Superb video - thank you. I'm doing the full there this September and looking forward to it.
1 quick question - do you have any tips on trying to replicate the heat? I live in NW England and we aren't blessed with back to back sunshine. I do my turbo with heaters on, run with extra layers etc to try and gauge how much I'll sweat and what not but I'm just a bit fearful I cannot replicate a red hot day! Any tips would be greatly appreciated... or maybe an idea for your next video? 😉
Glad you found it useful - I actually have a video on how to prep and race in the heat - link below - and please be sure to tell your friends/club mates about the channel (loads of more dynamite content on it) as helps my little TH-camr notions a lot!

I think it's not allowed to pull the wetsuit off more than to waist height until you have your transition bag.
Not heard of that rule before / will do some digging on it
what's the atmosphere like at IM Italy?
Also, I'm from the UK, do you recommend renting a bike in Italy or bringing it across on the flight?
Atmosphere is class and I would always aim on transporting your own bike to a race as you want to be on a steed you are comfortable on, done the long training miles on
thanks very much. I am looking to sign up for my first ironman next year in 2024. I am relatively fit, I have done a sprint and an Olympic distance this season but am obviously well off IM fitness. I'd say I can comfortably swim for around 45 minutes, cycle 2/3 hours and run for 1/ 1 and a half hours. The main options I am considering at the moment are IM Wales (in UK so easier for me, support looks epic, but extremely hilly run and cycle so may be tough for my first IM) and also IM Italy (flatter cycle and run, more likely to be decent weather but in a different country so will need to transport bike, book accommodations etc) do you have any advice for this?
Also, I have another questions regarding training blocks. Most training plans I have seen start full training 4/6 months out from race day (having built base miles before). Most start relatively easy i.e. 1km swims, 5/6km runs etc, if my fitness is already beyond this level is it wise to train more miles from earlier on? Or is this the advice so that you don't burn out by race day and even if you feel able to do more miles stick to the plans?
Thanks so much for your video and your help.

Hi max - happy to answer but best switch to email info@smartendurancesolutions.com as YT reply space pretty clunky to write decent reply
will do! @@CoachSteveMoody
Τhank you
Very welcome and best of luck (oh and please subscribe to the channel as helps me provide more future content 🙏)
Hi Steve, are there bike catchers at T2 or do you rack yourself?
Look at you getting notions watching my US race reviews - no bike catchers for us poor European types (only Kalmar & VG have catchers in EU races as far as I know) - you have to rack your own
Haha! Yeah there were bike catchers at IM Copenhagen last year so wondered...are you allowed to just rack wherever you want or do you have to find the same spot from T1?
@@jonwylie2279 numbered racking - you will be assigned number when you check in/register
Thanks for the great video! I may have missed it but can we use a personal bag in the middle of the bike part?
Yes you can
@@CoachSteveMoody Is it at the aid station at 30/100k ?
@@jeremiecohen4254 will need to check that in the final version of the athlete guide as they can change that in the last few weeks
@@CoachSteveMoody I've just checked the athlete guide and indeed it's now clear - the personal needs bag for Bike (orange) will be placed ait aid station 2 (88k and 159k)
@jeremiecohen4254 great thank you for clarifying this important point - have a great race and be sure to let us know how you get on!
Any insight into the water clarity? Choppiness? Current?
Water clarity good and wasn’t choppy on my race day but as you can imagine that is completely influenced by weather pattern on the day
@@CoachSteveMoody thanks coach. Loved the video. What about a current? Are you swimming into one at any point?
@@MMichiganSalveRegina No major current to be writing home about
