I love that your house is REAL- it's a home. We are all not in a point in our lives where we can purchase a 2.5mm mansion and have a designer do their thing. I'm always looking for practical ideas I can implement in my *home* that I share with a husband and 3 kids who, you know, LIVE in our home. Like right now our family room's coffee table is displaced off center to make room for VR games on the PS4. I adore the mirror in the entry. I would love to replicate on the wall you walk directly INTO when you walk into our home. And your staircase makes me swoon. Love love love. Clever ideas!

I can't believe this!!!. I'm in the process of buying a house and I don't know anything about decorating. So the first thing that I decided to look for was for a video that would help me decide which color to paint the interior. And I found a really helpful channel and I started to binge watch some of her videos. Well today you came up on my recommendations. And I really like your creativity and the way you interact with the viewers. So I decided to go into your videos... And realized that I've been watching your daughter's channel all this time 😂😂😂

Rebecca, you are one of my very favorite designers! Your work is very dramatic and classy. Most people would not have seen the potential in that home. But you had a vision and brought it to life. Well done and so unique. My favorite is very hard to choose. I'd have to say it was the mirrored wall and staircase combined because it makes such an impact. However, everything you put your hand on turns to magic. I've really never seen anything you've designed that I didn't like. God bless you in all you do!

Love your ideas ❤️ I just found your You Tube channel a couple days ago. I am getting caught up on some of your videos. I do some similar things in my home too. I use lots of mirrors to open up the space to give the illusion of a bigger brighter room, tall ceilings and bounce light off of. Except I have a much smaller budget. (I could have so much fun if I won the lottery! 💰😁) I purchased an antique credenza had a custom counter top made for it (and I put on myself underneath it hidden, 4 large industrial wheels so I can move it around). I use it for my kitchen island for additional storage and had the custom counter top made with it extending out further on one side where I have 3 matching barstools, to use for additional seating. I have a large flower arrangement, 2 tier fruit rack and candle on it. Works perfect in my open concept apartment for extra storage and seating. The space really needed something there just looked ackward without anything there. Wish I could change and add ceiling lights, but can't so I use wall sconces and added a light to my huge painting. Love the bedroom closet of mirrors and your large wall mirror in the living room.

Аccording to Feng Shua theory, to have a mirror opposite the front door is a failure, or to be more precise, all the positive energy that enters the house is reflected in the mirror and returns back. Looks like Rebecca broke this theory.

You have the greatest imagination. That staircase is a work of Art. The idea for the entry way I'm sure gave many ideas of their own. The buffets in the dining room, pure genius. The only thing I'd want to change would be the tile underneath the buffet. I'm not sure what I'd do with them, but it looks too dated for your home.
The shutter in the kitchen, haha, I didn't even think about how different that looked till you took the shutter away. Your children are fortunate to have you.

We are kind people so we won't be nearly as harsh on you as you were on this woman. Will that be a problem for your mom you think? Will she only let you film the basement where you troll the internet with your bitterness all day? If so we will still give it a fair assessment. Okay tag us all when you're done, see you soon, parting is such sweet sorrow...

sheila my best friend Damaris has had several cooking shows on Food Network and The Food Channel, and because of the way the kitchen needs to be set up for filming she couldn't do the shows in her own home. The networks had to place an ad for kitchens in our area (we live in Louisville Ky) that met the criteria the show needed. Turns out the kitchen they chose was really nice but wasn't like MTV cribs crazy or anything. The couple said they just finished remodeling last month so the timing was perfect. I didn't ask but they just told me that they spent about 125 thousand dollars on that remodel!!!! I seriously almost fell out of my chair. The kicker is she couldn't believe the deal they got 😂 she thought for sure it would be around 200 G's! I knew we were in a nice neighborhood, but I left there wondering how much are these frickin houses if they'd put 200 grand in just their kitchen alone...That's about what my whole house cost haha! Sorry for the long story but I thought that crap was crazy!

My husband grew up in S. CA. and his folks had that same red tile around their fireplace. Cutting the legs off of those chests in your dining room was so smart. The builder who put that tile all way across the room had no design sense, but you fixed it for sure.

Everything that you changed in your home turned out beautiful & was very clever and very attainable for us working on a teeny weeny budget 😂😂😂 But the best part of your video, believe it or not, was hearing you say how long you’ve been in your home and your still working on it. It made me feel good to know that it does take time to pull it all together. When you said that, I was like “Ok Key, it’s fine to take your time (YEARS) to make sure that you have everything just the way you want it.” We’ve been in our home for about 15 years now and I did paint and ripped up carpets and brought furniture when we first moved in, but I wasn’t completely happy with the look, just wanted to put my stamp on it. We are now in the process of doing THE WHOLE HOUSE OVER and THIS TIME around I will definitely take my time and make smarter decisions so that I will LOVE IT 😍 Also I plan to work on one room at a time, instead of a little here a little there, this way I don’t get distracted and I can have a completed space, move to the next room and can really focus...... Living room almost complete, next will be the main bathroom, because it’s small and will be easy to complete, then the kitchen last. I will be watching to grab ALL THE TIPS I CAN GET FROM YOU 🥰 Thanks for sharing with us

And the fact that you took your home remodeled it to a point you don't have high-end pieces (that are to come) your home still looks like a million dollars. I see so many mobs and TH-camrs who fake the funk instead of working with what you have and making it your own in due time.

I've watched this video several times, yet, each time I watch it again, I still think that mirror is actually the entrance into another room. I have to purposely detach my attention from what I think in my head that it is and convince myself it's a mirror.
Also, adding that molding under the ceiling in the the entrance --- brilliant idea. It really makes you see it as higher than it really is.
LOVE the way the iron staircase widens at the bottom. What a difference it makes. Yep. Chopping the legs off those chests of drawers, ... again, brilliant. The fact that you can re attach them, makes it even better. The mirror covered closet doors ---- ahhhhh, gorgeous. Makes that room look twice as big.

Thank you for showing us your home. It just saved me 10,000 bucks! I also thought I would see this humungo elaborate home, but saw a beautiful warm homey home that you have done the best for the time frame and income you had to work with at the time, but is still beautiful and unique. We sold our dream home, that I designed and subcontracted ourselves, a couple of years ago and have downsized to a smaller rambler now that we are retired and I have felt very pressured to replace and fix up my nice but outdated home. I left a slab yard today feeling overwhelmed by the $10,000 price tag of the perfect stone I have been looking for (I have a knack for picking out the most expensive product on the shelf) since we moved in a couple of months ago. As much as I would love to, and could if I really felt like I wanted to, spend that kind of money on a counter, the practical side of me just can't allow me to do it. We have very dated 4" white tiles with 1/2 inch grouting between them, yuck,on our counters and I have just decided to seal the grouting with the white paint/sealer and call it good for a while. I told my husband we could tile the counter ourselves with square cararra marble tiles with 1/8" grout for a fraction of the price! We are do-it-yourself-ers. You are so welcome. This video continues to amaze me. It’s probably my most watched home decor video on TH-cam. Over 7 million people have watched it and all I want to do is say...
NNNOOO ... watch my luxury home reveals... not this one!
I have home tours of multimillion dollar homes you should watch... why are you drawn to this video? It’s probably my least “produced” least impressive video on TH-cam... yet the most watched 🤷🏻‍♀️
I think it’s this... my California tract home is relatable. Not so fancy and definitely not very impressive... more people relate to my home than my client projects where millionaires can afford anything... anytime.
So for that, I’m glad I had my cameraman pick up his camera that day and follow me around my house the day we filmed this video. No script, no motive.... just organic sharing of the few things I did when we bought our home way back when.
You’all expect my home to look like my clients homes... truth is, my home looks more like yours than you might have though before watching this video.
Bottom line... I BELIEVE... A beautiful home has the power to change your life... I know this at my core and I’ve observed it for over 30 years now... 😘 IT’S TRUE

Really? When did San Diego become affordable? I'd LOVE to be able to own such a huge house in San Diego! Love that city. As for her interior design in THIS video--IMHO, very perplexing. Alternating from the sublime to the repulsive. I don't think I've seen such extremes in a single designer. The sublime stuff's enough to keep me hooked, of course. (But just leaning that shutter against your kitchen backsplash? Can't you at least mount it? And it really isn't so expensive to remove the extra hearth. I mean, if you're in a position to buy real estate in San Diego, you should be able to afford a minor reno like that. Not in love with the lower-key closet door, either. So, the kitchen, and I didn't care for the dining room fixes--those two rooms looked collegiate, somehow, compared to the rest of what you did. Everything else was awesome, though! Inspiring, which is what you intended. Thank you. Always enjoy your videos.

I keep coming back to this video, from time to time, because it truly is sensational what you did to this house. It is a testimony to your designing genius. When you see the before and after pictures, it is almost impossible to fathom that this is the same house. It also underscores that a house does not have to be a mansion to be greatly improved by understanding the elements of good design. For my own life, I have had to scale back some of the ideas for a much smaller home, but the whole idea of how "the wow factor" can make a difference is what this video has brought to life for me. Rebecca, you are truly one of a kind. Keep the great videos coming!

Heck yeah: "Whack off the [old chest of drawers] legs" is brilliant! Now I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to make the 2 highboys on either side of the bed look like built-in. This is REALLY helpful. You're a high-end designer who's "real enough" to make a mansion out of a tract house. "Neiman Marcus on a Walmart budget" - my kinda girl. ;)

Wow! This is definitely the kind of work that can only be done on a forever house (a house one plans to live in for the rest of their lives) because after awhile, one would never be able to get the amount spent on improvements back on resale. So you've got to be SUPER sure about a home enough to stay in it (and have enough insurance to include the value of these improvements just in case ) before ever being committing to a project like this! I definitely salute you Rebecca (sp??)!!!!

Wow! So creative and talented! Definitely have ideas now for the “visually challenging” areas of our small home. Thank you so much!

My favorite by far was that staircase. I know it was pricey, but it's so beautiful. Job well done.

You have won me over with your ability to make good design accessible to a lot more people. The biggest expense had to be the staircase and some of the construction but someone could ideally make changes room by room over the space of a year. Bravo!
