My husband put in a laundry chute 20+ years ago. It’s a wonderful, dreamy feature!! No laundry hamper getting in the way and no toting dirty clothes down the stairs. Yea!!
Just coming here to say.... in a world of Boho Chic and Farmhouse tutorials... we need people like Rebecca Robeson! I really thought her tips were going to be to spensive for our family budget. I haven't seen the design sessions yet, but everything here on TH-cam I HAVE been able to think about how we could use here in our home. The molding into the mirror tip... I think it's about not framing off the space in your mind. In your mind, it just continues on and feels unconfined. I love the idea about maybe how you could apply that to other elements in a room.

I love that she does her own thing and does not run after every trend. Very refreshing!
I love what you did to upgrade the front door, I love the mirror cut like the crown molding, it does look like the crown molding is going on for days, the mirror looks great in the bathroom. I think it would have looked weird to have the mirror stop right before you get to the toilet. Sort of unfinished . You know what you're doing, I've been watching you for many years. Whomever purchases your house will get a well cared for home filled with a lot of memories and creativity . I've always thought it would be cool to have a laundry chute. It eliminates collecting dirty clothes from all the bedrooms and laundry baskets everywhere. Plus I bet kids love just throwing the clothes down. When you join your daughter it's going to be a start of a new chapter with new baby and all. I'm here for it ! When my life gets better I hope to use some of your great design ideas. Life has been a roller coaster for me for a very long time, but you have kept me inspired.

The first home my husband and I bought together had a wonderful laundry shoot!
My house needs torn down and a new one built. I'm stuck with it. Since I am 67, hopefully it will last till I die . For everyone that can afford to make changes where it's needed, consider yourself extremely blessed. You have just watched a master at work!

Hi Nathan. You are so sweet to say that but I do have good news for you. There will be at least one more video of this house coming :-) I am going to film a final Home Tour REVEAL video. In that video, I will take you through every room in my house, lay out the floor plan for you to get an overall perspective and most exciting... REVEAL my new Kitchen!!! Trust me, I'm sitting in my Dining Room right now and looking at my new Kitchen and I absolutely LOVE IT! I think you will too :-) So, stay tuned my friend... This was the inspiration I've been needing!! Rebecca, you have no idea how much I needed this video. Here in Florida I have a one story house with vaulted ceilings and I've always struggled with how I should improve my house with vaulted ceilings. The door hack and the built ins are perfect! My house has many similar things and I now feel like I have the confidence to make it beautiful! I can't wait for the Christmas videos and your whole house tour! I'm so excited!! Having a LAUNDRY SHOOT is the best ever! I'm 47 yrs old and grew up with a laundry shoot on the wall behind the bathroom door. We built our current house in 1996 and made sure to add laundry shoot doors from both bathrooms - on same wall, across from each other, which is the same shoot that drops into the laundry room onto the counter. Love it! I love how you have yours under the sink cabinet area. Clever.
Hands down, my favorite designer on the internet! I love how you get right to the point with just enough of a prelude to introduce the actual project. My next projects the mirrored closets in my bedroom to make my bedroom seem more spacious. Next, I plan on "customizing" my rooms with builtins as you did. I have unlimited admiration for your talents. Thank you!

I have a laundry chute and it is the best thing ever. Pro tip: get a laundry bag to carry your laundry up from the laundry room. That way you can send the bag back down when everything is put away.
Your home is beautiful and I have loved watching you decorate it over the years for Christmas. I’m sure you’ll be a little sad to leave your home but let’s face it, you can take the beautiful memories with you and leave any bad ones behind. We had a laundry shoot, but had to make it safe since we had 5 young children. So we put the shoot in high enough that no one could climb in or fall in and then it went down into a cabinet right aside of the washer. I just had to open the cabinet door and pull out enough clothes for one load at a time. It was great!
Since then I have lived in a ranch style on one floor and really miss the laundry shoot.
Love everything except the books placed backwards in the office. 🤔I know that’s popular but I don’t get it. 😆 Everything else is beautiful! 😍

It's so fun to look for when the changes happened by watching your old videos. It looks like you did your front door in 2012 because it is in that year's Christmas video but not in 2011. Your 10-foot mirror used to be draped in heavy curtains. I can't wait to see what you do in Tulsa. I can't wait for the Design Session where you give the specific details about this house renovation.
Wow, good detective work. I don’t even remember those details 😂. As for The Design Sessions, so happy you are taking your design interests and skills to the next level. I’ve decided that after all the cliff house episodes, I’m going to do one on my own kitchen remodel. I think because it’s on a practical budget and I did everything myself, it will be very relatable. My last house had a laundry shute and I had to install one in our new place. I don't ever want to live without it. Such a small, unimportant thing makes life easier.

Love it it was in Eagle Rock ,CA my Grandpa built it my Mom said we we not allowed to slide down yet she did when she was younger. Lol. I miss that house I loved it.
I loved the first one, I've watched it half a dozen times. Even showed my husband. Loved seeing the rest of the house. I've said love enough but my house at Christmas has you written all over it. Spinners, clickers, Wolfard lamps......I could go on and on. But my biggest TH-cam joy is seeing a strong lady with joy and excitement all around her. Couldn't have been easy but the best is yet to come 😍😍😍

Love your vids! I'm an alpha male type guy who stumbled upon your vids while still living in my apartment and I realized that I already had an innate knowledge of spacing and odd numbers (I was actually really excited to learn that) and a decent sense of style (although very masculine). I just bought a home a few months ago and signed up to your design studio and got some really awesome tips that I used (like the window treatments to the ceiling and using a mirror for symmetry and wall panels) and my home looks great! Now if I can only be more organized! lol....

On the mirror hack. Master bath double vanity wall and adjacent wall mirrored floor to ceiling. Gorgeous travertine floor, amazing wall finish...it’s an absolute show stopper!!! Big bathroom now looks HUGE...love mirrors.

Yes! Laundry chute. We used to get the bed sheets stuck in there and would have to get the yardstick to push them through. What memories...
Where I live we get tornados and apparently that's the reason my French doors shouldn't swing out. But..... I think I would love my French doors more if I could swing them out.

She had basically a water explosion in her kitchen that ruined it and the floor, thus the renovation so she can put her house on the market to move to Tulsa. She mentions the move at the end of the video. Her ig stories go more in depth and are a lot of fun. The husband comment was part of a clip from the previous video (3 years ago when they were married).

@@msgerberra not a problem. There were quite a few clips from other videos (including the design sessions) that made the editing of this video is a bit weird. Probably because of the whole moving and renovation situation.
Yea I was confused about that when she mentioned husband...I truly wish things will work out for them and no matter which way she chooses I am sure she will be blessed and live a life of fulfilment!!!

The books in the study are the other way around. Is there any reason for doing it? It looks much better 😊. But is it practical?

Love what you do, but for one thing. I love my books, I re-read my books. The way you shelve your books make me crazy.
Here’s a better laundry home hack: have a full-sized stacking washer/ dryer UPSTAIRS!!!! Think about it: do you really want to haul heavy bedding, blankets, towels , etc upstairs? No.
The reason traditionally the laundry is off the kitchen is because the maid works around the kitchen so the laundry would be in the same area. Way back the kitchen was a separate shack from the house due to fire hazard and the laundry was done in the yard in a washpot over a fire. Cooking and laundry just went together. But now we've realized all laundry is generated in the bedrooms/bathroom/closet so put the laundry next to where it comes from and goes back to........few of us have 'staff'.
