    Includes pro setup, 5th string spike installation, and free domestic shipping! - The pot assembly of the Sierra, the violin grade maple 3 ply rim, the 06 tone ring, the one piece zinc flange, the notched tension hoop, the Deering tail piece and armrest are exactly the same as entire Deering line all the way up to their more expensive banjos. The tone is crisp, the sustain is musical, and the feel and playability are second to none. Truly a lifetime instrument.

    Mahogany, every time! I've got a maple Sierra archtop, but that mahogany sure sounds great

    They both have THAT sound. I give the edge to the Mahogany.

    In the Spanish Sierra Nevada, the is a mahogany Sierra, I´ve had it eight years or so, and it´s a source of great joy.
    This video was a great opportunity to compare it with the Maple, I think both sound just great, I prefer the mahogany by a whisper. (Of course!).

    They both sound great, but I like the sound of the maple better. It's got a little more honk to it. In my opinion you really can't go wrong with either one!

    I'm a guitar player. I've been after "tone" for over 50 years playing. I've come to a conclusion years ago. The tone you hear one day on the same instrument and player may be different yet another day especially with regards to recordings. If the sound you hear on one particular day's recording is the one that got famous, that's might be your holy grail tone, when in reality anything in the environment or processing might have been different at another moment and that would be your holy grail. Point is, as long as it cuts through, the rest is in technique and other factors that can usually be altered by the player such as where on the body you work, the pick gauges, your fingers, your nails, your attack. That's why as we all know, a player will sound mostly the same through the years and on any guitar..err banjo. My opinion. I just today picked up a mahogany neck sierra. i love maple, I love mahogany, I loved the price so much that I didn't give a second of though to which it was. I prefer warm tones hence mahogany but I'll get what I want just changing position or pick or whatever. But I'll never sound like my idols because I ain't them nor that good, even on their models.

    I can't decide, both sound great. Glad I have a few months to make my mind up before I buy one. I just need to know the names of the 2nd and 3rd song

    Deering have their own individual sound. Not my first choice tone wise but they make nice quality banjo's.

      Whovisions yes they do, I am the opposite of you I like their sound over the tinny thin sounding Mastertones, to my ear the Deerings are more musical. My wife, who is not a banjo fan at all, can tell when I am playing something other than my Deering. When I come down from my music room she will say, that was not your main banjo was it, that was not as pretty sounding. So some like vanilla and some chocolate. Everyones taste is different. I love all banjos, just prefer some over others.

      Pretty sounding but to get that real paint peeling dry quality there's nothing like a Huber/stelling

    • @whovisionsCGI
      @whovisionsCGI 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@midnighttoker8663 Agreed. Huber have captured as near as possible the vintage pre war tone and Stelling well, you just can't go wrong with them. Beautiful banjo and beautiful tone. 👍

    The mohogany has a lot of pop for a mahogany. That's what I'm trying to get away from. Could be corrected though with a heavier and higher bridge.
