@@aligamerable Automatics still have clutches in the transmission. They’re more like friction rings than what you might think of when you think of a manual transmission clutch but yes they are clutches. And people burn them out all the time by towing more than the recommended weight or never changing their automatic transmission fluid. Should be changed every 30,000-50,000 miles no matter what any manufacturer tells you.
My mom use to watch Knight Rider as a little girl and she still watches it today

@@FirstDan2000 David Hasselhoff actually learned stunt driving from Jack Gill back in Season 1. He was able to do 180s and fishtail corners.

@ 2:12, that has to be the most impressive reverse 180 turn in the entire series.
The car doesn't even look like it's reversing that fast, but then the throttle transition and power was so major on the turn that you can see the rear nearside wheel is actually suspended off the road during the turn.
Pretty sick stuff.

I've seen this loads of times but only after having watched it tonight did I notice the rear wheel lift! Jack Gill said David became very proficient at driving and it shows in this clip.

Yeah since Kitts pursuit mode reaches already 350 kilometers per hour . So super pursuit mode is fully an airplane mode .
I wished they made more episodes.
Yeah, wish they could've done a Season 5 so RC3 would've at least gotten a second season. Or maybe even brought April back like they brought Bonnie back in Season 3. Imagine if Season 5 saw the entire cast together.
It would’ve been really cool to see what kind of major upgrade they would’ve given K.I.T.T. In season 5. I also would’ve liked to see RC ride a supped up All terrain Dirt Bike/Motorcycle that’s housed inside the F.F.L.A.G. Semi. I thought RC was a nice addition to the cast but I always felt like he was never given much to do.
If we had more seasons kitt would be so powerful.
If wishes were horsepower...... Knight Rider could have on the air longer than Baywatch. Either someone got greedy or someone else wanted to be a cheapskate.

Almost everything that KITT had we have today in our cars… except being able to go 450mph…

But aniway also the level of A.I. and the Autonomus Driving Level is night & day. In 2022 we're at level 3 Autonomus Driving while K.I.T.T is at an unimaginable level for now. Obviously IMHO and with all due respect.

@@leonsilcott4895 Well, in an episode after Garth Knight impacts KITT with the semi, Michael turns KITTs engine into a ram jet, which pushes KITTs speeds up to 300mph. In the beginning of season 4, we learn that SPM increases KITT’s to speed by 40%. 300 * 1.4 = 420.
In mods of GTA, you can get KITT to 450mph.

Was it like the "Super pursuit" model didn´t even have an engine at real life ? And those super pursuit extensions actually made the car´s aerodynamics much worse.
Somebody needs to Remaster Davilex´s PS2 Knight Rider games for modern consoles. Especially the second one was really good.
Ahh, that's because you don't understand the point of the extensions, they weren't actually there for aerodynamics, quite the opposite to an extent.
K.I.T.T could always do 300 MPH, but it was not practical to do so on public road situations, because the car would not be able to handle bends and other obstacles at that speed (not to mention emergency braking would be impossible at short distances on the standard configuration). It was a straight line desert top speed only, K.I.T.T. pretty much had a limiter on his engine to keep him road safe, which is why you never really saw him top 160 MPH in most episodes.
Super Pursuit Mode basically removed the limiter from the engine and the configuration gave the car more control at the higher speed, because the extensions/filters kept the air friction where it needed to be for the car to manoeuvre and hold the road sufficiently. So they were actually there to deliberately control the speed by promoting more downforce.
K.I.T.T always ran on liquid hydrogen, which is basically rocket fuel, but he never fully utilised the combustion system because of safety reasons as I said.
In Goliath Part Two, you got a sneak peak at K.I.T.T's full speed potential when Michael removed his turbine blades and geared a ram jet (basically just uncapped the engine).
Check the desert scene in Topaz Connection too, that's the only episode where you saw Michael legitimately floor K.I.T.T.
One of the 2 SPM cars was a mock-up for the hydraulic systems. Another car was fixed to be in SPM mode.

@@Longlostpuss Partly right. Ramjest needs supersonic speed to even start working and it's extremely fuel consuming. Also, KITT's turbine would power wheels, so no blades, no engine for KITT.

As a kid SPM had me beyond excited everytime that green button was pressed. Looking back, SPM was not necessary. Kitt could push 200+ in Regular Pursuit Mode. Only thing that could possibly serve a purpose was the spoiler system. Keep the boosters and such.
Same here. Loved it as a kid. As an adult I see its flaws and wish it could have been used smarter. Especially EBS : if you have time to talk about using it, you don't need it. It's not an emergency to simply slow down.
