At this point so many Fey and Monstrosities that could just be Magical Beasts so I allow them at my table for Wildshape and other Beast related abilities
Im not allowing them as wildshapes, which is good as i have 2 druids, but i gave the party a giant goose as a pet in storm kings thunder and ive been letting them use speak with animals to talk with it. They named it Rihanna gooseling
@@МаратГабдуллин-б5ф CR 4 is the only one without an insanely powerful option. The only problem is the lack of versatility, there is one or two must-use options at each CR. But to add versatility that would actually be useful, those new options would have to be close to as powerful as the already exploitable options. Which, no surprise, the options in this book are much more powerful than any beasts already available, and would essentially make Moon Druid insanely powerful. This would make moon druids already problematic power, more problematic. And non moon druids already have all the options they need.
I ran the Giants campaign in Tales from the Yawning Portal. It got to be a real slog as the Giants had almost no answer to the higher level spells the party had, especially from Xanathar's, which tend to be Int saves. Having this book I would have totally re-jigged the adventure to mix it all up and provide a proper challenge.
Giants bridge the gap between elementals and fleshy kind. That aside. Giants are also deeply involved in the Fantasy of high fantasy. Wether it be the whimsy of a fairytale or the horror being overpowered, giants are as iconic as dragons. Unlike dragons, giants are universally recognizable. Dragons mean different things to different cultures, but a giant is just any Big entity that looks and maybe acts like a person. Because of that having a myriad of giants is both easy to do and accessible to all kinds of storytelling. There's a weird dichotomy with giants where they're so ubiquitous that they are incredibly mundane, but an immediate and accessible way to say you are in a fantastic setting. A story just needs One giant to make it a fantastic place. Having even one giant is akin to having multiple moons. Its perfectly mundane in nature, but Earth only has One Moon and tampering with her domain of the night sky is an unassuming but unforgettable way to separate your setting from earth. At the same time, unlike dragons, giants are taken for granted. The Na'vee in Avatar are giants. Paul Bunyan is a giant. The folk gods of europe have a pattern of being akin to giants or are outright called giants. Stories sometimes just seemingly at random have half giants, or characters reffered to as giants because they're so huge there's no other word for them. Giants appear in scifi stories where even dragons can't. The universal concept of "strangers who are bigger than us and probably dangerous" is never going to die. Dragons are almost a melange of regional cultural influences and morals, but giants are eternal.
I love giants. I want to run a giant themed campaign, where there is an active civilization and Nation of Giants that the players and other countries must deal with
hey ted i want say the kickstarter for the GM guide for TOV is out if you are interest to make a video it will be interesting to hear your opinion on it 😁
This was a pretty weird video for you, I normally really like your walkthroughs but this was more of you just reading the stat blocks for us with basically no opinion. It was great if you just want text to speech but otherwise it got boring and I shut it off

I think they dont want stat blocks that can cast spells or have very large aoes to be considered beasts (correct me if im wrong)

Druids dont need any more overpowered beasts that they can exploit.
@@dwil0311no they absolutely do. There are no good beast at cr3-6

that absorbent fleece could make for some interesting armor options...mud hulk absorbing people like that should cause it to grow
they absolutely should be beasts and i would hope all DMs would agree >
This is like one of the only ways I can see the new monsters so thank you.
Love the fact that I’m about to run SKT and thankfully found out about this book. This is going to be fun.
I'm running goats/ giant monsters here soon going to watch this series for sure for inspiration
Now for The Book of Many Things cover. By your initiative, of course.
I Love that you're Going back to missed Stuff!
I love there being a giant book, but you'd think they'd have done fey first? To be honest, impressed they didn't go for the lower hanging fruit.
