  • Hi and welcome to Micks Mowers.
In this video you will see how to fix a drive problem.
This mower came in as a part exchange with the drive not working, with a quick inspection I found the gearbox to be at fault.
with a little work I was able to find a second hand one and install it.
the part only cost £9 so it was very cheap.
lets get down and dirty and get it fixed

Hi Mick good explanation of how you replaced a rear axle . Just a couple of points for everyone there are a couple of different types of cable and cable connections for the Mountfield so be careful you get the right axle for the clutch cable you have or its another expense for a cable Mick did you check the 2 bearings as these usually go especially if the gear box was shot. Waiting for the carberator video to fix the priming issue. Thanks for sharing pa

Hi David nice to hear from you on here! Glad your parts have turned up. GHS parts have been good for me. Be an interesting comparison.
I really enjoy Micks Mowers and love the appearances from Riley! I think I have watched all the videos now and always can't wait for the next one!
Anyway let me know how you get on. Must crack on with my own mowers soon. Got loads to clear. I'd like to make a video but I only have an old gopro2 and have never edited but have alot of interesting stuff. Anyway I'm rambling. Must go. A break from the rain. Had to have a brew and watch this video.
All the best to both you David and Mick and Riley.

Should have a go Al, Mower Repair Videos seem very popular at the moment , its interesting and informative to see how other Repairers do things, especially if Viewers are struggling with something in particular Themselves, and can get some Help or Tips from watching.

Yes, its worth checking Mick I have had many mowers with bent cranks and they oscillate the pull cord and vibrate as well. Another thing that causes the vibration is an out of balance blade. It could be that as well.

Good work Mick. I also had an issue with those wheels on some mowers, most have a plastic ring gear going around the inside that gets stripped out so I had to replace the wheels a couple of times as well. It's good that you found a second hand transmission, new ones tend to be a bit pricey.
