Luffy is very selfish and as he pointed out he doesn't want to be a hero because then he'd have to share his meat. Consequently, anyone who does share their food is a true hero in Luffy's eyes. Especially those who don't have much to give but do so anyway because then Luffy is motivated to change the situation so that everyone has plenty of food.

My favourite part of Luffy working at the Baratie is when someone angrily asks how many dishes he's broken and Luffy just says sorry I wasn't keeping count.

Oda loves foils and this would be a great foil to the crew at the start - pretty much everyone gets it (Usopp the pirates to come, Zoro the Mihawk meet, Nami the 100mil) and it goes horribly for them. Luffy - who knows to want 'good' things naratively - is what saves them.

So I went to the park and was listening to this video on my walk. Going by the live-action, if I was that one guy on Alvida's crew who tried to shoot Luffy, only for it to bounce back and knock the pistol out of my hand, I would quit, I would change sides immediately, I'd be getting the lifeboat and stuff ready for him. I think when zeff tells luffy he has to work at the restaurant for a year and luffy immediately counters with one week which then evolves into zeff kicking luffy so hard that they both fall through the floor is hilarious
Fun fact about the boy who cried wolf: if you look at the story from the perspective of a wolf its the story of a wolf that tries and fails three times to get at a sheep herd and succeeds the 4th time because the village took a shepherd running him off and there not being as a rwason to not come help the forth time. I will say, as of recent chapters, Buggy does have a legit reson for why he acts the way he does toward Shanks. It only took one thousand chapters plus to get there.

So I went to the park and was listening to this video on my walk. Everything was fine until it got to the “I’M A GOOFY GOOBER, AAAAHHHH” part and then I was losing my shit around all these other people walking. Going by the live-action, if I was that one guy on Alvida's crew who tried to shoot Luffy, only for it to bounce back and knock the pistol out of my hand, I would quit, I would change sides immediately, I'd be getting the lifeboat and stuff ready for him. Like, this Brazilian crackhead is bulletproof and just sent my former boss flying, anything you want Mr. Luffy King of the Pirates, right away. I feel like that should've been more of an occurrence, seeing this Florida boy is taking out people right and left, realize he is fucking bulletproof, and just up and quitting or changing sides immediately.
I love the interpretation of Buggy that he thinks being funny is the epitome of being a pirate- ei, the straw hats annoy him the most not because they are stupid and keep succeeding, but because their stupid antics are funnier than his- which ironically would put him in the position of realizing their true power before anyone else, his murder attempts are his efforts to stop them before they get too powerful for him to stop, on top of overshadowing him.
