Fabulous review. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Great little teardrop that punches above its weight.🥊 Wholeheartedly agree that the after sales support is amazing✔️
This is such a helpful review, thanks for sharing your knowledge! Seriously considering a Tucana at the moment and have lost to think about. Your videos are really helpful. Enjoy your travels!
Congratulations on the monthiversary of Tia! I still can’t get over how much travel you’ve done in her since you’ve had her. You’re well qualified as a semi-pro now 😂
Haha cheers! I probably should work out how many kms we have done in a year and a bit. It would be a decent number though. The "pro" bit comes in a couple of years when we go full-time and do the lap. That's the plan, anyway!
Yet again, another great video. Couldn’t agree more about the after sales service. I rang Song about getting an extra battery installed and was able to bring it in that day. On the last trip, I had a problem with the solar controller. Rang Song, and was able to get it fixed straight away.
Great honest review & we agree with your pros & cons. We purchased ours second hand & have found Song so helpful with any questions or advice when needed, such great after sales service, couldn’t ask for more. I love the window between kitchen & main area, such great airflow & a view & the ability to past things through is pretty handy as well. We researched & tried a few teardrops & the floor space beside the bed, the kitchen hatch window & overall quality were what sold us. We have enjoyed tents & swags & camper trailer camping & wanted something easier that still felt like camping. Tried & tested a small motor home & didn’t want to tow anything big; didn’t like either of those options for lots of reasons. The Toucana really is ideal for our wants & needs, we love ours. Edit we don’t use the table & chairs option, we find a couple of trays work well for most things like playing cards or whatever. We ended up with an exped mattress & a memory foam mattress underneath & that works for us.
Thanks you for your honest reviews. I finally got to see Tucana in person today at a caravan show. Impressed with finish and that Aust made products are fitted. One question I didn't ask at the show, the durability of the suspension and wheel bearings. Have you travelled on corrugations for any length of time? Is yes how did the van cope and how was the cabinetry, still screwed together? I look forward to more of your travels.
Yep. We’ve given ours a bit of a hiding! Plenty of corrugated dirt roads. It’s held together well. We had one screw come loose in the kitchen, but that was an easy fix. Everything that that’s gone wrong I have included in the 1 year video, so we’re pretty happy all told. 😎
Phillip, I saw one on a flat bed in WA, The suspension was detatched due to structural failure of the welded connections - The engineer in me was impressed in not a good way regarding the design and manufacturing adequacy for Australian road conditions. This is really sad because the units look beautifull. The failure area is difficult to properly inspect as the hot dip galvanising and the bidy being in place makes it virtually impossible to fully assess the quality of assembly of the frame
really interesting review. Good point about the gap between the wall and the bed; this is almost essential for folk like me if I were to try and put shoes on for example. Don’t know another teardrop with this feature.
We noticed it only has one door on one side. Our Lumberjack Sheoak has two doors and we don't know how we would be without each of us getting in and out our own side. I love this one, but don't know if I would trade having two doors.
❤ the Tent off the Tear Drop Entrance Door 🚪 However l would like 2 see the same thing provided where u Cook 🍳. Been looking at these Fabulous little Tear Drops 4 Aporox 2 years . Xcellent 🇦🇺 😅
Yeah, the kitchen area is something we keep experimenting with. Haven’t quite got the ideal solution yet. At the moment, if it’s wet that’s a good excuse to go to the pub for dinner 😀
This is a great review and I love the inside feature to use inside sitting with table and backrests etc. This is my dream. The only thing I wonder is how you manage with only one door at night when one needs to get out that is not on the door side. We have a teardrop with two doors so we can get in and out on our own side. What about shower and toilet if you are off road? Great to find your videos.
Thanks Suzanne! Yeah, the single door means it's easy for one to get out and less easy for the other. I heard a rumour that they are bringing in a 2 door design, though. Haven't seen it yet but that should be interesting. As for the loo, got another video about that :) th-cam.com/video/vWrrY9DLAVg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0K7wUulA3mQYPthf
thank you for your response re the mattress, i have another question. With the 1600 inverter can you plug in a toaster or electric kettle? I know i can use the gas but I especially like plain old toast in the morning?
thanks for the videos - i get my Tucana in a month. With the Clark Mattresses - were you able to pick your own cover colour or provide material to them. Also are you able to provide me with dimensions of the seats so i can get them done before i get the camper.
This one just came off the shelf, so we didn’t choose the colour or get a custom size. As for the measurements, I’m suspicious that they have changed a bit since we got ours. Contact Song - he’ll give you the right measurements for your one.
Just saw a nice 2022 built unit on a flatbed Truck. These are my thoughts - Suspension was not adequatly welded to the mainframe and tore out - dry pooled welds - poor manufacturing and design hidden by beautifull hot dip galvanising - dangerous units that thar ought not be on the roads - Unfortunatly yourtube has no faculity for me to attach pictures with this comment
@@TiaTucana to me it looked like poor manufacturing and design that is the cause. - there was no obvious damage (bent rims / flat tyres etc that I could see) - I am guessing that some ones holliday was cut short with this - the unit appeared in really nice condition (apart from the suspension coming detached), with no obvious signs of operational abuse. - It is likely that a competent engineering assessment of the vehicle would have similar obsersations.

It sure does. And they sure do! :)

Thanks for the kind words. We love ours, it's a great little camper!

I think that’s probably more important than all the other things combined. 👍

I didn't mention the window between the bed and kitchen - but you're right - love that too! Good call!

I haven't seen one either. Even if you don't ever convert the bed to a table, having this bit is a big win for me too!

Thanks for such a great video, I’ve researched almost every option in Australia and the tucana keeps standing out as the best option.
Cheers! It's hard to go past, to be honest.
Maybe this for your stone chips - Moroday 400 x 500 x 12mm Adhesive Rubber Mat - Bunnings.
Ah. Will have to check that out. Ta!

Nah - it's not designed for that sort of power requirement. I actually made a video about that! th-cam.com/video/H-cNDG2YDIA/w-d-xo.html

Yep - that's exactly what I expect :)

How did it end up there? What happened that tore the suspension out?
