I want to thank you for these 3yrs later on! I began playing the month or so after BC launched and wanted to experience the vanilla game my friends bragged about playing all those years ago. I don't see too many changes from what I remember, and the fundamentals are still the same, but seeing some little tips you had and description of the event-based drops was informative. Thank you so much for this!
Amazing. Each profession has its items that make a decent amount of gold too. Except maybe engineering.. since you have to be an engineer to use any of the gadgets and most engineers would prefer to make their own. But engineering is arguably the strongest profession once maxed, especially for PvP. You can make rocket boots and stun grenades that can easily tip a battle to your favor. They also have some other really amazing items like helms and trinkets which can be harder to come by in Vanilla.. but again, its abysmal for making gold. If you wanna be the best, I'd mix armor crafting (leather, blacksmith, tailor) with engineering. You're gonna want to level a gathering toon as well to feed leather and cloth and ore to your main. Otherwise that Auction House gold bill will be steep. Having a tertiary toon as a herbalist and alchemist will also save you a ton of gold later on, if you're gonna be that serious about it.
My vanilla made as little money as current wow -Its all about the mats and endgame gear/stuff - You only can sell low gear the first weeks and nobody has money except spepedlevellers ( supposedly )
Saying fishing is the least important and just for completionists is a huge disservice to that skill. The mats for alchemy and the foods you can make with fish alone are enough to warrant better treatment than that :P
Hey man, just found your channel recently! You have great content, keep it up bro! It's a pleasure listening to you and your videos keep me hyped for the Classic release next week. Wish ya all the best.
Defnitely mages too for first aid. Any class really, and I always carry a stack if I'm healing. But mages, warriors and rogues are crazy if they don't get it. As for cooking, it was 100% intended to be leveled along with fishing. The nightfin in Feralas for casters I remember. Not sure about the others. But Nightfin Soup usually seels quite well on the AH anyway to all the lazy casters and healers who cba to level fishing. So that's a bit of gold from it even for melee and hunters. No reason not to. And it's very relaxing. No one ganks in Feralas because no one ever goes there. It's one of the most peaceful places in the game.
Fishing is a lot more useful than you describe. Aside from the winter squid, there are a variety of fish that create great food buffs. Alchemists will also need fishing for the Firefin Snappers and the Stoneskin eel to make potions which are required at endgame. Its a really underappreciated secondary profession in vanilla.
just a small tip... for fishing since it can take some time. Before you level your character to the next level make sure you leveled 5 skills in fishing during that level. By the time you will be 60 you have 300 fishing. The first levels will be a bit longer since you will pick it up around lvl 5
Many players will make the common mistake of a major main trade from a very very early level. You will not have the funds needed to raise it to a decent level. It will sit there at a lowish level until 60! No one will have the gear or funds needed to buy the products/services that you have anyway for the first few months. Gatherer/gatherer is very common. But selling to venders for the first few weeks pays off. Take advantage by selling mats on the AH after week 3. Stay the hell away from Enchanting until level 60. It's a gold pit that you will never fill up until you reach end game content. The cost of repairs, training skills is enough. Even skip some aspects of training . Don't be a noob, save everything for that mount at level 40! It will make life amazing in-game.
Yeah I kinda want engi for stun bombs as im on a pvp server as an ally lock and im expecting about 100000000000 undead rogues. But I may just get skinning until I have mats stored to get the engi level I need
@@WillEmmo I am on the EU RP pvp server. I am toying with Engi, but its a massive amount. Rogue will have to do, herbs i need anyway, Alc scales well with it after level 40.
Great overview. I just want to make a correction about fishing. Gaining fishing skill isn't based on the zone where you fish, it's based on successful fishing attempts. You can level 0-300 in Stormwind if you would like. All that higher fishing skill gives you is the opportunity to fish for higher level fish in other zones.
I played a healer in Classic, a lot of my gold came from fishing and cooking. Winter Squid, Nightfin Soup and Stonescale Oil were the main ones. Having played a healing spec since level 10, i only learned First Aid in Naxx progression for Loatheb...
Fishing can be very useful, since alchemists can make reagents from certain types of fish. In Vanilla I was able to make a few gold an hour fishing up stonescale eel and selling them at the auction house.
LOL I played from just before ONY to cata...I loved the old talent trees with 50+ talents...and the long quest chains...Watching your vids makes me wanna play again.
Fishing is a primary profession, which should be leveled as fast as possible. Because, not only it helps leveling cocking, gain Alchemy healing/mana potions and gold, but additionally it allows to skip some of gathering profession/AH altogether. For example crates from from wreak pools in booty bay, will contain leather. You then can sold it or use for leveling your professions. And depending of time/population, there can be a lot of those wreak pools.
Idk bout that fishing snub stonescale for pots, night fin for soups, the mentioned squid. It's very useful to gather ur own vs paying the premium in the AH.
definitely going for cooking and fishing combo, adds a lot of RP; herbalism is just amazing and I have always loved alchemy so it is an easy choice, nevertheless I am on the fence about going two gathering, herbalism and skinning, and make gold; release is too close.
Didnt gathering proffs give you some perks? Like skinning gave you a crit chance bonus etc? Was this a thing in Vanilla? I can't quite remember, its been that long ago!
@@Mantaur104 Ah, I have just done some digging and the master of anatomy crit bonus (skinning) .. lifeblood heal (herbalism) bonuses were added in Wotlk and all gathering proff bonuses were removed in WoD.
I expect mining nodes are going to be excessively difficult to get in the first few weeks, due to the popularity of Engineering as a profession. I suspect it will be similar to the early days of TBC when Jewelcrafting was just released and everyone wanted to try it. For the first few weeks or so, you had max levels crawling all over the starter zones, taking mining nodes away from the low level players. Herbs may be slightly easier, because they only really pair with one other profession and its only other use is to make money. It will probably still be very hard to reliably gather them in the opening weeks, but it should be easier then mining nodes at least. Even though a lot of players recommend not starting professions until your first character is max level, I still expect a lot of people will ignore this and go for it anyway, as is their right. Personally, I plan to give it a shot in the early levels too and see how far I can get, but I won't obsess over it. If I have to backtrack and level it up in a later stage of the game, I'm cool with that too.
I'm going mage. I want tailoring + enchanting for endgame, but should i take skinning on launch to make some extra cash for my mount or is it better to just take tailor + enchant right off the bat?
You didn't mention increased server caps and that herbs and veins are not shared, so only 1 can gather them resulting in MUCH tougher time for mining and herbalism in wow classic
I think the reason Herbalists get a bag rather than skinners or miners is to help offset the bag space consumed by the variety of herbs, there's many more than you'll be using up for ores or skins.
Imo WoW began to die the day they removed these RPG elements from the game. You needed a Leatherworking "set" or Blacksmithing set to reach your full potential..too much has been lost in the name of attracting casuals. Super stoked for release of Classic.
Well they both level pretty well it's up to you honestly mage is more generally useful to ur friends as well tho rouge has nothing to give other people. Mages can give free food and water and portals are super useful.
While leveling, I'm thinking Herbalism and Skinning. I'll vendor the skins as I level, and hold on to certain herbs that are featured in Alchemy power leveling guides. I'll either sell those once the hardcore raiders need to immediately max out Alchemy and are willing to pay exorbitant prices, or use them to quickly max Alch myself if I decide to learn it. I think.
Going to main a hunter in classic. I plan to pick up skinning and mining while leveling. Going to sell everything from skinning and bank everything from mining. Once I hit 60, I’ll drop mining for engineering and level it up with the materials I gathered while leveling. This sound like a decent plan? Any advice would be appreciated.
That sounds like a solid plan tho keeping mining over skinning would be a better money maker after 60 unless you want to be the guy that skins onyxia for those scales every1 needs for their fire cloak for black wing layer
@@Cinomod6066 ahh really? I assumed skinning would be a better money-maker post lvl60, which is why I was going to keep it over mining. Thank you for the advice!
@@MTBHaste Nah mining it will feed your engineering and is much harder to max, you could go from 0-300 skinning in a few hours easy access to skins, mining nodes not so much, mining is the hardest gathering skill to max as engineers will want ore, enchanters want gems as well as blacksmiths who will need them to craft some of the better craftable epics, arcanite reaper comes to mind.

But if you're also into alchemy (as I also plan to do), you can fish out and make your own potions as well. Nightfin is great because it doesn't require you compete with anyone else for resources (nodes) either
Yeah maybe I underrated it a little! and good point below about no competition.
Man I dont even know what class i will play yet
Enchanting and alchemy all the way.
I dont know what to pick.
9:54 we see you, you animal murderer.

While everyones bottlenecking quests and struggling to level I'll be stockpiling fish, leather, and ore.

NPCs
6 days left, the end is nigh
final countdown ...
Druid Master class checking in... run fast AND do your gathering professions.
checkmate non-Druids
Shaman disagrees
@@OpPenguin24 But your Shamanistic ways require you to cast your movement increasing form!
Your oneness with nature is fallible, unlike the mighty Druid.
Night Elf Hunters want a word with you.
@@H41030v3rki110ny0u how can you say you ate one with nature when you cant use lightning fire or water? Lol
WillE where are you from? You don't sound 'Murican, so I can't work out why you're saying erbilism rather than herbilism?
edit - as a side note too, Nat Pagle is "Pay-gal" rather than "Pag-gle", he's named after a Dev from vanilla called Pat Nagle.
UK
Yeah UK i sort of skip the H sometimes
Your Twink model is not wearing the correct shoulders. Talbar Mantle is bis, but you're wearing an off color one
Just checked and did export the model for that, but it may of chosen a different colour that I missed, well spotted!
I always thought it was dumb that you lose all your progress if you drop a profession.
Does out character have serious memory problems or something? Lol
I guess so :(
I miss first aid lol
Would be nice if you could timestamp these types of videos.
