A bride surprised her grandparents by showing up to her rehearsal dinner in her grandmother's wedding dress from 1961. To Taylor Pulfer, 29, her grandmother Sue, 82, and her husband, Dan, 82, are the beacon of the family - their 65 years together being the epitome of a strong marriage. Taylor from Dallas, Texas, said she had no real family heirlooms to incorporate into her big celebration - but then she remembered that her grandmother's dress had played a big part in more than one family wedding. More than two decades after Sue had worn her wedding dress for her marriage to Dan, the couple’s daughter, Angela, wore the dress for her wedding in Wichita, Kansas, in 1984. Taylor decided to keep her incorporation low-key and secret, asking her mom to visit her grandma to check if she still had the dress, which she then found in a garment bag in a relative's attic. Having sourced the dress, Taylor had a vision of what she wanted to accomplish: repurposing it for the rehearsal dinner before her big day. She admitted that she had no idea how to go about such alterations - but fortunately, one of her bridesmaids had seen a viral TikTok video of a wedding dress redesign by a designer, Lovell Faye, who lived just 20 minutes away. On February 23, Taylor and her husband Randall, 29, made their way into Sixty Vines in Uptown, Dallas, where they hosted a rehearsal dinner in the venue's greenhouse. Taylor, wearing the altered dress, made a B-line straight for her grandmother, who did not realize the garment's significance but said that Taylor looked beautiful, "like a ballerina." Then, when Taylor and family members broke the news to Dan and Sue about their granddaughter's dress, the couple were taken aback, later sharing a tear over the gesture's thoughtfulness.

This is actually sad. Grandma didn’t even realize at first that the granddaughter was wearing her wedding dress. She didn’t even recognize her own freaking dress because the granddaughter completely butchered it. Literally ruined her grandmothers wedding dress to wear it for a one time dinner. Not even the actual wedding. She shouldn’t have done that. Hey grandma look at me I’m wearing your wedding dress for tonight’s dinner but don’t worry I made it into my own style because I would’ve never gone out for dinner wearing it in its original design. What a slap in the face.

My daughter had thought she always wanted to wear her Grandma's dress. I encouraged her to have the fun of trying on different dresses. Of course, she fell in love with one. She instead wore her Grandma's dress at rehearsal.... but left it exactly as it looked when my mom wore her dress. The best part is that she has two daughters and who knows what they may want. My Mom passed last year ... but lived next door to her great grandma ... so she has great love and memories of her.
I would have been shocked if she had grabbed scissors and chopped it up. My mom would have been gracious ... but I'm sure would have been crushed to her soul if her dress had been cut to pieces like this one was.

Haha, or lingerie. Then the generation after that just might make it a garter to be worn on the leg then thrown at the wedding.
What a shame the grandma had to actually see the mutilation of her gorgeous dress. She tried to modernize it, and didn’t even succeed at doing it (or hiring it done) well.
Additionally, she didn’t even follow the tradition, as it was not even used for the wedding itself. I can understand choosing to wear it for the rehearsal rather than the wedding day, (if it wasn’t your style) but not altering it more than getting it fitted to her body on top. What a waste!

I feel sorry for grandmother, she was terribly sad. This immature bride RUINED the dress, that was a MAN's lack of opinion.

Have to say not loving the altered version. Not to mention it didn’t really fit in with the venue. Just glad they are all happy.

If I were Grandma, I would have broken down in tears!! How could you cut up that beautiful dress?? The tradition was broken when the sizzors made its first cut. Pitiful……

I'm sure Grandma wasn't too happy seeing her dress destroyed. Can't believe her granddaughter could be so selfish as to destroy something that obviously meant a lot to her and her mother.

I bought my dress for $120 and I was so lucky because it was a one off from the house of Maryvale Mr. John Sydney Australia.😁

it's way too short, she could have kept the skirt at knee length or ankle length to keep it classy.

I’d be so disappointed. Part of the sentimentality of the thing is leaving it as is. Once you change it, it’s not Grandmas anymore. It’s just fabric.

Now destned to be left in a bag then maybe worn as a fairy frock at a fancy dress party.
The dress had been beautifully kept too, now it can never be used as a wedding dress again.

I’m confused about the timeline. Grandma married in 61. The mom’s wedding pic looks like she got married in the 70s.
