My installed RAM was installed on the side (where you installed the chip) but other than that the video was exactly as you said it would be. The chip popped in so easily.

For video editing I would add as much ram as you can afford it will make a huge difference depending on what program you are using a backup hard drive might also be a great idea as well
Your instructions were great! It gave me confidence to finally open the back of my child's laptop to upgrade. I thought we had to match the other memory stick. So, I just purchased 4gigs this time. Anyway, I purchased this laptop in June 2017 for my child's summer school classes, and found out after so many phone calls to Acer and Microsoft that the problem was that the trackpad hardware was not installed. I sent it to them for the trackpad installation. Now, I open the back to install the memory stick, and they have their's in that spot. The memory card I purchased in June will not fit in the open port near the bottom edge of laptop because the notch is not the same as the top port. Do I have a lemon laptop? I can't afford the time for me to send my laptop to Acer again. I hope they just send the right parts and teach me how to fix it, or give me a new laptop before I have to return this one. Any advice for me?

Just an FYI, that screw is a retaining screw for the M.2 drive. There's no "pin" that's needed. Just slide in the M.2, and secure it with the screw and you're ready to razzle dazzle.
awesome i thought so! My issue is I'm a bit of a windows novice with transferring my operating system to the M.2 for boot up and using the included 1tb hhd drive for storage
Zarfilms2007 I've always had issues with cloning to a new drive, so I just do a clean install. I just got my aspire e15 today and want to get an SSD as well. I don't mind a clean install of Windows 👍

This works, the one I have is a E5-575-72N3 but it's the same case design only difference is mine has an Intel Core i7 chip but it doesn't come with the DVD drive "that you have to buy separately which I did"

just unplug the drive it came wirth install your SSd with it only plugged in and windows will be able to be installed to ssd drive then you can make the 1Tb drive for storage only if you like!
Potato Boi I was reading a review of this laptop and the dude said it's more efficient to use two 4gb ram over mismatched ram because if the sizes are mismatched the computer can only use one at a time. It would be switching from the 4 to the 8 and so on. With two 4gb it would be using 8gb all the time. He also talked about putting the operating system on a 250gb ssd hard drive and using the hdd for files, making it much faster. I plan on getting this laptop and doing both of those
dman I actually bought a different ASUS laptop with similar specs, but it was cheaper just because it was a little older. I did use an SDD and two 4gb sticks of RAM and it works great!

The best way to find out is to search the processor. Intel's webpage shows you the max amount of RAM the processor can handle. Make sure you find the exact same model of processor
Hello, I just ordered this computer, and one more 4gb ram stick from the link you gave. It usually takes quit awhile to set up a new computer with so many updates for Window 10. Is it better to install the extra ram first, would that help? Or is it safer just to let the computer update on its own, to make sure everything is ok with the computer, and then add the ram. Thanks

Yes it will work that is exactly what the video shows the crucial works perfectly a 6 months later we replaced the factory with the same 8gb crucial and works amazing it’s all about what you want to do and budget thank you for the comment

I think adding more ram will impact it more but other upgrades make it a tremendously fast machine you can always do ramble and add the SSD later like I did
You are talking about dual channel! The laptop comes with4gb micron ram installed you can add the very same chip and have dual channel efficiency with 8GB , there is a link to buy the same RAM chip that is factory installed in the description. I hope that helps
I'm really nervous to upgrade my pc in case I break something.... but I REALLY want better gaming... I'm a new pc gamer so I got an acer aspire to try pc gaming to see if I'll like it and I love it but I never realised how crap my laptop is.... I actually got so into pc gaming that when I was playing Mario Kart on the Nintendo switch with my dad, I had no clue what buttons were what anymore I also get scared about pressing it in... Yes it is that's why I think it's the best bang for your buck for a 350 budget laptop that even has a back lit keyboard at this price point! You can put more RAM in it than I did but it's plenty fast for my needs so far! Thank you for the comment,

it wont hurt he computer you are referring to dual channel for more efficiency its good to match the pair and use identical Ram sticks but it is not necessary.
In theory, yes. SHOULD you? I strongly advise against it. Laptop parts don't have the same flexibility as desktops. And if something goes wrong, that could fry your whole laptop. Most Mobile CPU (xxxM) are generally soldered to the motherboard. Replacing them, if at all possible, is generally not financially viable. Any upgrade potential would be limited by other factors in a laptop. PSU/Cooling etc. if you need the i7 go with a more expensive laptop. i havenotseen the need for the i7 but imnot a hard core gamer or anything, i hope that helps!

I’m not sure it’s worth trying to repair such an old processor you would be better of getting into a budget model like above and upgrading that. Overheating could be the drive and the fan failing
You can put an 8GB in. It's more efficient to use the Matched RAM Dual channel as you stated however it does work. We ran ours with 12GB for a year. Things ran faster and the computer saw the RAM as soon as it was installed. WE and then replaced the factory 4GB later with a matched 8GB for a total of 16GB.
I have a pc3 12800 stick lying around doing nothing. I think its ddr3, can I use it. Btw what do you think of the latest windows update,1803. It has my laptop moving slow.

windows fcked up honestly. A lot of people are complaining abt the update. Games I could run on high settings lag insanely and there are noticeable pauses in general performance
I added in the extra ram stick and the screen is not showing anything when it turns on. But when I take out the new stick of ram the screen works again fine. Thoughts?
What are the specs of the ram chip u installed? It's possible that chip is defective and you are sure you installed it correctly no forcing it on or anything?

I just bought an Acer Aspire E15 E5-575G-7281J I want to upgrade to 32GB Ram and a SSD EVO 850 M.2 500GB. The RAM it has now is an ADADA AO1P21FC4R1-B2MS 4GB 1Rx8 PC4-2133P-SA0-10 (I can not find a 16GB 1Rx8, only 16GB 2Rx8) 10410224 1.2V Is the 2Rx8 compatible? I assume they are both 260 pin. Yes it will the graphics card is the only thing limiting as it cannot be upgraded but an SSD and as much RAM as you can afford will go along way to improving gaming as this is a budget laptop it can take a max of 32GB (2x16GB) in each slot. if you use 2 of the the exact same ram sticks you will get better performance it is called dual channel ram. Buy a "kit" of two modules that are the same where possible.

Nothing else needs to be done when you turn it all on the computer sees the ram all set!

That's quite a bit of upgradeability for a $350 notebook, and easy too. I've seen notebooks 2x the price that are a lot harder to open up.

it will recognize it you wont have to do anything you can check it the system settings after install and you will see it!

manrique ramirez this specific model E 15-575-33BM takes DDR4 if u have different model I would check the specs or open the bottom and look at the Ram to see what it is

In theory, yes. SHOULD you? I strongly advise against it. Laptop parts don't have the same flexibility as desktops. And if something goes wrong, that could fry your whole laptop. Most Mobile CPU (xxxM) are generally soldered to the motherboard. Replacing them, if at all possible, is generally not financially viable. Any upgrade potential would be limited by other factors in a laptop. PSU/Cooling etc. if you need the i7 go with a more expensive laptop. i havenotseen the need for the i7 but imnot a hard core gamer or anything, i hope that helps!
Zarfilms2007 It does thank you for the information :) ,and I asked because I got the gaming version of this laptop which has a nividia 940mx and I just wanted to make this laptop a bit better but after seeing your recommendation I will probably stick with this laptop for 3 more years and not change anything except the ram if I have to.

I’m not sure it’s worth trying to repair such an old processor you would be better of getting into a budget model like above and upgrading that. Overheating could be the drive and the fan failing

You can put an 8GB in. It's more efficient to use the Matched RAM Dual channel as you stated however it does work. We ran ours with 12GB for a year. Things ran faster and the computer saw the RAM as soon as it was installed. WE and then replaced the factory 4GB later with a matched 8GB for a total of 16GB.
I have a pc3 12800 stick lying around doing nothing. I think its ddr3, can I use it. Btw what do you think of the latest windows update,1803. It has my laptop moving slow.
No I would NOT install it. you could sell it on ebay and buy the correct RAM for this laptop! just an idea! :) i'm not a fan of the update i'm not a fan of Windows but what can you do!

windows fcked up honestly. A lot of people are complaining abt the update. Games I could run on high settings lag insanely and there are noticeable pauses in general performance

What are the specs of the ram chip u installed? It's possible that chip is defective and you are sure you installed it correctly no forcing it on or anything?

Yes it will the graphics card is the only thing limiting as it cannot be upgraded but an SSD and as much RAM as you can afford will go along way to improving gaming as this is a budget laptop it can take a max of 32GB (2x16GB) in each slot. if you use 2 of the the exact same ram sticks you will get better performance it is called dual channel ram.
