Thing about the elemental giants, conjure elemental can be used to summon them. You can also summon the echo of Demogorgan.
With the titans being such a pivotal part of giant lore, it would have been nice to see a titan template, IMO, or something of the like.
I don't think 5e really does "templates" - they give you a variety of monsters of a type, and expect the DM to extrapolate from there.
While I do regret that they didn’t include lore for Lenaxis and Hartkiller (most likely due to the darker parts of the stories they’re in), I think the Empyrian statblock in the MM is a dead ringer for the Titan.
I could even see combining it with some features from the primordial giants in this.
Also I guess to be fair they’re also more specifically Forgotten Realms, but I do still agree with you
@@Lord_zeel There are some templates. Half-dragon, shadow dragon and dracolich from Monster Manual come to mind
Gotta love when a book goes all out on the creature entries. Monster Stats are some premium DM content, showing off what you are allowed to do in monster creation.
Just use Planeshift Ixalan for your elder Dinosaurs. Enjoy
Oh man adding those templates onto the Bigby dinos would have really put them over the edge for me.
I’m ok with just giant dinosaurs but I do think they shouldn’t have had a bit more too them. Also that they should still be beasts XD
There's lots of neat little details all over. While I'm still mad they changed the Death Giants from previous lore, overall, I'm happy with this product for once!
What was the old death giant lore?
@@hircenedaelen They were really into Shar, other evil gods, necromancy and actually enemies of the Raven Queen, and no relation to cloud giants, they were there own unique giants.
@@duckmanguy8575 cool. I think with BG3 bringing more attention to Shar, I think they definitely could've kept the old lore. Did they have any connection to Annam or were they totally separate?
@@hircenedaelen They were totally separate, they're completely separated from the ordining, you look up the forgotten realms wiki for more.
In the realms specifically they were ‘ash giants’ who weren’t Ash Giants who made a pact with Shar after their Netherese allies Empire collapsed. I could still see the same thing happening with this starblock, and maybe even some made pacts with either God
I believe the undead giants appeared in an Old dragon magazine.
Oh, man, i have an elemental campaign im writing. These elementals will go great in it
Nice seeing a good amount of new elementals. Overall liking the monsters but you're right it's pretty disappointing they just made the ancient dinosaurs just like... extra big dinos instead of taking the opportunity to make kaijus
For how whimsical the Fensir’s are I’d allow them to be playable at my table. I already allow Large characters like Orcs, Goliaths, or Large One-Piece Humans. Just pack more UV1,000,000 and same sunglasses like Drow used to do XD
I adore the design of most of these monsters, but the Death Giants left me feeling crushed.
I loved the old lore for them. What made them who they were was originally a desperate deal to save their people with an unknown evil that turned out to be their own damnation. Now it's been reduced to a simple gamble with the Raven Queen for no real reason. Kinda killed the interesting part of them.
As a DM, I tend to ignore whatever lore changes WOTC makes for 5e and incorporate them into my game.
Nice video! For the next one, could you position the camera on the left so we could see the art better?
Ayo Ted, are you gonna look into MCDM's Flee Mortals?
Eventually yes!
Bro sauropods are long neck dinosaurs
Can't wait to use these new creatures, they look great after being updated from the ai art ones
JEEEEEPERS. well, at least nobody can say they pulled a Spelljammer on this one. Lots and LOTS of content. I would probably buy this if they didn't drop the ball on the art and druid subclass.
At least they’re fixing the art. I was looking forward to the Druid and Wizard. But the rest of the book is awesome
The Hit Points and Damage numbers seem very low (I thought they were fixing all this). When 200 foot long monsters are dealing about 20-30 damage with an attack something is very wrong.
This is a forward compatibility thing with 1 dnd. WOTC is going the nerf route for balancing the classes in the play test materials
@@TheScottishKayaker I've been following the playtest stuff, they have not made any classes weaker as far I can tell. I can understand re-balancing the classes and sub-classes amongst themselves so no one dominates. But that is a separate issue to making the monsters an actual threat for their Challenge Rating. I'm sure WotC have spoke in one of the videos about how they plan to boost the high level monsters, if so why didn't they start with this book which is predominantly, high level monsters.
One big thing to consider is how a lot of monsters are getting ways to shut down spellcaster, while spellcaster arnt going to be able to counterspell even their spells with the direction they wanna go in
@@cameronpearce5943 That's 'fine' and all, but it doesn't mean diddly squat if hit points and damage numbers are ridiculously low. They have dinosaurs twice as big as the Tarrasque with almost ONE THIRD the Tarrasque's hit points. Now I know hit points are not based solely on mass, but when there is that much of a disparity, it just smacks of lazy design. I was looking forward to this book AND the new Monster Manual, but so far they don't seem to have a handle on these high CR monsters AT ALL.
I wonder how long and how one can tell if the printed version they bought is with the AI art or not. I for one would like to have the reprint without the AI, so I assume it would take a while.
I imagine they'll make an announcement about it
@@NerdImmersion that would be great!
I really wanted those primal Dinosaurs and possibly some elemental ones. I wish WOTC would take more time with some of these products and deliver on some of these things rather than just try to keep cramming out books.
Let’s gooooooo
Nice
I was first
Oh
Where is part 2?
Did I miss part 2 of this? G-Z?
