All she would have had to do would have been to have a professional seamstress pin or fasten the entire skirt up as high as ditz bride wanted it to be, thereby preserving the beauty of the original gown and not destroying it. Thoughtless brat she was!
She didn't ask Grandma Sue first. How thoughtless and selfish. If someone did that to my wedding dress I would die. Plus she took a beautiful vintage dress and ruined it.
I was sad she cut it. I think the grandma was too. She could have just had it steamed. And wore it the way it was. I don't think she did it for her grandmother 😢
This is actually sad. Grandma didn’t even realize at first that the granddaughter was wearing her wedding dress. She didn’t even recognize her own freaking dress because the granddaughter completely butchered it. Literally ruined her grandmothers wedding dress to wear it for a one time dinner. Not even the actual wedding. She shouldn’t have done that. Hey grandma look at me I’m wearing your wedding dress for tonight’s dinner but don’t worry I made it into my own style because I would’ve never gone out for dinner wearing it in its original design. What a slap in the face.
Yes, surely she at least ran it by her mother. I’m sure she had blessing to do whatever she wanted (to go that hardcore with the alterations/butchering)???
My daughter had thought she always wanted to wear her Grandma's dress. I encouraged her to have the fun of trying on different dresses. Of course, she fell in love with one. She instead wore her Grandma's dress at rehearsal.... but left it exactly as it looked when my mom wore her dress. The best part is that she has two daughters and who knows what they may want. My Mom passed last year ... but lived next door to her great grandma ... so she has great love and memories of her. I would have been shocked if she had grabbed scissors and chopped it up. My mom would have been gracious ... but I'm sure would have been crushed to her soul if her dress had been cut to pieces like this one was.
No no, it’s absolutely 100% fact that that gorgeous dress was destroyed. She looks like a gaudy amalgamation of a cake pop and a six year old pageant girl.
@@WildmoonliteI’m sorry but there’s no way she didn’t ruin it. That dress was in perfect condition and had been worn from the two previous generations. It has meaning, stories, and love intertwined in the fabric. Instead of keeping it nice for her kids to then have, she turned it into a dress that’s way too short and no one else will want to wear
She didn’t give it away. The video says she only let her borrow it. And the grandmother looks like she’s faking a smile after not even recognizing it at first so she doesn’t cry and ruin the wedding.
@@bluescorpion7 Gifting it does not mean you get to ruin it. This is a wedding dress, not a prom dress. And since mom wore it, there is an expectation that the gifting does not include destroying the dress (unless specifically stated otherwise).
It would have been better if she hadn't cut it up and just worn it for her wedding. I'm sure her grandma was heartbroken yet had to act happy. Poor woman, I feel so sorry for her 😢! Much love from Utah!❤
She could've easily altered it to make it an A-line gown instead of butchering her grandma's dress like this. How can it now be passed on to anyone else?
Maybe she’s infertile, and an only child… And was giving the dress a send off as the last time ever to be worn/tradition ended?!?! I would never wish infertility on her, however that scenario makes me feel more comforted about the dress butchering (and poor grandma being alive to witness it).
Well, they might be able to salvage some sort of meaning for the dress if a great-granddaughter is an Olympic skater and can use this chopped off dress as her costume in the final performance for the Gold Medal.
It wasn't that she re-purposed the dress. It's simply that she absolutely destroyed the dress, and it wasn't for the wedding, but simply the rehearsal dinner. Taylor, no honey, just no.
@@mannys9130 Haha, or lingerie. Then the generation after that just might make it a garter to be worn on the leg then thrown at the wedding. What a shame the grandma had to actually see the mutilation of her gorgeous dress. She tried to modernize it, and didn’t even succeed at doing it (or hiring it done) well. Additionally, she didn’t even follow the tradition, as it was not even used for the wedding itself. I can understand choosing to wear it for the rehearsal rather than the wedding day, (if it wasn’t your style) but not altering it more than getting it fitted to her body on top. What a waste!
I wish I still had my mom’s wedding dress! She had a beautiful dress from the mid 70s with a beautiful veil! She lost it when she moved to a different state. I know hers was pretty lucky too as my parents will be celebrating their 50th anniversary next year!!! ❤❤❤
She destroyed it. Grandma didn’t even recognize it, and when she told her what it used to be you can tell her reaction is super fake. She butchered a priceless and irreplaceable family heirloom and made it hideous. I hope grandma takes it and her wedding presents back after and makes her pay to have it restored to the best of her ability. 😡
She didn’t do the dress any justice by cutting it more then in half. It can no longer be passed down as a wedding dress. So that tradition has forever been broken now.
When I was engaged, so many people asked me if was going to wear my Mom's wedding dress that my Aunt had also worn. I always asked them if they had seen us. I'm a full 6 inches taller than my Mom and at her wedding time versus mine, I out weighed her by 50 pounds. 😂. She offered to let me wear her veil, but as my wedding and reception were outdoors, I opted not to wear a veil at all. It gets breezy on top of that hill after all.
In this situation, I would hope she asked for Grandma's blessing before doing this. If the answer was no, you could always get a custom dress made to resemble the original, but these repurposing a generations' old wedding gown that's been carefully preserved for decades seems extremely cringey. I would be devastated.
My niece did the same thing with her mom’s wedding dress. Had it altered for her rehearsal dinner. Her dad, my brother cried when he saw her in the dress!
Very nice to " repurpose" the dress and completely trash it. Grandma probably didn't want to flip out at the dinner and make a scene but had a few words to share with Grandpa in the car on the way home.
She ruined that beautiful dress. What an extremely selfish act on the brides part, her grandmother was heartbroken. Just disgusting and unbelievable how she thought only of herself.
If I were Grandma, I would have broken down in tears!! How could you cut up that beautiful dress?? The tradition was broken when the sizzors made its first cut. Pitiful……

I'm sure Grandma wasn't too happy seeing her dress destroyed. Can't believe her granddaughter could be so selfish as to destroy something that obviously meant a lot to her and her mother.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thought she ruined the dress and felt she disrespected her grandma!
She completely ruined it. That poor grandma.
If she wanted to wear the dress for the rehearsal so bad she should have just worn it instead of ruining it.
All she would have had to do would have been to have a professional seamstress pin or fasten the entire skirt up as high as ditz bride wanted it to be, thereby preserving the beauty of the original gown and not destroying it. Thoughtless brat she was!
Shame on the bride for ruining the dress. Grandma does not look happy and I don't blame her.
This bot voice is one of the most annoying. I fear she made drop one of those too wide smiles on the floor
Shame on the bride's mother for letting her do this and shame on the alterations person who agreed to do this.
