Thank you very much Terry for commenting. Indeed, the DJI NEO doesn't stop to amaze me. It flies so stably indoors and outdoors, even with force 4 windy conditions.
Nice flying nice and smooth. I love what people are doing with these. That’s why I bought bought one. I have every quad you can ever want, but still wanted it.
I see your point. I also flew with the Mini, Air 2 (sunk in the river), Air 2S, Mavic 3C, Avata 2, and now the NEO. The NEO is DJI's least expensive, and most versatile quad. I flew it extensively indoors and outdoors and totally recommend it.
I love how DJI Neo flies, It looks like a little brother of Avata :) The recording location is incredible, the river, the waves, the buildings that are nearby are very beautiful in an unparalleled environment. I've never been to Canada, maybe one day.... Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Spain!
This is awesome. I want to get one of these little neos. I think the surfers were happy to have a spectator.! This might become your most popular vid 🙂
You are very welcome, Avi. It was great to meet you earlier, this afternoon. Per our discussion, the newly introduced DJI NEO hasn't stopped to amaze me and totally recommend it.
This footage is dedicated to the courageous Surfers of Montreal's Saint-Lawrence River Habitat'67 Rapids waves. On the same day, I also made flights with the DJI Avata 2 - For Surfers Footage No 4 see th-cam.com/video/fu4ETAZWgFQ/w-d-xo.html, for No 2 see th-cam.com/video/4eOAJOwnR6Y/w-d-xo.html, for No 1 see th-cam.com/video/N8aqCvTb39Y/w-d-xo.html
Wow, after seeing the strong currents, I thought there was no way anyone would go in that, then of course I saw the surfers. It looks so strange, like they were moving forward while the current was moving backwards. I guess rivers in the Northern hemisphere move differently to us southern hemisphere countries, lol. Oh yep, NZ here..
Thank you, Greg. The current becomes very strong because the river narrows very much in this area. The stationary wave is formed by the river's very strong current and abrupt bottom denivelation. I had the opportunity to visit NZ many years ago and keep a very fond memory.
Interesting, everybody has problems over water. What are your comments on that? Why did you not have any issues? is it because the white foam give better contrast to the sensors? I also guess you were in manual mode.
Thank you very much, Samuel. The NEO is not really flying or behaving differently over water than any other modern DJI drone. I flew in Normal and Sport Mode in most of the flight, except when flying Acro at higher altitude. I believe people have problems over water when using their cell phone as a controller. When flying with the RC-N3, RC2, or FPV RC 3 there should not be a problem. Also, I would not recommend using the Motion Controller 3 over water at low altitude.
I used Normal and Sport mode when flying close to the water, and it flies perfectly, as long as height is more than 2.5 m - need to watch the height because not very accurate over water.
Thank you for sharing the video, how true is it that it is not recommended to fly over the sea or water because it lacks proximity sensors or obstacles and could fall?
There is no issue flying over water, as long as keeping the drone more than 3 meters above the water. I flew hundreds of hours above water with all the DJI drones.
@@checo4ever But when flying over water you should always use a Remote Controller. If you are a new flyer stay always high above water, more than 5 meters, best above 10 meters.
@checo4ever The drone has GPS, which is fairly accurate as it can calculate distance and height, so as stated just keep the drone above 5 metres for GPS accuracy error.
So you are saying that the Dji Neo flies over water, ( despite the manual) with no issue. Respectfully, wheres is the watermark for the Neo. Only then....
Tony, the NEO flies extremely precisely indoors and outdoors. It also flies over water, snow, and ice, like all other DJI drones. What makes it even more amazing, is that it flies in many more modes than any other DJI drone, despite being the less expensive.
@@anseasal77 hi there, DJI tells people that you should not fly the NEO over water and snow, as its bottom firing sensors cant work out water or snow correctly and with that cant work out the height. In an event of a failed return to home for example it would then simply plow down into the water/snow, and then you would very likely not get the drone back. But you can fly it over water. My friend has one, and has already posted all kinds of videos of his NEO and flights over bodys of water here in berlin. Cheers!
Actually don't think big issue fly over water or snow thing as long you using controller manual fly, those that complain are people not getting combo version, not using controller. Neo can self fly but there still issues, many use self fly function over water, sensor error cause it fly low and land water ... lol then blame dji for that and call thrash. I mean self fly always need depend on sensors, dji still trying to solve problem, may or may not solve it still not advisable let drone self fly over water. See too many video thrash talk that, think they over expectation for such small light weight cheap drone to have not having any issues. 😅
Since my reply I have watched 3 reviews that confirms just what I feared. No GPS controller, you now have a submarine. The promo ad was a tad misleading as some people's comments or reviews. Just say it. Without a basic controller ( fly combo) you can't fly Neo like it's a Avata. Which means Hover Pro and Max are going to sweep up some money in the new under 249 gram drone competition. Competition is GREAT for all of us. Nite
Thanks. Yes, it is captured by the DJI NEO. This was a flight just after the two flights with the DJI Avata 2 the same day th-cam.com/video/fu4ETAZWgFQ/w-d-xo.html
Thank you, Chris. At low altitude (2 to 3 meters) above water, I flew close to the Surfers, at Sport and Normal modes. At higher altitude, I flew at full-attitude manual, and did many acrobatic loops, rolls and dives.
amazing
You are very welcome!
What a fantastic capture. Piloting the Neo was excellent my friend. Really enjoyed watching this.
Thank you! It's so fun to fly.
Such beautiful views with Neo. Really nicely filmed 👏👍
Thank you, Lu. It was this year's 2nd FPV sortie with the Surfers; the flight was smoother because it was less windy.
Great filming and it also highlights the Neo capabilities in ideal conditions. Great little drone 👍

Thank you very much, Gregory. I love this little tiny drone. It's, amazing!
Nice job. We are very lucky to live in such a beautiful city.
Indeed, Nick. Beautiful and unique! I had the opportunity flying the DJI NEO indoors - without GPS, and it's extremely stable, like the Avata 2.
@@BlueskyverI also tried to fly in the house, but my dogs went nuts, however the 90 seconds that I did manage to fly in doors was perfect.

@@Blueskyver ok, thanks for your feedback.
how you connect neo, with Betaflight?
I did not use Betaflight, and I don't think it's possible to connect it. I used the regular DJI Goggles 3 and FPV Controller 3, from my Avata 2 drone.
Question..... if use Normal mode does Neo safe flying over the water? or only safe on Acro mode only?
I used Normal and Sport mode when flying close to the water, and it flies perfectly, as long as height is more than 2.5 m - need to watch the height because not very accurate over water.

great video, what application did you export it with?
You are very welcome, Thank you. I used iMovie for editing and did not apply color correction to DJI's NEO recorded video.

Merci, Mathieu. Mode Normal et Sport pour filmer les Surfeurs, et Mode Manuel Full-Attitude pour voler en Acro.
