How to program mk5 VW remote key fob keyless entry using ross tech VCDS

  • Please read www.myturbodiesel.com/wiki/key... for details on replacement keys, this video only shows how to program the keyless entry, NOT the ignition key. A VCDS or dealer is required to program keyless entry. If you have a mk4, just use the 2 key method shown elsewhere to program the key. Mk6 and newer keys are programmed when the immobilizer is programmed

    Hi! I did exactly what you did in the video. Except that my central convenience does not keep the settings for two keys. It gives me the confirmation blink from the side turn signals for every key while programing, but when I return to channel 01 it shows back one key and the new key is not programmed. The new key is in fact an old key which somehow it desynchronized. New battery on and the LED on the key lights up on button press. Any help would be appreciated. Best regards!

    I have a mkv and have done everything you've done in vcds with the only difference is my original key that starts the car has a damaged remote and does not work at all. so I have a new remote that I simply attached to the original key and immobilizer. I can do everything correct on vcds but the signals never flash and the remote still will not adapt. Any suggestion?

    I have a mk 4 2004 model Passat and both keys fail to remotely open the doors. I have tried inserting one key in the ignition, turning it on and with the other key turn the drivers door lock to open, waited ten seconds, removed the key, pressed the button on the key, waited 2 seconds, pressed it again - still no access?? I do have a vcds system to hand.

    I have to get one of the VCDS cables and software. Lost one of fobs for my 2013 Passat. Taking it in to get the NEW ORDERED key (140.00) and the car re-programmed (think they said 90.00). However, my fob had more buttons (remote start, for example). Costly mistake but hoping my LOST key will show up. Too bad they don't have a "find me" feature built in ;-)

    You do not need vcds to program the keyless entry on a mk5. All you have to do is take the key so that it is out of the range of the vehicle and press the lock and unlock buttons each 10 times and then open the vehicle using the key into the lock on the drivers door, then put the key in the ignition and turn till accessory position and wait for system checks to complete then turn key to start ignition and done, your keyless is now programmed. The mk5 has self program feature.

      I tried the above on a 2006 Jetta TDI Sedan with no luck. Here is what I did:
      1. Lock the door with the key on driver side. (Horn honked and lights blinked with red security light blinking)
      2. Drove about about .25 mile away (To be sure)
      3. Press each button 10x in this order: lock, trunk, unlock, panic
      4. Returned home
      5. Inserted Key into driver side door to unlock car
      6. Turn the Key into ACC mode and waited until system check are clear
      7. Turn on the Car and let run for approx. 10 sec.
      8. Turned of Car and removed Key
      9. Exited the Vehicle and shut the door
      10. Tried the buttons and no go (Wah Wah) :(
      Any fault in my steps? I already changed the battery in the key. Do you think it could be the receiver with the issue?

    • @Githrog
      @Githrog 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Jose Gomez Jr only difference I did was I did not lock my car with the key. I have 2 keyless fobs. One worked one didn't. I went to work with the non working fob on accident, I got out and hit the lock button and nothing happened and I realized I had the wrong one so I hit the door lock button on the inside of the drivers door and closed it and went into work. On my brake I called VW and asked how to schedule a key program service and they said to be out of range of the vehicle and hit the unlock and lock buttons repeatedly then use the key to open the car and turn key to accessory until checks complete then start the car like normal which I did. I drove home and got out and hit the lock button on the key fob and it worked. They said mk5's use the same bottom half of the key and get a different top half with the actual key cut for their specific cars locks. Hitting the unlock and lock buttons while out of range clears the code that the key remembers and inserting it into the ignition re programs the cars code. About a week later I was looking through my manual that came with my car and I found an actual card from VW with these exact programming instructions in it. I can send you a picture of it if you would like.

    You can code the remote as long as the transponder on the key is programed to the module switch the ignition on with the key that works close the door stick the key to be programmed in the driver door barrel push and hold the lock button and turn the key to the locking position 3 times and visa versa with the unlocking button viola no diagnostic tool needed

    The VCDS says that you have to program both remotes at the same time, but you only pressed a key on one remote? I am unclear if you need to press a key on each remote ( the new one and the one in the ignition) in order to reprogram both of them again? (The settings were reset by saving channel 00 to 0). Correct?

    • @adnanbaha8071
      @adnanbaha8071 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ainstain K I'm also curious about this. Do you have to press both, or do you not touch the one that was already programmed?

    does this work on a 2004 Passat? I have 2 remotes and they both went dead. I replaced the battery in both and well they work for a day or 2 then stop but if I like smash them against something they will work again for a few days then stop again.

    If I am changing both of my fobs do I select 4 keys programmed? Then I have 4 fobs programmed, do I have to destroy the old ones to make sure they can't be used for my car? Will resetting to factory defaults turn off all the extra features I turned on with VCDS?

    hey guys I tried all the steps. everything is the same but in the end it wont work.
    my fob was working fine but it slowly stopped working. and then quit working at all.
    can a jump start fry something up? or the fob is bad? it blinks the red led.
    Also could a water leak in the car or broken wires can lead to non working? thanks

    • @tonytrilex2555
      @tonytrilex2555 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes water in the fob or water in the control module which is underneath the brake can cause this you can have a working fob but bad control module do you live in a watery or snowy area are your door locks working fine?

      I have a Golf Mk5 and a VCDS device obtained from Gendan.co.uk some years ago. The booklet belonging to the car indicates a procedure for "synchronising the remote control key" but it didn't work. (The booklet has other errors.) However I succeeded using the VCDS.
      My key had worked satisfactorily for many years, then for no obvious reason it stopped locking & unlocking the doors. After renewing the key fob battery it still didn't work. A local car breaker had a draw full of keys. I chose one that looked the same. It cost £3. I had learnt how to take apart the key fobs and so I checked that the number for the remote control part was correct. My number is HLO 1K0 959 753 G. The first key I checked was the same apart from the G at the end so I rejected that and eventually found an exact copy.
      I then joined the half of the newly acquired key that contained the remote control together with the other half of my failed key. I therefore was retaining the metal key that inserts into the ignition switch and retaining the immobiliser. I then carried out the procedure shown in TH-cam, but found it hard to follow as I use the VCDS gizmo very infrequently. Here is my successful procedure and explanation.
      Enter the car with two keys, one fully working and the other with remote in need of synchronising. The following procedure 'adapts' both keys to the car so it doesn't matter which key is in the ignition switch and which key is nearby. Also it is essential to go through the Channel 00 procedure first which resets the system. And when choosing 'new value' I chose 2 because I had 2 working keys.
      Connect up, plug in and switch on ignition using either key.
      • Choose Select
      • Choose 46-Central Conv.
      • Choose adaptation-10
      • Using the Read and Up Down boxes adjust the Channel indication to Channel 00.
      • Click on Save (bottom middle) A warning will come up saying "Are you sure?"
      • Click on Yes. So that has reset the system
      • Now go back to the Channel selector and change to channel 1 and go down to New value and select 2 (assuming you have 2 keys)
      • Choose Save (bottom middle) A warning will come up saying "Are you sure?"
      • Click on Yes and then quickly (within 15 seconds) click on 1 button (for at least 1 second) of both keys. Each time the button is pressed the car indicators will indicate left and right on the instrument panel. If that indication doesn't occur it hasn't worked.
      • It worked for me!
