corresponding tools to make such things like you do. Your videos have also changed my perspective for any wooden object like lamp post, wooden bowls,or any other such item. Time isnt essential when crafting. I know that out of my own experience. But I craft with copper wire, beads, gemstones and wool. Please keep posting your videos. Thank you. Please stay healthy and take care.

    Una auténtica obra de arte, por la belleza de la madera y por tu trabajo para extraer y darle forma en el torno.
    Cuando vi el exterior del bowl y la hermosura de la parte superior pensé que podías renunciar al interior: era una bella escultura de madera.
    Pero hiciste un interior fabuloso, con ese color rojizo y el borde natural que recuerda los quiebres y las irregularidades de la naturaleza.
    Resumiendo: admiro este trabajo y te agradezco por compartir su proceso creativo.

      @@DavidAdamsen you're very welcome. I want to invest in a lathe. Would you suggest buying used?

    • @DavidAdamsen
      @DavidAdamsen  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Christopher Saint Germain That’s a difficult question and it would depend on the brand and the amount of use the lathe has seen. For example if the prior owner turned huge off balance pieces routinely that could wear on the bearings. But a lathe is a fairly simple piece of equipment compared to other power tools. So likely buying a used lathe could be perfectly fine.

      The epoxy and timber turnings are lovely too. A lot of them are working with unsound timber that would shatter if they tried to turn it without the epoxy.

    Another excellent wood turning, David. You definitely have a wonderful talent turning such nice pieces with only a year or two experience.
    In an earlier video where I posted a comment and I made a comment about lathes, you asked me I had any recommendations for a new lathe to buy. You indicated you were looking at a big Grizzly lathe. If you have not bought a new lathe yet, I suggest that you take a look at the American Beauty and Robust lines. They are more expensive machines, but higher quality goes along with the price tag.
    I do not handle these machines in my industrial machine business product lines, but currently looking into handling them now. I am very impressed with these machines.

    • @DavidAdamsen
      @DavidAdamsen  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! I have not bought a new lathe, and I’m fairly certain to rule out the Grizzly simply because of the poor reviews of the customer service. Yeah that Robust American Beauty is my dream lathe. I’m praying my current lathe lasts till I can get one of those. But I may go with the Laguna 2436 possibly.

    • @jarmstrong2843
      @jarmstrong2843 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Laguna you mentioned is a great machine. You should like it. I have very few service calls and warranty issues with them.
      Despite your feelings about customer service with Grizzly, they still make a nice product and are a little more reasonably priced. But customer service is very important and totally understand your concerns.
      Most of my business is in the plastic injection industry and some of the larger manufacturers who make excellent equipment sometimes have customer service issues. They are getting better now that economic conditions around country have vastly improved. My business has doubled in the last three years and I struggle with customer service Issues because things are moving so fast economically. I need to hire more people with good people skills, but a lot of younger folks these days don’t have them. And many just don’t want to work or learn the business. They just want a pay check and jump from job to job; showing me no stability as a dependable employee. Most can’t pass the drug tests that I require. I have hired retirees to pick up the slack and that’s been a good move for me. So, hopefully my customer service will soon get to be where it needs to be.

    Hey David... How about taking those maple burl cut offs and maybe a few other scrap pieces of other wood and mixing them together with some black resin & creating something resembling a mixture of wood & volcanic glass, if that makes any sense....👌😋
