This documentary was a fascinating account of Brahma’s life. I awoke very early this morning and listened to it. It brings back many memories of my childhood studying the piano. The lullaby. Which I learnt as a young child was played now and brought back many memories. An excellent documentary . Thank you.
This documentary is truly Human, truly revealing of so much of Brahms' Humanity, which I had never seen or of which I had never read, that I was deeply touched, and, grieved, and that I was left with a heart and soul full of the deepest and highest admiration for The Great Composer!!!!+
This documentary features a wonderful selection of Brahms' compositions. Among them his second sextet, the variations on a theme by Haydn, 2nd and 3rd symphonies and his second cello sonata.
Brahms, what words can be used to describe his music. Only Schumann got it right when he called his wife Clara, after first hearing Brahms play in his salon, "Clara you have to come and hear this."
They were contemporaries of each other, both great composers and each had an unusual relationship with a woman in their lives. And each had beards for much of their lives. They met very rarely and hardly appreciated each other’s music. But their music was the greatest gift to humanity. Even though this video is about only one of them the similarities of both are striking.

It is not often discussed that Robert Schumann's insanity resulted from his having delved deeply into occultic practices, which led him into tormented oppression by demonic spirits. I am one such who was set free through faith in the name of Jesus the son of God. There is no other remedy from these invited mental torments. I enjoyed this documentary very much.
mental illness was partially hereditary for Schumann, he was bipolar and schizophrenic, it ran in his family (his elder sister Emilie had committed suicide) - he also had syphilis and suffered from mercury poisoning

Thanks for that impression. Just read a book about Clara Schuhmann so this is perfect addition. I think, Clara was his lifelong great love.
