In this short section of the Not Bothered Podcast episode 7, Kurt Caz talks about his trip to Cuba, and what he really thinks about Cuba, Cuban people and the Cuban communist government.
After Kurt Caz visited Havana, Cuba earlier in 2023 with his friend, he left feeling like he should return to explore more of the country, as he knew that was the sort of content that his millions of viewers would love to see. Although he did not enjoy his time in Cuba, Kurt Caz's channel has grown massively by showing the reality of many countries that people don't visit, or they visit on package holidays, never leaving the resort, and therefore, never seeing the true reality of a country like Cuba.
Cuba has a communist dictatorship, which leaves the whole population living in devastating poverty. On Kurt's second trip to Cuba, he visited different parts of the country, away from the much-visited capital city, over to the lesser known parts of the country, away from the tourist resorts.
When Kurt Caz or another large travel vlogger visits a country, many desperate copycats instantly fly to that location to try to get some of the views from their audience, and that's exactly what happened after Kurt released his videos.
What happened to Kurt Caz after his Cuba series was released and gained tens of millions of views?

Nobody featured in Kurt's Cuba videos is in jail. It should go without saying that you shouldn't believe a defamatory video that included no proof, just drunk waffling idiots.
You should probably heavily question your intelligence if you actually believed anything said in that video. The expected level of intelligence from viewers of that lettuce is quite low though, let's be honest. Empty-heads.
It's not possible to show proof, when the claim is completely fabricated.

@ thedelacruz, yes, I remember listening to George Galloway ( a UK Communist and wannabe politician ) singing Fidel Castros praises, I had no idea and even bought a book he had written about meeting him in Cuba. Shortly after this though, I found out that under Castro, many people where imprisoned, tortured and shot for rejecting Communism, it’s a very sad situation in Cuba

In my 20+ years of Cuban travel, Kurt's videos were the most honest and straight forward I've ever seen. Edermis, the moto-taxi driver with no hands, demonstrates everything that makes me love the Cuban people so much. The island is full of people just like him. People who in spite of all their hardships are still dignified, proud and honest people. The Cuban regime has failed every Cuban citizen.

As a Cuban I’m very happy with the content he’s put out and the truthfulness of it. I’ve seen very similar backpacking channels going to Cuba and being very ignorant of the situation there and even praising the government but Kurt went there having done his research about the Cuban regime and how terrible it is, he was not afraid to speak his mind. He saw the light of my beautiful people but he also saw the terrible sad situation they are in. Thank you Kurt for your honesty it is very much needed for Cubans that the rest of the world knows the reality of what’s happening there.

The issue with Cuban food supplies. Government wants 200 tonnes of potatoes from farmer. Farmer grows 220 tonnes and sells 20 tonnes on the black market to earn a living. Government cracked down by setting up road blocks on the autobispo (main transportation hub). All black market goods were dumped and rotted on the side of the road. The farmer produced zero potatoes for the government next year. That is the situation. The country has incredibly fertile land and used to be a food exporter even under communism. Control was more important than feeding the people. If they want to feed the people, they need to free the farmers to earn.

The last time she went back to Cuba, she checked into a tourist hotel and then went to collect her elderly mother, to bring her back to stay in the hotel with her. Good point and the Canadians and their relationship with Cuba is a good example of why bullying is not the better option. Being a bully forces their people to the U.S. Look at the throngs of Venezuelans now flooding the U.S. southern border. Sanctions and hostilities towards Maduro hurt the poor, and simply gave us more refuges.

the embargo brings maybe 5 % of the problems. The rest its the system. I am not sure but I red that they import 90% of the food (including sugar) but 50 % of agriculture surface not usesed (from my impression is this much higher)
If they do some prvate then works but 90% work for geverment and get maybe 20 $ per month. This have nothing to do with the embargo.

My family property was confiscated, my father was sentenced to 30 years in prison, his only crime was to oppose the regime, and after a painful and lengthy process my mother and I were able to live Cuba were we were able to reunite with my father whom was released from jail and allowed to leave for Miami. Good video. Thanks for doing this “aftermath” video of the Cuba trip
I’ve been following Kurt for a couple of years and love the continent
But TH-cam keeps unsubscribing a lot of people I follow. I hate it and they do it to Kurt as well
So……. I realized a couple days ago that she’s I hadn’t seen her for many many months and I looked him up on TH-cam and there ago. It says I was unsubscribe, so no wonder and I’ve never ever unsubscribe from anybody
I have no idea what TH-cam’s agenda is for unsubscribing people and they’ve done it dozens of times on me
So….. I look up Kurt on TH-cam in and then it showing all the videos with his name and I clicked on one of the videos
actually was not the Kurt’s channel
But some other guy bitching about Kurt
Another guy from Cuba completely going crazy about Kurt and I’m like what the hell happened?
    Jesus !
so I watched Curt’s part 1 and Part 2 in Cuba videos
and yeah Kurt was simply trying to buy a Cuban cigar and Kurt was talking to a couple girls as well that might’ve been prostitutes or not. Court was just being nice to them, but not trying to get up with them
and it’s just all part of his every day walk around talk to people routine and post it
he wasn’t trying to get anyone in trouble,
but hey if some people were called out and exposed, it’s not Kurtz fault.
They could’ve told him not to film
and he would not have filmed.
They’re just so loosey-goosey in Cuba laws evidently fly
Cubans didn’t think they could be busted selling illegal cigars!!
It’s only a matter of time and inevitable if you’re just gonna sell illegal cigars to every tourist wandering through with the camera!!
Curt is right….. I saw what he saw!
    hell on earth
    Fuck communism!!
The guy on the video that was bashing Kurt, he said a bunch of people that Kurt filmed Ended up going to jail for 20 years.
    Come on!
But if it’s true, it’s just more proof that the government is fucking crazy down there

True, I didn't particularly like this Kurt character, he comes across extremely arrogant, however I saw his Cuba video after seeing Timmy Karter calling him out and have to say he did not do anything particularly wrong. If anything the Karter guy is taking info from a dodgy looking character and taking it at face value. Prob a guy up to no good who doesn't like to be found out. This is the problem with Latin (& Greek) culture (Karter is Greek). There is a culture of hiding illegal activity, dishonesty and not calling things out but instead protecting the corrupt. Until these countries change their mentalities their cultures and economies will remain dysfunctional and corrupt.

Back in day went on a humanitarian mission on a building project working with some of Fidel's administrators. Our group also met with Fidel to discuss dissidents. We brought much of our own canned food for the project, and still food stuffs we needed were horrible to find. Though i agree communism doesn't work, neither do sanctions. It only hurts the poor. Every country should have the right to its own sovereignty, and perhaps then they wouldn't dig their heals in, and might even let go of what doesn't work.

      Where has pure capitalism worked?

    • @Azzury.
      @Azzury. 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@brendanthompson7659Capitalism doesn’t even have a meaning anymore. Capitalism as an economic concept means the ownership of production in private hands. Meaning private enterprise versus government control of the means of production. If you want to see a nation which implemented the closest thing to a purely privatised economy, early USA would be the best example and they produced the greatest amount of wealth and prosperity in the shortest amount of time in human history. Purely because it’s a system of rewarding people for their individual efforts, rather than to punish.
The problem is Capitalism as a societal philosophy, as a governing ideology, means the power belongs to those who control the money or hold the most wealth. Therefor, who controls us are those who can work their way to the domination of capital in a society. Not the smartest, not the most honourable, not the best and brightest, nor the people who inherit titles, or the people who sacrifice and take a pledge or an oath, those who prove their loyalty to their nation and its people, but to those who hold the most wealth and only them. That is the failing of Capitalism, and in this context there is no “not pure capitalism versus pure capitalism” that meets a specific set of criteria where systems can merge to create some sort of ideal system - all societies are purely Capitalistic as all are controlled primarily by the chief holders of wealth. Whether a society has a welfare system, regulates enterprise, or has a progressive tax system is really of no difference. Such is the faulty discourse we are sold in our societies, and why we are ill-equipped to deal with what is going on. Both because we lack understanding, and lack agency.
