  • This is a demonstration of how to change the oil and lower unit lube on a 90hp Yamaha four stroke. I've done this service on my boats for close to 20 years on OMC, Mercruiser, and Yamaha motors/outdrives. Fishing with David Pyle..

    Just a FYI,Yamaha suggest replacing the crush washers on the lower unit drain screws per the manual,and there's a bunch of other stuff to check,but that's your call.

    Geat video! What was the lower unit oil type, the brand ear muffs and brand pump? Thanks!

    • @DavidPyle
      @DavidPyle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Search Amazon for Ear Muffs outboard. Any of those will work fine. Search Yamalube gear case lube (SAE 90 80W90). Finally, search Yamalube pump assy (quart size). Go to my website, www.FishingWithDavidPyle.com, hover over Videos and select "How-To". Look at my most recent video at the bottom which is even better for changing the oil, lower unit, fuel filter and water fuel separator.

  • @jayspencer270
    @jayspencer270 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for the informative video David. I’m curious about why you use the ear muffs when these Yamahas have a garden hose fitting?

    • @DavidPyle
      @DavidPyle  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Jay, the garden hose connection should not be used when starting the motor. That connection should only be used to run fresh water through your motor while the motor is OFF. My goal was to heat up the oil and lube so it could drain faster.

    This is kind of a random question. I have the same motor and am trying to replace the internal anodes, but am having trouble locating them. I have the schematics for the motor but they aren't very helpful. Would you happen to know where they are located?

      You'll want to remove your engine cover and the amount of oil is usually on a sticker. If not, consult your owners manual. For my F90 it was approximatley 4 quarts.

    Anyone that watches this for their own f90. Just sell the motor. The water passages in the block will corrode until the cylinders get water leaking into them. The Yamaha, the Mercurys, they both do it
