    This is not a review or how-to guide but rather just something I wanted to share. Hope it will satisfy some curiosity about this throttle. Thanks for watching! 😀
    It has come to my attention that some of you are interested in a detailed tear down of a F15 Throttle grip. If there is enough interest, I would consider ordering one and make a video about it. Please leave a comment below and/or give this pinned comment a like 👍to let me know.

      You know, looking at that frame around the throttle axis
      I wonder how hard it would be to attach 2 actuators and make an automated throttle unit

    • @crashmetwice
      @crashmetwice  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Nightdare Sure, I think that could be done. One would need to increase or change the enclosure to fit in the motors and drivers for that mod. My knowledge is mostly limited to Heli Flight controls, I would have to get more involved with fighter jets like the F18 which I believe has ATC to give you a more informed answer. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers

      would love to see the F-15 or 15EX grips taken apart, as well as the F-16EX control stick to see how much room there is for aftermarket "upgrades"
      ie the F-16 and EX joystick grip, the slew hat on the EX "extension" is pretty meh, and upgrading it to something like from Delta Sim that they did with the TM Warthog would be amazing. The same applies to the F-15's slew hat.

    To be honest, this is more useful than most reviews.
    It drives me insane how rare and full teardown is when people are offering reviews.
    For $$$ you really need to see what things look like under the hood.
    Great work! Hope to see more videos like this one.

      Thanks for your very nice comment! Yes, I agree that for the price you want to know what you are getting. I will continue tear downs whenever I can. I like doing them as it is also for me interesting what's "under the hood". Thanks again for watching and commenting! Cheers

    I have had an Orion 2 for close to a year with zero issues and am very happy with my purchase. Nice to get a look under the hood.

    Great vid. Winwing does not provide a dissemble manual on their website so it nice to see someone figured it all out on their own & sharing it to the other. Thank you for the vid, if for some reason I have to replace a part on the base then I can revisit your video

    • @crashmetwice
      @crashmetwice  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, Winwing doesn't provide any good manuals throughout all of their products. Something they could really improve on in my opinion. Glad you find my tear-apart useful. Thanks for your comment! Cheers

    I've been very curious to see the inside of some of the WW stuff, thanks for doing, and sharing this! 5 mins in and I'm hearing about hot glue and zip ties.. I'll stick with VKB 😅. Buy once cry once!

    • @crashmetwice
      @crashmetwice  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I totally agree that there are higher quality products out there such as VKB or Virpil. However, I couldn't find a Viper throttle combo from either of them. The TM is twice the price and budget was a consideration for me as I am mostly flying helis and only occasionally play ED or fly the Viper (still learning). For the price I found it quite acceptable. The hot glue was only there to keep the nuts from falling out in assembly or keep the connectors from disconnecting. Anyway, thank you for your comment and watching my video! Cheers

    • @havinganap
      @havinganap 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@crashmetwice Fair point. I didn't realise the TM product was so expensive by comparison. In the EU, there is not really much difference between them.

    • @crashmetwice
      @crashmetwice  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@havinganap I paid 260 bucks incl. sh for the combo here. About half of the TM. Thanks for the reply! Cheers

    locknuts don't need hotglue
    It's simply there to hinder consumer serviceability

    Would you consider doing a teardown of the F-15E handle that goes on this throttle?

    • @crashmetwice
      @crashmetwice  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I only owe the F-16EX Viper grip for this throttle. If I should come across a F-15E grip, I most certainly will do that. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers

    I've disassembled mine to regrease the clutches with Nyogel, and to modify the slider friction. One more thing I wanted to do was to remove the joystick from the F15 handle, and grease the pivots to reduce stiction. I was able to do it on the joystick grip ministick with good effect. However, I was not able to remove the internals. Perhaps they're glued in, but I didn't want to brute force it. Do you have any idea on how to access the throttle grip ministick?

    • @crashmetwice
      @crashmetwice  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really as I never had the F15 grip on hand. I only have dealt with the Viper grip. I did notice on the Viper grip that the pcb for it was glued in with hot glue and then clamped between the grip halves. You may need to disassemble the entire grip to see what's going on in there. Sorry if I can't be of more help. Thanks for your comment and watching my video! Cheers

    • @algroyp3r
      @algroyp3r 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@crashmetwice Thanks. On the F15 grip, only one side wall comes off, the rest is solid. So it would be difficult to pry the board out, not knowing for sure if it's safe to use brute force...

    • @crashmetwice
      @crashmetwice  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@algroyp3r I would never use brute force on any of these devices as it most guaranteed brake something. There must be a way to get to it as they had to assemble it at one point and sure want the ability to repair it if needed. Hit on over to my Discord server and post some detailed pictures in the General Chat to help me to understand what's going on. There also maid be someone who has that grip and is able to help. You may also try the DCS forum which is a fantastic source for such things. Cheers
