  • In this tutorial we're discussing how to do PRASARITA PADOTTANASANA / WIDE FOOT FORWARD BEND. We will look at all 4 versions, A, B, C & D, as practiced in the Ashtanga Fundamentals Sequence. For each version we will go over the traditional vinyasa cues and Sanskrit count, break down the correct actions and alignment for injury prevention and talk about some common mistakes.

Dear David and Jelena, this video came in a perfect time for me! I started practicing Ashtanga a few years back but really dedicated myself to the practice in November last year. Thank you for explaining everything in such detail, it really helps me deepen the understanding of the practice. I'm not talking just about this video but everything you post! I love your style of teaching. Unfortunately, Toronto is too far from me, but I hope our paths will cross eventually. Greetings from Croatia!

Congrats on the new studio! It looks lovely!
This sequence has always been one of my favorites, and I've always loved these kinds of forward folds in any type of yoga. The count isn't my main problem here, but I keep mixing up A and D... For some reason it just won't stick! *sigh* I suppose it will come in time

Just a matter of memorizing the sequence. Once you do then it is always the same.
