I really like this series because it shows just an average dude going to eat in his own city/town. No gimmicks or anything, no big history lesson, it's just fun to watch. You make watching a video of a dude eating Japanese food unique and interesting.

I originally watched, because I had interest to live in Japan and thought seeing someone in their day to day there would help prepare me. Now I watch because it is like seeing an old friend and catching up. Seeing your kids grow up, and your pride in them becoming great people warms my heart. I also take away from your videos the great advice you have given over the years in healthy eating/exercise and philosophies. I know not what is in store for the future of EricSurf6, only that I will look forward to seeing your videos with a continued smile and exuberance at there arrival to my screen.

Ericsurf6 That's great! Your channel is "new" to me, so I'm not in-the-know. What's really cool is that your have all these videos that show them growing up. That will be fun to look back on, and to show their own children (in the future). I enjoy your show. Sometimes you attack your food, nothing dainty there! That's why men can be more fun to watch eating than women, most of the time. I really like the educational aspects as well. I had to shield my eyes when you ate that..that..thing in a shell. You said you might throw up, and that it tasted awful. I kept wondering, "Then why are you insisting on eating it?" Man, that's the stuff nightmares are made of! (Add to the list, raw eggs, eating live seafood, and baby chickens or ducks still in the shell.) Nope, nope, nope, and nope. LOL

I like the relationship you have with your sons, they seem to respect you and you respect them as well and treat them as equals or friends, I like that. You don't talk down to them or disrespect them. I wish I was lucky enough to have had this kind of fun with my dad. They are very lucky.

Why I watch the EMT videos. 1. You're in Japan so to Americans everything looks so cool and different, Japan seems like another planet. Our vending machines have Mountain Dew in them. 2. I could watch you destroy food all day. Man can you eat. 3.You have a great way of describing things 4.I like the way you include your sons in the videos. Listen your yutube channel is better than television. and i'm not just saying that to get something. All your content is worth watching.

Yum! The torimeshi bento's rice looks so shiny and tasty!! The box is really a beautiful item, and doing the giveaway on the spot was so cool and spontaneous :3 Wish it had more chicken tho and man Eric, your bento looks really fancy. Esp with the way the beef was arranged and the sauce+tamagoyaki on the side. Oh and it's interesting you guys mentioned the green leaf..ahaha for a while I believed it was a real leaf this time when you started chewing it! XD
About that leaf, I got to know about it by chance while watching Begin Japanology one day. The green plastic leaf thing, well it's a remnant from an old practice. Bentos are meant to last many hours and typically they'd use fresh bamboo leaves for both separating the different items (so the flavours wouldn't mingle) and also for it's antibacterial properties. It also added colour and looked nice. So while many fancy traditional bento boxes still have them, cheaper bentos just have the plastic leaf. Oh and it had the tsukemono on it, so it did serve one purpose atleast :D
Why do I watch your videos? This is going to be a long answer and I'm not making it long to try to win the giveaway or anythin lol. BUT the main reason is, it's just very enjoyable to watch your videos. They are fun, adventurous, delicious, full of great stories & advice and ofcourse your affable personality just adds to that. The way you eat, without a care, just enjoying the food..it's awesome XD But you being an older youtuber, also gives your videos some depth, since you share your wisdom and your experience with us, which isn't very common around here. And also, your videos (to me) have one thing I can't seem to find in other videos, just the way you view things..it's fun yet relaxed. Sometimes spontaneous and random (like the mountain biker in a suit or the fried chicken sandwich by the sea video ) It doesn't feel too dramatic and I also like your camerawork in your videos. Also you're like the coolest dad ever! Man it's always awesome having your sons over in your vids and the banter between the three of you are really fun. The convenience store raids are some of my favs! Sometimes there are glimpses of simple life in Japan, such as a bit of sunset from the open door of the train in which you were eating in an EMT video or the orange tree in the mountain biker video. I don't see these things in any other videos. It's a glimpse into what it's like to be actually there and it really feels lovely to watch. Something about the mundane quality of those tidbits, it's nothing particularly fancy or touristy or anything, it's just Japan being Japan, as it is. But it feels special to me. As an artist, it also inspires me visually. Oh and love your trick videos too! They're really great to watch, esp with my siblings.
TLDR: Eric your videos are awesome and keep bein you and enjoy making whatever it is you really enjoy : )

I watch the Eric Meal Time series because you cover a wide variety of places, not just the big places like well know Japanese restaurants or US brands in Japan. It's nice to see things like train station and hideway food spots. Gives a full view of Japan.

I watch EMT just to see the different types of foods served in Japan. I love how Japan is all about presentation in their food. Even if I have just eaten and am not hungry, I can watch your EMT videos and become hungry. I have never had cow tongue but with the presentation that was in that bento box, I would try it. I did some research and the green leaf thing (or baran) in the bento box is now used as presentation. The leafs were real before the 60's and they did more than just look pretty. Many plants contain chemicals called phytoncides, which act as natural antibiotics. Serving sushi with greenery helped preserve the fish and keep it fresh longer. Those zigzag patterns allowed the leaves to release more of the chemical. Thank you again for another great EMT video.

I watch the ericmealtime series because it allows me to see the many different types of delicious food that Japan has to offer. It's very cool to watch because many of the things seen in the video are completely foreign to the food that I'm used to in the states. It's wonderful to see the creative ways that people have come up with to make food all over the world!

Eric Meal Time! My favorite part in watching your videos is when you go to convenient stores and rate their foods. But the cool part is WHAT kind of foods they have. It's so exciting!

You are filming your family and you eating while you chat like that camera isn´t there. It´s really cool and relaxed. Keep it up, I really enjoy them specially Eric meal time :)
