Sorry it's been a while! I got into the Classic beta and have started streaming on Twitch. If you'd like to catch me live, my channel is: www.twitch.tv/madseasonshow . I hope to have part 2 out in about a week if things go as planned.
Love the stream and the youtubes. I only started following WoW streaming and youtube channels about 2 weeks ago (I wonder why...) Anyways, you are by far my favorite content creator. Educational, fun, and monotone, just the way I like it. Can't wait to give you that sweet, sweet twitch subscription.
I can never quite understand why anyone would downvote Mad's videos. He is one of the most genuine and chill TH-camr's I've ever watched. It's actually relaxing to watch his videos all the while still being able to enjoy the knowledge he is throwing at you. You're awesome, bro!
@@madseasonshow Hi dude! I hope you are doing well. I have been watching for a while now, and love your vids! I don’t even play anymore, but I still reminisce about how much I loved this video game when I played it from the winter of 2004 to a bit into WOTLK (wishing we could stay in vanilla forever though). I played vanilla again for a bit on a private server a few years ago, and enjoy people talking about those days in the game. :) I just have a couple of quick questions, if you have a moment? 1) 10:13 Where did you screenshot these weapons? In game itself? Because when I look online, all I can find are the newer/updated versions of items, post nerf etc (i.e. Nightfall was nerfed). 2) Where can we find all the old vanilla items (not to be confused with Classic version of the items, because I’m sure Blizzard changed quite a few items)? I forgot where I’d look them up when I played on a private server. 3) Do you recall if Blizzard changed the design of any epic high warlord weapons? That’s the main reason I asked my last question. I earned all that rank 14 gear/weaponry back in the day, and I have a memory of some of the weapons looking a bit different - particularly the fist weapons being very different looking. I wonder if I’m just misremembering because I’m such an old fart now or what, and I can’t figure it out because all I can find online is the recent Classic item postings of them.
These videos are actually really helpful so far. Btw I love your deadpan delivery of jokes you just suddenly slip in there out of nowhere and then keep on going like you didn't say anything out of the ordinary. It's pretty hilarious.
I know almost everything about this topic, I know what professions I'm gonna pick and what for... Yet, I still clicked to watch this video and to listen to that sweet-sweet monotone!
When I first played WoW back in vanilla, I was a miner/ skinner, but I think in WoW classic Ill be going Herb/Alch for the social aspect as you need to go through an Alchemist to get materials for most good things, that and while leveling I always wanted to be that guy who if you met and joined up and did some stuff, you may walk away with some free potions! Seems a great way to make some new friends!
The power of professions made them exciting to take. And having special labs, forges, etc. gave people a reason to play the content. Wise decisions by the original developers.
Damn. MadSeason actually manages to make people who never played Vanilla WoW feel *nostalgic* about it. Hands down my favourite content creator for this game. Probably for anything, really.
WOW the fact that blizz made an npc, in a dungeon, that you had to mind control to talk to in order to progress your profession is astounding to me, there was so much adventure packed into some of the smallest things in classic wow.
Yeah this is the main reason so many of us oldies are coming back... Wow lost this beautiful touch over the years... There was NOTHING like it at the time and it's the main reason why 15 years later it's still going strong... Classic will be the revival.
@@joeyburg6723 I wouldn't say there was nothing like it. Remember everquest had quests that you could only find out about if you used /say to talk to the npcs. I remember one quest where you had to ask a specific npc about a ring you found.
@@olstar18 Right but my point was in this case... it was a RAID that instead of simply being about killing everyone there... you had to MC someone to teach you a skill you could not learn any other way. The payoff for things like that is HUGE in Vanilla/Classic. The grind is always worth it if you get something awesome and rare at the end of it! I wonder if there will be a premium for items that say "Made by MadSeason" on the bottom LOL!

I loved vanilla gathering professions because of the vast variety of herbs and nodes you could collect all over azeroth, it wasnt as set in stone as: Just collect as much of this ore as you can as you won't need anything else once you level up blacksmithing
I love that classic wow was so interesting and challenging. The fact you need to go into a dungeon, mind control a guy using a separate class, just to chat and get a recipe. Or go into a raid to use a specific profession station to make something cool, is just crazy sick.
If you’re still having trouble figuring which to choose, just go with double gathering: skinning and mining, say. The money you make will help develop a production profession later on if you want to switch.
I've decided that dual gathering is the way to go. Even if all you do is vendor the stuff, it's better than not having a profession at all. Mining generally takes up less bag space (since there's less types of minerals in a zone) and yields the highest value on farmed items. Skinning is a good complement because it doesn't require you to move back and forth on your trackings. I won't go Mining + Skinning on everything, for reasons specific to each class. However, I will go Mining + Skinning on: Hunter Warlock Rogue Herbing + Skinning is the next-best combination. Because you can both Herb and Skin while in Shapeshift form, that makes it fit two classes very well. I also feel Herbing is better on a Mage, who can root things, Herb, and run. Mineral nodes take several mining actions to fully mine, and Frost Nova will have worn off by then. So my Herbing + Skinning classes are: Mage Druid Shaman Mining + Herbing. This combination requires you to go back and forth between tracking. I would mainly go for this combo on things that I plan to do a lot of dungeons with. Almost everyone who goes dual gathering will have Skinning, so this way I avoid bumping into the other players. My Mining + Herbing characters are then: Warrior Priest Paladin Note that it crossed my mind to have the Hunter go Mining + Herbing instead. After all, Hunters cycle trackings anyway. However, Hunters are likely going after beasts for pet food and because they're good to farm, and can track beasts, which makes them ideal candidates for skinning. Once you have plenty of gold, you can always redo your professions later.

Important, if you go engineering, which I absolutely will. Make certain you have on a parachute cloak before you use that Gadgetzan teleport! :) I still remember where the plans are for much of the engineering items. That repair bot was handy and raids certainly loved it. As a Hunter, engineering was amazing. I used to carry around mats needed to make ammo so I could make it on the spot, but remember, stack sizes were smaller.
Mining plus herbalism is great on an alt. You get to farm both while running around. Just make a macro that alternates between the two and bind it to something you can easily spam.
Mad your videos have always been the best. I’ve always watched them thinking how awesome it would be to play classic again. Now I can’t wait for August !!!!
how much more of a RPG classic WoW was compared to the modern abomination. Just by looking at the profession system, it is so much more deep and a lot of cooperation with other classes or professions is required to progress it
Few things: - you can start with other professions than what you want to have max level. Like you can go skinning/herbalism to then drop skinning for alchemy and use stashed herbs from leveling. Or go mining while leveling and then drop it for engineering - use stashed materials to boost it and then just have high engineering for right to use items (like when you are not a hunter and don't have to dump lots of bars into ammo). - if you will have an alt, or even solo - some professions have recipes lock under reputations. Think beforehand which if any of your characters will be farming given rep. Like mage could get reputations that require killing things that can be AoE farmed - for example mages do thorium brotherhood rep, even have mining, farm BRD first room and top of the arena, mine nodes if any spawn, gather turn in items from killed mobs - to then have access to tailoring patterns and even some enchanting ones. - don't always rely on yourself. If you have or indubitably will get friends in Classic - you can join forces when crafting things for profit or personal use. Large scale coop could be between skinner/LW + enchanter when Cenarion Circle recipes become available - blue bracers LW can make will DE into large brilliant shard which will be in quite high demand (so profit depends if and how much larva acid or fire thingies you can source). You go around one of hives (that near alliance camp) and AoE down packs of non-elite Wasps or just kill and skin them one by one - good source of the silithid leather for those bracers. And if you are doing the scepter quest at the same time... profit. - some recipes will be under content progression, but not everything. Beta has fishing schools, sagefish delight recipe and the fish itself (added in 1.9) and likely Rumsey Black Label also drops. There could be some leaks of less important recipes or items.
6:39 Free Action Potion prevents stuns and snares but doesn't break existing ones. You need Living Action Potion for that which comes with an alchemist exalted with ZG.
mining and herbalisim nodes sort of over lap so generally you only need to track one or the other. also you cant learn any of the trades until lvl 10 but you can learn the gathering profs at lvl1 so going with two gathering profs early is a huge advantage.
May have been mentioned by someone else in the comments, but for the level 60 Paladin mount quest you will need 6 Arcanite Bars for the Arcanite Barding. Not at all an easy thing to collect! So if you are planning to play a Paladin this is another consideration to keep in mind when choosing a profession. Having Alchemy Transmutes available on my level 60 Paladin was a huge boon to get the mount, plus it helped fund a lot of other things along the way.
Noooo! I was waiting for tailoring and enchanting the whole video. Why you gotta do me dirty like that, mad? But for real, always love when I see you post a new video!

If you’re still having trouble figuring which to choose, just go with double gathering: skinning and mining, say. The money you make will help develop a production profession later on if you want to switch.
Did you say Thunderfury, Blessed blade of the Windseeker?
I've decided that dual gathering is the way to go. Even if all you do is vendor the stuff, it's better than not having a profession at all. Which dual gathering I get depends on character:
Mining + Skinning is the best combination. Mining generally takes up less bag space (since there's less types of minerals in a zone) and yields the highest value on farmed items. Skinning is a good complement because it doesn't require you to move back and forth on your trackings. I won't go Mining + Skinning on everything, for reasons specific to each class. However, I will go Mining + Skinning on:
Hunter
Warlock
Rogue
Herbing + Skinning is the next-best combination. Because you can both Herb and Skin while in Shapeshift form, that makes it fit two classes very well. I also feel Herbing is better on a Mage, who can root things, Herb, and run. Mineral nodes take several mining actions to fully mine, and Frost Nova will have worn off by then. So my Herbing + Skinning classes are:

Mining + Herbing. This combination requires you to go back and forth between tracking. I would mainly go for this combo on things that I plan to do a lot of dungeons with.
Did anyone figure out how to pick a flower?
I can't get the hang of it.
I was thinking about what professions to pick today. Great Video as always
I was a druid in BC so I was a skinner/leatherworker so I could make my own gear 😄
