    I was trying to fly my heli w/o even noticing I have to set the gyro values on the AR7300BX. I was getting 1mm movement and it kept spinnning regardless of what I was doing. Luckily I have the trainers on the 450 and I didn't bother taking off!
    I added some gain and holy shit I get like 100x more travel. I will try it tomorrow.

    Hello, I put my helicopter to 30% gyro in rate mode and mechanical setup with servo horn at 90 and a little bit of left rudder like you say to do in the video but my helicopter (blade 300x) kept going left so I kept moving the slider more and more over to the left it is now to the point where it is almost 3/4 of the way to the left end point! and still drifting left but not quite as bad. I used to setup the tail with servo horn at 90 and tail slider at 90 it worked pretty good only blew out on really hard moves. Should I try to setup the rest in heading hold like this or go back to what I was doing with 90 degrees?

    It was never mentioned here but you can run a higher gain value with a smaller arm on your servo. This may work better for you so experiment with the overall length of the arm or the position of the ball on the arm.

    Hello Ron I was setting up rate mode and heading hold on my flybarless gyro and the values i entered were 75% heading hold and -30 rate mode on my spektrum Dx7.
    when I tried to connect my
    Spektrum AR8000 Satallite
    reciever it would bind properly
    but my gyro wouldn't initialize
    properly. I am using a beastx
    gyro too. Why is happening?
    I spent close to a 100 dollars
    on this Satallite receiver and it
    wont initialize my gyro properly? Why?

    Hi Ron. Good vid! I have an align gp780 in a TRex 600 ESP and XG8 radio. The gain set via Aux 2. All gyro and servos senses are correct but, I have to keep correcting the tail in both normal and heading hold mode. The gain is set to 70% in heading hold and 45% in normal.
    What's wrong? The TRex is set up as per instructions. Give Mickey a little cheese from me :)

    Good day Ron. I just got a 360cfx from a friend who got tired fixing. When i spool up it turns to one side. When I counter it once it starts to turn that side. So its like the tail slider is sticking to the last input. Please help me troubleshoot. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video. I got a question. How come, when I turn gyro sens to 70% (for instance), and move the rudder stick, for example, to the left and then back to the center, the tail blades stay in left position (do not return to the center). Same goes for right direction. But when I decrease gyro sens to 30%, the blades return to the center with the rudder stick. Is it normal?

    • @ronlund1953
      @ronlund1953  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is totally normal. Depending on how your transmitter is setup and what brand it is, you are probably going from heading hold mode to rate mode. So maybe 0 - 50% is rate mode and 50 - 100% is heading hold mode. If your gyro has an indicator that shows whether it is in heading hold mode, watch it when you change the rate and see where it switches over. Good luck.

    Hey ron. Love your videos, They have taught me a lot!. I recently bought an align gpro unit. I'm having a lot of problems with the rudder gyro. The cyclic is very stable and will hover hands off but when I try to yaw right it snaps to the left first then right. Very strange . It yaws left correctly. The other problem. Is that when you yaw it keeps rubberbanding back to it's original position like it is locked into that heading. I have reduced gains significanytly but nothing changes. Any thoughts?

    Hello Mr RON ,THIS IS JJ IN MONTGOMERY ALABAMA .I'M GOING BACK OVER YOUR VIDEO'S ON THE GY401 SET UP ,THIS MIGHT BE A DUMB QUESTION ,BUT IN YOUR #2 SET UP OR PART 2 ON THE GY401 GYRO YOU HAVE THE GYRO SITTING ON THE TABLE AND YOUR MOVING THE GYRO TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT WITH YOUR HAND, THE QUESTION I HAVE "SHOULD THE GYRO BE MOUNTED ON THE HELICOPTER FRAME IN THE RELATION TO THE WAY YOU HAVE IT SITTING ON THE TABLE IN YOUR demonstration in part two of the video " ? OR DOES IT MATTER IF IT'S FACING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ,MINE IS MOUNTED WITH THE WIRES COMING OUT OF THE REAR ,THAT'S IF YOU'RE BEHIND THE HELICOPTER ,STANDING BEHIND THE HELICOPTER THE NAME FUTABA IS RIGHT SIDE UP ,OR DOES IT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE? It can be mounted in any orientation as long as the base is parallel to the tailboom. If it is upside down, you might have to reverse the gyro using the microswitch on the gyro.

    I’m currently working on a Roban 800 size EC 135 (4 rotor blades and 7 tail blades). The tail travel on this helicopter is very light. Having a hard time setting my throttle curve due to this issue. I was attempting to fly at a flat throttle curve of 75%, but the torque from the main rotor was too much for the naza in Heading Hold and rate mode. Is it safe to attempt to fly with a 50/60 % throttle curve being that the tail seems to hold there. If not, can you share a pitch and throttle curve that I may want to attempt?

    • @ronlund1953
      @ronlund1953  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pierre,
      I know nothing about the Naza, but let me ask you if you can get anymore pitch out of the tail blades if you raise the gain in both Heading hold and Rate modes.

    • @pierreh9373
      @pierreh9373 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. There is no more travel on these blades. Any further will cause binding

    how do you hook pitch and throttle both to the left stick on the reciever

    • @ronlund1953
      @ronlund1953  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the radio transmitter type, model and brand. All "helicopter" radios mix pitch and throttle in the firmware. So, in the manual for your transmitter will be a section on channel assignments. Typically, channel 6 on the receiver is pitch and channel 1 or 3 is throttle. I would suggest searching for your transmitter model number and the word "setup" here on TH-cam.
      Good luck, Ron

    Any reason why my tail will drift back to center in Heading hold mode?

    • @ronlund1953
      @ronlund1953  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the heading hold gain isn't high enough. As I said before, I know nothing about the Naza, but all heading hold gyros have a way to set the gain in rate mode and heading hold mode. Have you verified the gain? Have you tried setting it to 100% just to see how it reacts (as shown in the video). I would suggest doing that in both heading hold and rate mode. At about 2:06 in the video you will see this. Please tell me what transmitter and which model Naza you are using.

    • @pierreh9373
      @pierreh9373 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rob. So I’m using a flysky FS-i10 radio with cyclic Align DS820M and a Naza H. I did what you told me to do, the only difference is, when I’m in heading hold mode after a few seconds, my Servo drifts back to center. Also, within my transmitter, I have to move the slider negative for rate mode, and positive for Heading hold mode. I actually posted a video so you may know what I’m talking about. Please, if you can, can you view it and get back to Me. Thank you. th-cam.com/video/M10lsA9JXdg/w-d-xo.html
