Thanks Eli for another great video. Harvestella is a fantastic game and I hope we will get a sequel. One game I have been enjoying lately is Wylde Flowers, it is 100% voice acting with a great story.
I liked your video and ranking, it was helpful. And I'm glad you're playing Wylde Flowers, it was such a fun experience for me, definitely one with a great story and voice acting. It's so cozy and made my life happy for months :)
Of the games I've played, I agree with your rankings. My personal fav that's not on your list is Rune Factory 4. I've played through that one numerous times. It's on my top tier. Rune Factory 5 was disappointing to me so I played it once & never went back. I enjoyed Wylde Flowers & would put it in the A tier. I need to play it again because they've added content since then.
Out of the games I've played, I mostly agree with you. I would have put SOS: A wonderful life on tier A because I personally really like it. It does need some more things to do throughout the day and that's why I don't put it on S tier.
Light of Hope was my first farming game - have a soft spot for it! Stardew is my favorite on this list with over 6K hours on it LOL Having a blast with Winds of Anthos since they added the relaxed mode for time and stamina. Hoping to find that unicorn!
@elithegaymer No, I just love starting new farms and trying different methods of being successful. Most of my saves I have reached perfection but now I will have to go back and get the mastery skills.
I haven’t played all of these games so it was good to get your opinion on them, Eli! Thanks! I also recommend Moonstone Island! I am officially addicted to this game right now.
Glad to see Harvestella in top tier! It’s the first farming sim I’ve ever played, and pretty much the only game I’ve played since owning my switch since march of 23!
I absolutely love Harvestella. It makes me so sad that several other content creators hated on the game. I hope they make a sequel and it’s better received! I feel like the game does have some loyal fans, but lots of reviewers were harsh on the game at release which I think affected sales and general perception of the game. I almost feel like they must be playing a different game than I did haha. Especially those who hated on the graphics. It’s a beautiful game.
@@anthonydelorenzo6481 If you are okay with retro graphics, I’d say play Stardew Valley. Heck, even if you are on the fence about the graphics, I’d still recommend checking it out. Some swear by the Rune Factory games, but none of them have clicked with me, and I have tried almost all of them (except for 2 & 3).
Rune Factory can be great, it really depends on what you like. RF 3 got a remake for switch which I might get because I loved it on DS. RF5 has some interesting concepts that I liked like having multiple farm fields etc but it was also the first one I got bored playing. I think I wished it was an actual sequel to 4's story. I'd love a remake of the RF game the Wii had with the runey system but I don't see that happening any time soon.
The story for Light of Hope was really weird. The whole raising a sprite to adulthood then having the option to marry them was a little too Woody Allen for my tastes.
Amazing video, you convinced me with Littlewood, i was a but down because i didn't click with My time at sandrock, a bit also overwhelmed with all the micromanaging of almost everything you have to keep up. I also I'm interested in wind of Anthos, is difficult to say.
Unfortunately Littlewood drops off very very hard after mid-game stuff (after 10+ hours). I'm in year 4 of SoS AWL (about 45 hours in) and I agree it just doesn't seem like there's enough to still do, as I've unlocked all farm upgrades, have more money than I know what to do with, and have seen almost all the cutscenes. I do have a ton of nostalgia as I played the original so that made me overall more patient with the slow start but I feel like I progressed too quickly, and I don't like the hybrid mixing one by one either when there's really not much payoff.
Yeah, I am not the biggest fan of the hybrid crop system either. Talking endlessly to a plant to get hybrids one by one with a chance of failure after feeding two seeds? Um... no thank you.
I’ve only played 3 of these games but I would rank pioneers of olive town at the bottom then a wonderful life in the middle and then I would have Stardew valley at the top. I wish a wonderful life had more to do in it though besides farming, digging and fishing
Yay. I always don't understand why so many people thnk that One World is better than Light of Hope. Great that you don't think so. I personally think that Stardew Valley is a good game, but I will never understand the hype about it....., And I also think that farming games forget about the characters and backgrounds of them. If it's Olive Town or Winds of Anthos...they could do so much more with them.... I miss the times when charcacters were way more important for the devs and got more love. Like in HM: ToT or HM: Animal Parade.
The funny thing is, I think the fans still really want the characters to have more in depth backgrounds… not sure why developers seem to have shifted away from it. I made a video a while back about how nearly every aspect of gameplay in the SoS and HM series have evolved… except for the social aspects! And one could even argue that they’ve gone backwards!
You know it's ironic how people compare other farming sims to SDV because I think the creator, Eric, got a lot of inspiration from the original Harvest Moon games. It's pretty interesting. I'll be honest too, I also compare a lot of farming sims to SDV, but my reason for that IS because it's the first Farming Sim I ever played and it's still my fav in that genre, so it's the standard for me. Coral Island could give it a run for its money, but I am waiting for the full game until I do everything that is to do in the main game at least. Like this happens in other genres and Franchises too, I always compare Zelda games to my fav Zelda game, Twilight Princess. Cool video though.
Another great video! I agree with your rankings for the ones that I've played, except personally I'd put Friends of Mineral Town to A tier. The OG FoMT would be S tier for me though. I agree with you that the game can't really be considered better than the OG because of some of the stuff it lacks (unlike, imo, the AWL remake which is better than the OG in basically every way). They are two different experiences. I've had Gleaner Heights for ages, it seems so cool story wise, but every time I try to play it I just can't get into it. I'm glad it isn't just me. I'd also probably drop Pioneers of Olive Town down to C, but it did get better after they updated the game.
Oh my goodness, yes! The FoMT remake did some things better and some things worse than the original, but SoS AWL just improved everything from the original… but it just didn’t quite add enough. And yeah, gleaner heights would be a lot better if they were a bit nicer to the player and the social aspect was brought to the forefront a bit more… I mean, that’s probably the reason that most people bought the game. Not sure why they made it so frustrating to play. The mines? The worst ideas I’ve ever seen. Not sure what/if things improved with the season 2 pass.
Such a great video ... Actually Eli im still playing the old harvest moon series it has more depth than the new ones !! I played light of hope i rank it as D and pioner i rank it as C ... you see eli fancy characters without a great concept of story is not enough maybe if you play the old harvest moon like in 3ds and wii or ps2 you will understand my point !
For those I played I would rank them as follow: S : Harvestella & Stardew Valley A : Story of Seasons : Pioneers of Olive Town B : Harvest Moon : The Wind of Anthos & Story of Seasons : Friends of Mineral Town C : Story of Seasons : A Wonderful Life Didn't play the other so cannot rank them. Not in the list, but I would put Rune Factory 5 in rank B. Feels like my ranking is fairly close to yours.
Hey Eli I'm loving WOA I beat the main game with just at 45, hrs it was one of those things where I didn't read all of the guide because I wanted to not spoil everything and it was a request after the next I was like omg I'll never beat it haha but I did. I married Neil it's so good nastume has stepped up their game for sure. But I do have one question about the orange raptor don't they lay eggs at some point I've one forever and I've seen no eggs and my barn is upgraded just to the second upgrade.
I’m glad that you have been enjoying Harvest Moon the Winds of Anthos as well! Unfortunately the raptors in the game do not lay eggs… They are only mounts. Hopefully the next Harvest Moon will have a bigger variety of dinosaurs.
I haven't got harvestella myself. Personally Winds of Anthos, A Wonderful Life and Pioneers of olive town are S teir for me. A teir Stardew and Littlewood. Gleaner heights was awful....Id give it even lower than you did 😆 Everything else i haven't played.
Awesome video & keep up the good work & I’m going to be honest with u right now I think u should put Story of Seasons Pioneers of Olive Town should be on s tier all the way because it is the best farming game that marvelous & xseedgames ever made on Nintendo Switch & it is super rare to see the marriage candidates actually cry during the child event & they made the game just for everyone but they always made the game just for me because they always wanted to surprise me every single year & same goes to Story of Seasons A Wonderful Life because that game is so funny from the beginning to the end & I can laughed so hard while playing the game no matter what & even if I wear the dlc outfit while hangout with gordy I’ll will enjoy the game no matter what & I always have the best positive energy with farming game but I will have amazing time playing it & give the best review for the farming game no matter what
I think sunhaven is better than stardew valley tbh. I love the towns and love the fantasy aspect. Also alot of the clothing is amazing. So much customization
The games on today's list are all already out on the Nintendo Switch. Sunhaven is my to play list for sure along with Coral Island! Hopefully they will both come to the Switch soon!
I have a feeling that sunhaven will never come to switch. They haven't after all this time made the game on steam have full controler support. Also it plays horribly on steam deck from what I've read and that's for most of the bad reviews.
Please help me. I've been playing Harvest Moon for 100+ hrs. and haven't even seen half the map. To be honest I think I like Winds of Anthos more than Breath of the Wild. Relaxing games are great at times like this.
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I like The Winds of Anthos quite a bit. You really can take the game at your own pace. If you need some help, I have a few tutorials on my channel. I can also answer any specific questions you have!
I hate to say it but seeing FaeFarm in C is very fair.. It was so overly hyped, beautiful graphics yes but I didn't super enjoy it. I only played less than 10 hours on the game and I think I'm already over it 😭😭😭
Yeah, I’m not sure why this game was hyped to the moon and back by some content creators. I feel like it could be great with some adjustments though. Maybe put it down for now and wait to see what direction they take the game. I’ll definitely look to see what their DLC waves add, even if I am a bit disappointed with the base game.
The new graphics in harvest moon looks childish to me if they just work hard to make it like rune factory 5 graphics and the 2d portrait.. it would be better!!! The old harvest moon is something else ..old is gold ..as long as their is weak stories... harvest moon will never success and I know it's not the same old team sadly 😢
I’m only fluent in English and Chinese, but I have studied Japanese and Korean as well. I know enough Japanese to play and can understand the basics but maybe some deeper things will fly over my head, haha.

Too bad Square Enix barely marketed it

Wow, 6K hours in Stardew is pretty impressive! Is that all on one farm or do you have multiple saves? I think on the Switch I have around 400 hours.
