The video was made for Britains weekly chart show “Top of the Pops” in ‘75. They were the first to introduce a video performance then and it did become the template when the rest of the world and MTV caught up with them in the ‘80s. They weren’t “glam rock or prog rock or pop rock or hard rock” they were ROCK period. The beauty of Queen was they could never be categorized because every album tasted different genres. I got to see them live 4 times. Best shows of my life.
Thrilled to see another new generation discover them!

Okay, sure, I'm old now, but I was a teen in the 70s, and I honestly feel sorry for kids today and what they get fed as "music". All computerized, all lip syncing, and when I was a teen we got artists who actually played their instruments in concert and actually sang their songs. Nobody was "singing" about their pussy, or killing cops, or anything else like that.

IMO You're listening to Queen, the best band going back to the early 70s. Freddie Mercury is the absolute greatest frontman of all! I feel that you'll be hooked and listening to more than 2 a month if you (and you should) go down the Queen rabbit hole. 👑👍No auto tune, wasn't around at this time. Not bad for almost 50 years ago, isn't it? Amazing, you picked up on several things that many don't get especially, your first-time listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, I'm impressed!

Freddie's voice sounded different in part because he always sang with passion and emotion, he never just "phoned it in". This video was made in 1975, when glam rock was popular. This song is unique, Freddie was working on three songs when he had the genius inspiration to combine them into this epic masterpiece. Nothing quite like it before or since.

I was born in 1962 & therefore grew up listening to real musicians like Yes, Deep purple, ELP, Rush, Jethro tull & many others. They did so many vocal overdubs on this track that the tape almost snapped. You made me laugh when you commented that you couldn't wear their outfits while you're sitting there wearing your girlfriends shower cap. 😂😂😂

There is no equal to Queen and Freddie Mercury. This rock and roll opera is a masterpiece that’s never been duplicated. All members sheer talent in music, highly educated and passionate. They built MTV and it was a great time for music. The 70’s were the greatest times for music. I believe Bohemian Rhapsody hit the #1 spot in several different decades, quite an accomplishment.

This song was recorded in 1975. Auto tune didn't come into existence until 20 years later.
This was the first music video put out to promote a song, 6 years before MTV.
If you like opera listen to Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe (Spanish opera singer) song Barcelona.
Freddie was a fan of Caballe and he wrote an album of songs they did together.
The song Barcelona was used for the 1992 Olympics that were held in Barcelona.
    Sadly Freddie died in 1991.

Fun seeing your trance - more where that came from! Add the 1970s to your wish list as this song was released in 1975. Those "3 songs" woven together = a "rhapsody" and changed the music industry, rock song structure; launched MTV, inspireed artists then and now - all via a video that cost $5000 to make. It never stops. Huge music catalogue, plus Freddie's solo work (including opera with Monserrat Caballe - the first time crossover btwn rock & opera). Go for it!

I was like 15 years old when "Bohemian Rhapsody" came out. It was a revolutionary song for sure. Before that, though, they had a very popular (and cool) song called, "Killer Queen" which is about a sort of female James Bond type. It's a great song and worth a listen.

The “operatic” section (it’s referred as such) is Freddie + Brian + Roger, again multitracked over and over until the tape was almost see-through - in *that* part, yes it’s Roger hitting those insanely high notes.

The 80's were a lot of fun and some fantastic music.
I think it would be interesting to see you do a wide range of genres from the 70's and 80's to see what you really like and then take a deep dive into the artists that you really vibe with.
You'll probably gain a lot of subscribers when you doing "old" music.

A couple of songs by Queen per month, won’t cut it.
Freddie Mercury had many different looks. This video is an evolution of Freddie from 1973 thru 1991 and snippets from around 20 songs. (And there are a lot more I’d you to listen to) Every song is a must see and more. This runs 5:18. His last look is heartbreaking, as it was only months before his death from AIDS, but never wanted to quit.

If you were born in the 60's or 70's, you'd be watching young people do reaction videos of the music you grew up with and get chills watching people open their mindset. We did, we really did, have it good! Thanks for the reaction!

This song was released in 1975. No autotune just raw talent are you crazy Freddie was one the greatest rock vocalists ever. No one ever mentioned him you are clueless this is not the 80s or the 90s it's 1975. Nearly 50years ago.

You’d need to be born in the 60’s or early 70’s like me to enjoy true professional musicians with no auto tune performing incredible music!

Not only do they play their own instruments, Brian May (guitarist) built that guitar with his father. Brian also has a PhD in Astrophysics.

This was 70's (75?) So you'd need to be even older lol. Really genuinely pleased how much you appreciate Queen and Freddie. Helping their music to live on

No auto tune in 1974 when it was recorded ,just pure natural talent, rhapsody is a mash up of songs telling one story .

Bro. This is the 70's at its best. Even Queen's disco sound, "Another one bites the dust" for example, is still rock. Check it out.

Have you heard MJ's duets with Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of Queen? "State of Shock" and "There's More to Life Than This"?
MJ was a big Freddie fan.
I really enjoyed this review. And look forward to more reviews. Freddie did so many beautiful songs in so many different styles including an album, apart from Queen, with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballe. I hope you continue to explore their catalog. Well done!
