@@RalphMayhewPhotography Absolutely. I’d love to bag a shot of the whole thing from the moon one day… Imagine sticking that on your wall with your own name on it!
I'm gonna try this! I haven't done a night trail since my SLR days. Question though, and excuse my ignorance ... Why do the repeated "presses" and not Night Lapse, Photo with Duration set to an hour (or three or no limit), then mesh them images together in post? Would that even work?
Thanks so much for this video. Amazing video. Learned a lot from it. Do you this the GoPro remote would be better in this scenario when capared to the phone app?
A couple of questions please. 1: How can you have a max iso of 800, with a min iso of 1600? I can't see how you can have a min Iso that is higher than what you've set for the max iso, 2: Do you use, or have heard of, the Star Stax programme? 3: How about these settings for 10 black? Night Lapse, Interval: 60 sec, Shutter: 30 sec, Iso min: 800, Iso max: 1600, Sharpness; High, WB: 5500k, Output; Raw, Colour: Vibrant. Would these settings give results?
Ralph, what a creative use of a GoPro. The final photograph has an old school Polaroid art project feel to it. I love it. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels.
I just looked it up. I got it off Catch.com. Under: 3 in 1 Multi USB Charger Charging Cable Cord For iPhone USB TYPE C Android Micro-Red I’ve no idea who makes it though 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah I noticed that too so I got a remote control for my GoPro 10 and can’t wait to try it out let you know if it works thanks for sharing big like from me from 🇮🇪🤝
Your dedication is super commendable Mate! You are "DA MAN"! Wonderful stuff! Thanks for sharing your awesomeness! Quick question: would the GoPro not do that in "linier" mode to take the distortion out?
The main issue is you end up with a time-lapse and not stills you can layer. You also don’t get enough exposure and shutter control to capture the trails.
Thanks for uploading. I had the opportunity to view a rocket launch in 2018. Memorable experience. I posted a pretty fun montage of the journey to my page.
Thanks for the comment. That’s why you do that. The trails are fine. The still elements are over exposed but I wanted to be true to what comes out of camera rather than changing up the exposure in post to create a great photos but not offer something realistic.
Well you can’t step into new areas of understanding until you push the bounds of your current ones. I don’t fancy another hour of mindlessly pressing buttons in the cold though lol
Have you taken a light trail before? What’s the longest amount of time you’d commit to it?
After seeing this and your Milky Way video I would have thought you had millions of subscribers. Your videos are incredible and I hope you keep it up!
Oh wow. Thanks so much. The millions are yet to come but I super appreciate yours and your words. Thank you!!
You can use Timelapse and use settings to have it take photos instead of video.
You can but you won't get the results you want as you can't control the shutter speed when you do that.
You set the interval to 30 and shutter to 30 in Timelapse photo just not in raw
Pretty bloody cool, Ralph. We’re on a ball, floating through space. Amazing!
Thanks heaps Pete. It’s so nuts isn’t it?!

Great to hear. The night lapse doesn’t open the shutter far as long as you need.

Thanks heaps. Actually it probably would 👍

Yeah those seatings sound good. Give it a try and adjust accordingly is the way to go.

Thanks heaps mate. I’ve since learnt there’s a lab for creative stuff like this. Defiantly checking that out.
Thanks for video sir 🙏 👍🏻
My pleasure.
What post-processing/app did you do to turn all the individual pics into one cool one showing the trails?
Lightroom, then photoshop then Final Cut pro, from memory.
Nice one. Do you remember who makes that red usb c cord? Love it.
I just looked it up. I got it off Catch.com. Under: 3 in 1 Multi USB Charger Charging Cable Cord For iPhone USB TYPE C Android Micro-Red I’ve no idea who makes it though 🤷🏼♂️
@@RalphMayhewPhotography Awesome thanks. I see one by Anker.
@@jordanrubinfilm great.
Out of curiosity, couldn’t you do the same with GoPro labs in a more easy way?
Fascinating!! This is the first I’ve ever heard of GP labs but I just took a look and it seems awesome. Thanks heaps mate 👍

Nice work. Love to see how you go. 👊
Nice one Ralph, great result , really liked the cropped abstract version! Cheers:)
Thanks so much Peter. Always appreciate your comments mate. Cheers.
@@RalphMayhewPhotography very welcome😊
It doesnt work with the isomax/min, when I change to 3200 the max changes as well! Any tips?
Hmmm not sure what’s happening for you. You just want the highest iso you can get.
Your dedication is super commendable Mate! You are "DA MAN"! Wonderful stuff! Thanks for sharing your awesomeness! Quick question: would the GoPro not do that in "linier" mode to take the distortion out?
Thanks so much Jon. Unfortunately when you shoot RAW you can only shoot on their ‘wide’ option :(
Works with gopro 9?
Not sure. You’ll have to try and let me know.
A 30 sec shutter would be long enough to get some pretty nice street traffic light-trails. Similar but different.
Yep for sure.
Nice work brother
Thanks mate.
What about try the time lapse camera, in this case u can just leave the camera for whole night
The main issue is you end up with a time-lapse and not stills you can layer. You also don’t get enough exposure and shutter control to capture the trails.
Meke 23mpiksel pictures and make video from it?
I’m doing a long exposure one shortly.
Can’t you just take it as Timelapse photo then import them into photoshop
Thanks for uploading. I had the opportunity to view a rocket launch in 2018. Memorable experience. I posted a pretty fun montage of the journey to my page.
Thanks mate. I appreciate it.
Use the Night Lapse Photo setting and forget the app. ??????? Why would you do this time consuming tactic?
Have you tried it? Coz it doesn’t work.
1:21 Min iso 1600 Max iso 800 Negates the Max. This shows your not on top of your game
Plus the star trails are over exposed
Thanks for the comment. That’s why you do that. The trails are fine. The still elements are over exposed but I wanted to be true to what comes out of camera rather than changing up the exposure in post to create a great photos but not offer something realistic.
Plz never do this again lol 😆 not good bro 😅
