Ahh the very first SPM, brings back memories.
I loved SPM's function of clearing any traffic in its wake. For me, this was its Jump the Shark moment.

Yeah, the show was getting silly by that point but the pop-out spoilers everywhere spoiled more than just aerodynamics. Definitely a shark-jump.
nah. I just think K.I.T.T. sent out traffic overrides that changed traffic patterns around him and so there would be less cars around. Kind of how Batman does the same in Gotham. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

Actually, Michael arrived 14 seconds AFTER the bomb shouldv'e gone off! So, thank goodness for faulty bombs!
For those wonder why the wings come out of KITT during SPM, it’s essentially to keep KITT on the ground during high speeds, otherwise KITT would go flying.

Ironic... those wings are on race cars in real motor sports right now/ In fact my moto has wings like that on it. They don't pop out they are static but they do help keep the bike planted for high speed pulls and hard braking stability. KITT has active areo, something only high end cars have now. In many respects we have cars like kit now. I can and do talk to my car, it talks back gives data, directions, active areo... Im missing missile and gun ports but what can you do.

After all these years, I just realized that Bonnie said she developed two new systems to make up for the lack of the molecular bonded shell. I think it would be terrifying to use super pursuit mode. going 300mph without that shell.
Wouldn't matter. The molecular bonding only prevented deformation of the body. The kinetic energy, compression waves, all that still would happen. Being in an indestructible paint can won't change the fact you're in a paint shaker when it hits things. If KITT, bonding or not going 300 MPH hits a wall, and decelerates down to 15 MPH all that inertia has to go somewhere. Michael is going to slam into his seatbelt at 300 MPH at say 200 Lbs of human. That won't be pretty. You hope that KITT with the bonding hits a wall and goes from 300 MPH to say 290 MPH.

Lol, continuity error, so the bomb has a Mercury switch so any movement will set it off, so Michael arrives and pulls it off the wall and pulls out all the wires!! Apart from that.......
Apart from that they drove twice along the same stretch of road during first SPM, the timer of the bomb reached 0, when KITT entered the vault, and any interior shot of KITT (also in future episodes) while in SPM still show him unaltered (rear spoiler not raised). Lots of errors, but while I see them, I don't mind :)

It's a good thing that big metropolitan city didnt have traffic, cross streets, uneven pavement, or any need for the protagonist to go anywhere but straight.

- car AI in the reality 40 years into the future: spying on human drivers, reporting everything they do and say to the home servers for better ad placement and even worse, report to the establishment whatever is going on within the vehicle without the knowledge or consent of the occupants. Also can provide some generic chat, like that is what drivers ever need
To be clear, scifi has been predicting the pros and the cons of technology for decades. Cyberpunk is an old genre, and they made plenty of warnings in the 80s too. It's just that tv shows were more shallow and lighthearted.

I just got so much happiness from watching this LOL. I was 10 years old when I last watched this and I absolutely adored this show. I’ll never forget begging my parents to allow me to stay up past my bed time just to watch it. Also, it was hilariously silly now to see it as an adult. When that idiot shots the elevator I almost lost it. 😂

To this day, I still have no idea where this Super Pursuit mode panel is located, I watched a youtube video introducing a second-hand prop KITT in private collection, the owner still didn't mention it.
Neither the SPM nor EBS buttons ever existed on the actual KITT Trans-Am's. It was an so called "insert dash panel" that only existed as a prop piece in the main Universal Studio's lot for close up filming. Same thing whenever a button is pressed on the main dash.

Yes there were scripts in the works but due to costs ect NBC pulledvthe plug and cancelled it.

No, it isn't William Daniels. He was the voice of KITT for all 4 seasons. The guy with the beard is actor John Considine, he plays the villain Phillip Nordstrom.
