this event basically killed the iPad. you now need a chart to decide which keyboard and pencil you need to get for your iPad… it’s so dumb. i miss the days of like 3 iPads and one apple pencil
I'm only concerned about the Apple Pencil change, even that isn't a huge deal to me. It is annoying for folks upgrading that need to buy a new Pencil too - if they use it. Keyboards are basically model specific anyway - even third party. Sucks you can reuse those either since those are more expensive than a Pencil.
There are millions of people like me who just need a fking iPad mini with OLED display to watch media on the go. A device that is portable enough to carry around, light enough to hold for long hours and an amazing display to watch Netflix. Phones are too small for watching videos, the mini is just perfect. Why is Apple not catering to this category?
@@RabianskiT The 11 inch iPad is quite heavy to hold, especially when you lie on your bed and watch videos holding the tablet in your hands. I have both the tabs mini and regular iPad and this is my experience.
@@ytuser1985 I get it though, you really like iPad Mini. However, Apple looks at the sales and sees it as a NICHE product. Do you remember what happened with iPhone Mini? 😅
@@RabianskiT I have an iPad mini which fits easily in the pocket in my cargo shorts. Buying a 13" Pro as I want to use it on long flights instead of my MBP's.
For my daughter's iPad I bought her some aftermarket "Apple Pen" for $20, and it works perfectly fine. (and the fun part was when I wrapped it for Christmas. Along with the Apple Pen, I included a ballpoint pen and a pineapple-shaped luggage tag in the same package. Figure out the reference...)
It's crazy how Apple's extremely clean product family became so bloated. Multiple generations of iPads in multiple overlapping product lines with a random set of processors mixed and matched between generations, 4 Apple Pencils and even the MacBook has a bunch of hidden spec variation depending on what version you get. Having to spend time double checking whether different CURRENTLY SOLD products are compatible with each other goes wildly against Apple's "it just works" philosophy. The iPad is a wasted product line that's held back by its OS, the A12z from 2018's is _still_ overpowered for everything the device can do. I hope someone makes a competent tablet soon because Apple has gotten incredibly lazy with theirs.
Most confusing is that Ipad mini costs more than Ipad. It looks like Apple is trying to eliminate base Ipad alltogether leaving only Mini with mobile processor, then Air and Pro just like Macbook
I use the 2018 iPad pro while travelling for work. i have never had any complaints and no reason to upgrade because nothing after it released felt better. i just use a third party keyboard with it and while typing can be a bit of a hassle, its taken over my current laptop as an alternative device to work on. They really need to overhaul the os which I’m guessing they will never do because the sales of the MacBook will take a serious hit. Otherwise, like you said, whats the point of having an M1 or higher if you cant use the full potential of it.
Why do you say the OS is holding it back? Apps make people productive, not the OS. The OS is merely there to host apps, which it does quite well. Nobody is made productive dragging files around.
@@techinrl9869I completely disagree with your statement. ipadOS is very restrictive compared to macOS despite the ipad having the same internals as a macbook air. I would want to dock the ipad and add a keyboard so i can program, use the terminal, download what i want..etc and not be restricted to apps i get on iphone save for a few exceptions
For reference, on the European market the bigger iPad Pro full spec with pencil and keyboard costs 3600€ . With that price, I can literally buy a used car.
And starting at €1220 for just the 11inch without any accessories. The prices are just insane and little to no one will want to spend this kind of money on a tablet.

Personally, I was offended how the iPad mini was treated like a stepchild. It always has been treated as such, but today it was evident they don’t care about that mighty little device. It’s evident they are killing iPad mini by making the iPad 10th gen $200 cheaper than the mini. It’s so unfortunate. The iPad mini is the truest definition of what a tablet should be.
Some people have a misunderstanding that smaller device should be cheaper. Last Mini was not because they didn't skimp on the hardware. In computers, many times the "small" version goes for a premium.
@@JasonTaylor-po5xc I get what you’re saying, but well, I’m not saying the mini should be cheaper…however the general public will see bigger iPad 10th gen cheaper price ohhhh that one. Hmmm. WWDC really needs to bring a big update to iPadOS to take advantage of this hardware. All these improvements over the M1 seem weak to me where it’s hard to unlock the power.
And the thing is, those who are professional will mostly be looking at the MacBook Pro’s for their power and full array of desktop apps. It’s all good having an iPad with the M4. Memo to Apple marketing. Sometimes it's a fine line between opportunistic and evil. You have crossed into evil territory with the now current Apple pencil lineup. Also, When a product line starts to look this cluttered and confused, you are doing it wrong.
@@tiadaid They tend to teeter back and forth across that line. This is by no means the first time and likely won't be the last. Their marketing has always been a bit hit and miss in other ways. The differentiation between the various versions of the M1 processor for example was poor. Which wasn't fixed until the M3 variants.
5:49 Apple Pencil Pro is compatible to the new iPads only because the cameras are now on the long edge of the display so they had to redesign the magnets inside since it magnetically charges. Same goes why the old Apple Pencil Gen 2 is not compatible with the new iPads
I use my iPad pro 2018 every single day but have no interest in upgrading until Apple "unchains" iPadOS. As powerful as these new machines are, they don't do anything more for me than my 2018 model.
iPad Air is pretty compelling - basically just a cheaper version of last gen Pro with a few tweaks. Not sure about the OLED on the iPad Pro, need to see it in person before making a call on that, but it needs to be darn impressive to justify the price hike. Using the M4 probably means they won't be refreshing it anytime soon - my guess is at least 2 years. Certainly overpowered for anything today, might be more useful after a few OS and app updates.
iPad Air got the best upgrades. The base is now 128GB, which is actually usable. Before it was a crippling 64GB, which meant almost everyone needed to pay for the upgrade. So it's probably cheaper for most people. You get the M2 chip, which is more power than 99.5% of us can actually make use of on a tablet OS. And now there is the 13" model so artists, students and musicians can have some screen area at a reasonable price.
Tbh as an ipad air user the only thing I really want is pro motion my a14 ipad air never has problems with speed or storage but damn do i wish i had that 120hz
Oh good I thought I was the only one that was underwhelmed. All the other tech TH-camrs are just drooling for some reason. It’s nice that we got OLED, but what do we need a M4 for? It’s the same chassis except extra thins. That way there’s more chance to bend it, the bezels didn’t get any smaller and the price got larger so why is everybody so hyped?
Really what did people expect it to have to 'get excited' its just the best tablet you can get if you are willing to pay for it... They also have now what? 15 different models ? in all price ranged nobody is forcing you to get it.
The dumbest thing about the iPad Air? It is now heavier than the iPad Pro. The entire point of the Air was that it was lighter and slimmer than the regular iPad. Now it is heavier and thicker. Oh, and it also has a two year old CPU.
The magnets and charge points in the new pencil are in a different place than the apple pencil 2. Moving the camera to the side is the reason you can't use the apple pencil 2.
Of all the changes apple makes that's actually a very respectable reason to stop support of the 2. And they didn't raise the price. What we can then question is that the pencil 2 didn't get an official price decrease. But at least it has been discounted for a long time on 3rd party stores.
yup i had this exact thought while watching the video. Bit concerning Luke didn’t manage to put the two together and just instead pointed it to Apple being Greedy 😔
@@SoulK37 Yes it does. The charge point is in a different place on the new pencil, so it will only work with the new iPads, which have the pencil magnets and charging in the new location. The old iPad Pros have the charge point in the wrong place for the new pencil.
8GB of Ram for a $1300 13inch iPad with a binned M4, and $1900 just to be able to get 16GB and 1TB of storage that no iPad users need, all without including the price of the pencil and the keyboard; brilliant Apple, absolutely amazing.
My current iPad is 512GB and it is always full so I have to move things out… and with a more powerful iPad I would create more files with more resolution and heavier files.
As for somebody who only uses it for Procreate I was SERIOUSLY underwhelmed. Hell, even the new pencil isn't backwards compatible with my "ancient" M1 iPad Pro. I watched the whole presentation, and what a SERIOUS yawn fest!!
Luke i think the reason why the new apple pencil pro is only compatible with the new ipads is because the the magnetic docking and charging strip on the old appple pencil is perfectly aligned to the centre of the ipads side. Where the new cameras are placed for the ipad pro/air. This is probably the reason they said that only the Apple pencil pro and the usb-c apple pencil are compatible with the new ipads. And the same reason why the 10th gen ipad was incompatible with the second gen apple pencil even though it got the redesign. The magstrip interferes when placing thr cameras in a horizontal orientation
Yeah they actually briefly mentioned in the event that they had to redesign the Apple Pencil charger. So that makes a lot of sense, I think since they also didn’t even raise the price on the new Apple Pencil, it was pretty fair all things considered
People wanted the FaceID in the landscape orientation, this meant that the charging coil design for the apple pencil had to change, hence why the old pencil doesn't work with the new iPads and the new pencil doesn't work with the old iPads. I would say they technically could work with the screen but since there's no way to charge and therefore pair the pencil on the iPad, they just decided it was easier to say it doesn't work.
Right? Honestly, who cares if it is thinner, it is just more likely to bend. And they just forgot to mention, that they removed one camera for no reason although they are marketing spacial video for the Apple Vision Pro (and are rearranging the cameras on their phones for that reason (rumors)?), but that thing isn't going to sell well soon as long as there is no real use for that. This is the new "Think different."
The question is... why would you buy a new iPad Air over the 5th gen? It's $100 cheaper right now on Amazon, and you're only missing WiFi 6E, "new" colors, a *slightly* faster M2 chip, 128GB, and the landscape camera. I feel like those are all very small updates that aren't worth the money.
Those "small updates" are usually ridiculously expensive at Apple, so the new iPad Air could indeed be very much worth buying. The large model is also a bargain when compared to the iPad Pro.
Making the Apple pencil 3 not compatible with the older iPad Pro was a stupid decision. The older iPad Pro is fast enough. I put it in a case to use it that has a stand built in, so that makes it thicker, would be the same with the newer one. The smart decision is to get the two year old iPad, cheaper, fast enough. There is a point where faster does not buy you anything better perceptually. I was looking forward to getting the new pencil as a digital artist. But I am not buying a new expensive iPad to get it.
I think the Apple Pencil issue is that they and to change the magnets because of the landscape camera. I agree its unfortunate though - I’ll stick with my iPad mini 6

I'm Really glad Luke mentioned the artists and creators in this video since a lot of other tech youtubers shrug the updates off as "Lame/pointless" But for those of us who use Procreate/dreams + So many other creative apps the M4 and new pencil features are enough for someone like myself to upgrade from another Pro as soon as the reviews come out regardless of the software. Working on huge art projects at a high res really makes even the current pro chug and third party Desktop drawing displays just don't feel great to use. Super happy about these!

Can a Writer complain that the iPad Pro is too much for him because all he does is write plain text? All the most of us do is surf the web, you’re upset because you don’t need this beautiful and magnificent new tool. But I understand you. In my view Apple should release 3 iPad Pros so you get the new features and fell less excluded. It should exists a middle version with 12”, OLED, 120Hz and maybe M3 for 799. How cool this would be? Would be awesome! Why apple doesn’t do it? Because they can simply not do it and force you to spend 300 dollars more to get a pricier version if you really want a nicer screen and a slightly faster version .
Apple did actually say the M3's CPU is 20% faster than the M2's CPU during the October 30 keynote If M4 achieved 1.5x the M2's performance, and M3 achieved 1.2x the M2's performance, than if both statements by Apple are correct, and line up perfectly, we get a 25% performance jump going from the M3 to M4
I thought the M3 was a bit underwhelming - felt very skippable, so I'm glad the M4 is out, which means the Mac will be updated with the new chip soon enough.
M4 iPad Pro with MacOS would be the dream with it’s power AND OLED touch screen! Literally the best of both worlds in one purchase!… too bad Apple doesn’t want to make the perfect device, but would rather keep a very unnecessary “eco-system” in place. 😭 looks like I’m sticking to a MacBook for now.
Giving up on iPad Pro. I sold my 12.9” M1 and am just keeping the Mini. Tired of the OS holding the hardware back. As soon as the announcement ended, I ordered the Minisforum V3 which runs full Windows 11 with 32Gb of RAM and a 1Tb SSD for $1199. All I want from the iPad Pro is the ability to dual boot into MacOS.
Sold my 12” too and kept the mini. The mini is such a great device. There’s no need for me to get a new iPad anytime soon. At those prices, its smart to hold onto them for 5 or more years.
You should do 30 seconds of research into "Minisform + bios update" and then realize you traded a device with ~8 years of software updates for one which comes from a company which ships devices with known UEFI problems that are never resolved. I have a MinisForum UN1260. I'll give you an hour to find the drivers for it. (Hint 1: Windows 11 doesn't resolve at least 7 major drivers on its own.) (Hint 2: MinisForum strips driver listings from their pages after Windows releases a new "H" version... regardless of whether or not they're still for sale. So, when 24H2 releases, everything released with 23H2 will be removed. Windows typically releases twice a year, meaning 22H1 would only last until 22H2's release *the same year*.)
The reason for the iPad Pro to exist for the masses is so that people can say they own an iPad Pro. Then proceed to use it to watch TH-cam and Netflix, read the odd email and play Candy Crush.
absolutely the same with those big arse phones. “i got the iphone 20 pro ultra max giga humongous. 6000 bucks.”. to post their bullshit dances on tiktok.
You could also flip your argument and say that it’s really cool that the non-pro iPads get all the features a non-pro person would want without having to upgrade higher. You could argue the screen tech is better but 99% of non-pro people don’t care.
The problem has been that many people think "pro" just means better and/or bigger. To me, "pro" means you should be using the device to make money or as part of your career/job - not just for Netflix and playing games. Mortals should stick with the normal iPad, or, if you _really_ are feeling spendy - iPad Air. But, in a sense, the Pro is a halo device for everyone else and it makes the iPad Air look downright reasonable.
Apple’s ’upgrades’ are getting more and more minute and elusive. Squint and you’ll miss how exactly these machines are supposed to be better. Disappointing.
We’re getting to a point where tech is so advanced already that improvement is slowing down significantly, they should focus on iPadOS if anything and bring this hardware to life
I don't get the nano-textured glass. Especially paying so much more for it. You are sacrificing text sharpness for less glair. Unless you are working outside or in strange light that you can in no way adjust, why?
I'm not buying an ipad until they remove the chains of IpadOS and basically give us a light MacOS, or at least the option to dual boot. All this power for a glorified netflix machine is just ridiculous to me...
Apple has lost its soul with these online keynotes! They should bring back the folks that actually worked on these products and put them on a stage and let them geek out a bit like they used to
All we've asked for is a decent ipad mini that gets updated... 2k or a bare minimum 1080p upscaled 120 hz *atleast* oled screen (no liquid retina or w.e apple calls them), an overclocked processor that is better than or rivals samsung, some amenities from the higher end lineups i.e centered-camera/productivity seamless ecosystem features ect, an apple pencil support that should work just as well as it does on the ipad pro with the edition of pro apps you'd find on the pro as well (alot of people get apple products for the pro/apps and the mini is one of apple's best selling products so what are we doing here?) + the newer hardware-based ray tracing *self explanatory And for the love of God can we get a better multitasking/customization & a pc like desktop mode considering the chipset and ram is enough
weak coverage: iPad covers a broad set of users. Absolutely no problem with a $2,600 for professional users who use the iPod to make their living. It is NOT meant for the average user. There are no other tablets that can touch the iPad...
Remember this comment while are you are waiting the bending issues.. even the 2022 iPad Pro thickness was under 6mm.. so technically just a marketing bullshit, it's not even 1mm thinner..
I disagree. iPad Air update is pretty solid. Pros are only worth it if you plan to use it and/or _really_ value OLED. Probably first update in which the Pro will be only for Pros. This was the same problem with all the folks complaining about the Pro Display at $6k - all the mere mortals complained it was too expensive yet the real pros thought it was a bargain because a good reference monitor is $20k.
this are essential problems in music we will never ever have enough power, not in 100 years. so thats not at all a first world problem, now the video folks and macOS crybabies, yes this is total first world problems
@6:00 its because of magnet and charger placement around the camera. they switched that with the 10th gen and the USB-C Pencil (this one is also notoriously not-sticky on the portrait-camera design ipads)

This iPad Pro is just as thin as its sales figures are going to be. In Germany the 13 inch iPad Pro starts at 1550€ (1668$) - Where do they get the idea that people will pay so much money for a tablet, when at the same time their iPhone sales are a falling across the globe, because their new phones are to expensive and the old ones are too good to be replaced (and that effect is even more obvious with their iPad line up)
"I like the features and I find it useful" I mean the same thing could be said about the iPad pro vs iPad air. Brighter, more colourful screen with true blacks, 120hz, way better speakers, more powerful CPU/GPU for gaming etc. There are a lot of reasons to buy the Pro other than just drawing. Personally if I was gonna get one, which I won't, I would get the 11" (because its more portable), skip the keyboard because who cares about a keyboard on an iPad? I have a MacBook and PC if I wanna do real work/writing, and I would get an aftermarket case that actually protects it like a Zugu or STM and I would get the pencil, not because I am an artist, but because it's useful for taking notes when at a seminar etc or when you are doing things that require more accuracy like video editing or playing board games on BGA. I used to have an M1 iPad Pro 11" and I sold it to buy a 14" MacBook Pro and honestly, I don't really have any FOMO. If I want a portable device I have my iPhone 15 Pro Max and if I want a computer I have my MacBook Pro so I feel like the iPad sits in an awkward middle ground and isn't really needed. It would suit someone who had a phone and a desktop but if you already have a laptop, especially a Mac laptop, then it's a little redundant to have an iPad as well unless you really need the pencil.
Yes, you can't reuse your Apple Pencil 2nd gen with the new iPad Pros but hey if you're upgrading from the iPad and you have a USB-C Apple Pencil, you CAN reuse them on the new iPad Pros. So as John Ternus mentioned in the keynote (35:10) you actually have TWO Apple Pencil models to chose from ... 😂
You know what's the most disappointing? The fact that the Apple Pencil Pro isn't supported on the iPad Pro M2s! i eld off buying the 2nd Gen Pencil for so long, only to get a bummer. The morons aren't reducing the price of the outdated Pencil too smh.
What? I heard that the iPad Air was compatible with it and thought, "oh good, should be compatible with M2 as well then". They have the same chip, and both support Hover. Oh well, not surprising, and I just sold my M2 anyways.
5:50 I get what you're saying but like you said the keyboard makes sense because the new iPads are significantly thinner. Is buying a new $100 pencil really going to stop someone that's already paying at least $1k on these new iPads? No...they can sell their old one and realistically upgrade for like $50-70.
@Luke Miani The new ipads have a different apple pencil charging system, because of the landscape camera the wireless charging coils had to be redesigned, hence the compatibility issue.
Honest question though, why is it a bad thing that you don’t feel like this product is for you if you are not an artist? Isn’t that great? That means you could easily justify not upgrading or going with a cheaper model like the iPad Air
apple over exaggerating the importance of the event as per usual, they just bumped the specs and updated the peripherals, this was supposedly the most important event since the launch of the ipad itself
Really what did people expect ? A round ipad or something ? its a 11" or 13" flat thingie with a computer inside how can the rest not be 'just some bumped specs' ...
6:02 they redesigned the magnetic charging and mounting system around the camera. That is why the new Apple Pencil is only compatible with the new iPads. Why they didn’t just put it on the other side I don’t know instead they spent a lot of engineering resources to completely re-engineered the magnetic charging and mounting system. Compatibility with older Apple Pencils.
5:50 the Apple Pencil Pro charging mechanism is new compared to the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, because it have to compensate the horizontal camera orientation on the new iPads (both Pro and Air) So it’s nothing to do with the M2 chip that’s in fact inside both the new iPad Air and the previous iPad Pro M2 Edit: That will make sense if you think about it: The 2nd gen pencil doesn’t support the new iPads and the pencil pro doesn’t support the previous iPads
The reason for the 2 different apple pencils is that the new front camera arrangement makes the prior wireless charger on the 2. gen Apple Pencil not match the wireless charger in the new iPad chassis. This is the reason why the Apple Pencil Pro isn’t compatible with older iPads and vise versa.
Not to glaze Apple, but the reason the new pencil isn’t backwards compatible is the redesigned charging config to account for the new landscape camera. Completely different layout under the screen.
graphic designer / animator here , uhh my M1 is doing great sooo why should i upgrade again? Unless we get a less restricted OS, i dont see how the M4 is even working to its full potential
Hello, artist here! I do commission work professionally and I can NEAR assure you that nobody wanted any of this, I can only really think that 3D artists would like the new Apple pencils tilt. But IPAD OS is so limited that they can’t actually use programmes that they would be able to benefit from it with either way. Most digital artists can get a Wacom and an infinitely more powerful PC for rendering 3D images/ using toon boom or whatever. A whole extra £150 to squeeze the barrel instead of double tapping. (Because the Apple Pencil 2 can also open up menus you map it to) I got my Drawing tablet for £30 second hand and it’s a full OLED panel double the size of my IPad. And the pen comes as standard. I use my iPad Air 4 and an Apple Pencil 2 and it’s perfect for traditional art. This isn’t for artists either, it’s too expensive, what artist do you know was more than £100 to their name be for realsies.

Alot of their product range is like this now. I literally had to do this for the new iPads 🙃
Because iPad Mini won’t fit in your pocket like a phone… and if you want something bigger then just get the 11 inch. That’s how most people feel.

Otherwise, like you said, whats the point of having an M1 or higher if you cant use the full potential of it.

iPad Air is pretty compelling - basically just a cheaper version of last gen Pro with a few tweaks.
The only thing keeping me from buying an air is the lack of promotion display. I'm spoiled by the higher refresh rate lol

Of all the changes apple makes that's actually a very respectable reason to stop support of the 2. And they didn't raise the price. What we can then question is that the pencil 2 didn't get an official price decrease. But at least it has been discounted for a long time on 3rd party stores.

Imagine if a trillion dollar company had the ability to design its products to be compatible with its old products.
Thank you for the explanation.
About the Apple Pencil compatibility: it is probably due to the new landscape camera layout and they have to change the magnets/charging mechanism.
Yes
Its 0.1 mm thinner! I am sold.
Sold my 12” too and kept the mini. The mini is such a great device. There’s no need for me to get a new iPad anytime soon. At those prices, its smart to hold onto them for 5 or more years.
wise decision. yeah.... it doesn't run macOS and... I think it never will. But that's sooo funny coz apple is trying to make it into a real PC...
(Hint 1: Windows 11 doesn't resolve at least 7 major drivers on its own.)
(Hint 2: MinisForum strips driver listings from their pages after Windows releases a new "H" version... regardless of whether or not they're still for sale.
If I wasn't already spoiled by the promotion display in my 2018 pro I'd be buying the air for sure.
2024 new iPads released without oled and 120hz is inexcusable
The problem has been that many people think "pro" just means better and/or bigger. To me, "pro" means you should be using the device to make money or as part of your career/job - not just for Netflix and playing games. Mortals should stick with the normal iPad, or, if you _really_ are feeling spendy - iPad Air. But, in a sense, the Pro is a halo device for everyone else and it makes the iPad Air look downright reasonable.
Apple’s ’upgrades’ are getting more and more minute and elusive. Squint and you’ll miss how exactly these machines are supposed to be better. Disappointing.
We’re getting to a point where tech is so advanced already that improvement is slowing down significantly, they should focus on iPadOS if anything and bring this hardware to life
OLED display was pretty nice update, but also a price hike too. I'd have to see it in person to know if I care or not.
If they make the ipad pro able to use terminal and basically replace macbook airs, then fine… but they haven’t and probably wont.
Luke, most people Arne't buying a full iPad Pro kit every year
that one rich friend that buys the nano-textured glass 💀💀💀
*edit wow thanks for so much likes
And gets the 2TB option
I don't get the nano-textured glass. Especially paying so much more for it. You are sacrificing text sharpness for less glair. Unless you are working outside or in strange light that you can in no way adjust, why?
Just get the standard glass and put a pencil focused textured glass protector on. No matter how Nano the Apple screen is, it's going to get scratched.
Even Huion drawing tablets are getting more and more appetizing 😂
and you can’t even apply a screen protector to a nano texture glass to prevent scratches that will inevitably come with using the pencil.
Are you buying any of the new iPads?
I'm not buying an ipad until they remove the chains of IpadOS and basically give us a light MacOS, or at least the option to dual boot. All this power for a glorified netflix machine is just ridiculous to me...
Yess 🎉🎉
I'll Stick with my iPad
NO!
Rent is too damn high
Apple has lost its soul with these online keynotes! They should bring back the folks that actually worked on these products and put them on a stage and let them geek out a bit like they used to
Perhaps but that train transition would be hard to pull of live.
All we've asked for is a decent ipad mini that gets updated... 2k or a bare minimum 1080p upscaled 120 hz *atleast* oled screen (no liquid retina or w.e apple calls them), an overclocked processor that is better than or rivals samsung, some amenities from the higher end lineups i.e centered-camera/productivity seamless ecosystem features ect, an apple pencil support that should work just as well as it does on the ipad pro with the edition of pro apps you'd find on the pro as well (alot of people get apple products for the pro/apps and the mini is one of apple's best selling products so what are we doing here?) + the newer hardware-based ray tracing *self explanatory
And for the love of God can we get a better multitasking/customization & a pc like desktop mode considering the chipset and ram is enough
weak coverage: iPad covers a broad set of users. Absolutely no problem with a $2,600 for professional users who use the iPod to make their living. It is NOT meant for the average user. There are no other tablets that can touch the iPad...
Remember this comment when these start bending by the thousands because they sacrificed structural rigidity for thinness.
first thing i thought. “but will it bend?”
Skeptical too. Current iPad Pros are thin enough, no one was asking for this. Perhaps too thin if they made their logo a heatsink.
Remember this comment while are you are waiting the bending issues.. even the 2022 iPad Pro thickness was under 6mm.. so technically just a marketing bullshit, it's not even 1mm thinner..
@@britneyfreek JerryRigEverything will answer that question for us
I doubt it because of Apple past experience. Maybe a dozen of iPads bent and half will be TH-camrs doing it on purpose.
It's not that the upgrades are mid. It's the price that is outrageous and the value proposition is completely wrong.
I disagree. iPad Air update is pretty solid.
I don't understand what you're saying I think they're fairly priced
@@Kevin-mx4vmthis guy just said fairly priced? what the hell 😆
First world problems. I’ll be getting the super Pro because my 5-year old Pro is long in the tooth for doing music production
this are essential problems in music we will never ever have enough power, not in 100 years.
so thats not at all a first world problem, now the video folks and macOS crybabies, yes this is total first world problems
@6:00 its because of magnet and charger placement around the camera. they switched that with the 10th gen and the USB-C Pencil (this one is also notoriously not-sticky on the portrait-camera design ipads)
Best update ever - much better than expected. I ordered the base model 11" iPad Pro Wi-Fi.
A easyer to bend iPad?
They still ain’t update the fucking iPad mini!!?? Nah put Tim Cook in jail at this point
Still tired of waiting. Dont even know if they will update it at this point. Hopefully they do soon.
i never understood the mini ipad, makes no sense to me but go ahead :)
i want WAY bigger iPad sutdios like 60" and more
@@gilbert512 prolly a M1 SE chip at this point 😂😂
@@JohnSmith-pn2vl feel like the iPad is minimalistic & can get an XDR display plus at least an M1 or M3 chip for all that size might as well get a 16 inch MacBook Pro it’s more powerful and serves a better purpose the iPad is kinda a thing for kids and artist and just to browse
This iPad Pro is just as thin as its sales figures are going to be.
In Germany the 13 inch iPad Pro starts at 1550€ (1668$) - Where do they get the idea that people will pay so much money for a tablet, when at the same time their iPhone sales are a falling across the globe, because their new phones are to expensive and the old ones are too good to be replaced (and that effect is even more obvious with their iPad line up)
natürlich kostet ein iPad pro mehr als ein laptop das ist doch nichts neues.
ich werde 4 kaufen, 3 pro und 1 air alle 13"
Thank god they’ve brought out something more powerful as my M1 just wasn’t powerful enough to do what everyone uses their iPads for…. Watching TH-cam
Imagine not being tech-savvy and going to the Apple store for your first iPad. So many different iPads, 4 Apple pencils. Total confusion.
There’s only two pencils and four ipad lines to choose from
Apple genius: you're gonna need the latest m4 ipad and all the pencils
Which is why they have workers at the store and compatibility labels.
Heads would roll if Steve Jobs was in charge right now
@@toranp.8942 I don't think he would be happy with so many products.
You know what's the most disappointing? The fact that the Apple Pencil Pro isn't supported on the iPad Pro M2s! i eld off buying the 2nd Gen Pencil for so long, only to get a bummer. The morons aren't reducing the price of the outdated Pencil too smh.
There’s no old pencil for sale
@@chidorirasenganz it is... 4 pencils still on sale, imagine the lightning one is still available.
What? I heard that the iPad Air was compatible with it and thought, "oh good, should be compatible with M2 as well then". They have the same chip, and both support Hover. Oh well, not surprising, and I just sold my M2 anyways.
@@calebchristensenviolin IKR! I was so bummed when the Air supported it and the last gen Pro doesn't!
3rd party shops will surely try to get rid of their stock on a discount, just wait a bit
U are damn right. Now iPad Pro literally means for professionals.
Nice rant, but honestly a M4 9 core CPU/10 core GPU with 8GB RAM in an iPad is somehow holding anyone back?
Maybe the ram and the m4 not, but this iPadOS is pretty much holding me back… way back
They removed the second camera as well!!!
Honest question though, why is it a bad thing that you don’t feel like this product is for you if you are not an artist? Isn’t that great? That means you could easily justify not upgrading or going with a cheaper model like the iPad Air
I was underwhelmed before I was underwhelmed today. The only game changing feature Apple can introduce to the iPad Pro is MacOS.
Quad speakers + OLED display = phenomenal media consumption device.
No matter how many speakers you put in handheld device, it will always sound worse than $19 headset
A 1300$ media consumption device. You could get a 65“ Oled Tv for that money.
@@RatchetLive true, but the tv isn’t portable.
@@RatchetLiveyou going to take that 65’ TV on the plane and traveling with you or to work etc?
apple over exaggerating the importance of the event as per usual, they just bumped the specs and updated the peripherals, this was supposedly the most important event since the launch of the ipad itself
Really what did people expect ? A round ipad or something ? its a 11" or 13" flat thingie with a computer inside how can the rest not be 'just some bumped specs' ...
@@scb2scb2A camera and battery life of 50 hrs like the Iphone has now would have been NICE…..
"Please give me an OLED Mac." YES!!! We need an OLED Mac!
5:50 the Apple Pencil Pro charging mechanism is new compared to the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, because it have to compensate the horizontal camera orientation on the new iPads (both Pro and Air)
So it’s nothing to do with the M2 chip that’s in fact inside both the new iPad Air and the previous iPad Pro M2
Edit: That will make sense if you think about it:
The 2nd gen pencil doesn’t support the new iPads and the pencil pro doesn’t support the previous iPads
Then how is it that the new iPad Air supports both 2nd gen and Apple Pencil pro?
@@ethanjrdzit doesnt. Only USB C and the pro pencils
my grandma bought an M2 iPad Pro. They had a terabyte of storage just to look at Facebook because the salesman talked her into the “big display” 😑😑
your grandma should have stayed at home on that day 🙂
Not to glaze Apple, but the reason the new pencil isn’t backwards compatible is the redesigned charging config to account for the new landscape camera.
