Like in real life bro, these dudes pay no attention and have the brain of a 5yo what did you expect from them? they're cool but stupid on many things like politics or analysis.
God this episode is gorgeous. Also it's not the first hint of Cinta and Vel, one of the crew tells Cassian in an earlier episode that Cinta is "already sharing a blanket" and the camera shifts to her coming out of Vel's tent while Vel has a blanket over her shoulders. I think Vel also had a kind of "stop giving her eyes" interaction with Cassian too if I recall correctly.
A couple of interactions; first, when Cassian was kind of flirting with Cinta, Vel told him “you can start dressing yourself, Clem” (up to that point Cinta was dressing his wounds), and the second interaction I remember was when they were passing around a flask and Cassian gave it to Cinta and smiled, and Vel got in between the two of them, took the flask away from her and told Cassian to keep his focus on the mission.
Giving him the manifesto is a fantastic touch to close a story loop, making sure to subtly explain how Cassian becomes such a committed/radical rebel! Love the storytelling of this whole show so far!
it would make more sense that the events he lived through make him think differently; and he never actually reads the manifesto, but it's existence is a reminder
The eye event is probably one of the most beautiful special effects I have ever seen in my life. Great heist episode and this is becoming one of my favorite Star Wars stories ever, also can we talk about the quick draw???? Cause damn that was fast!!!
My heart was pounding out of my chest throughout the last 15 minutes of this episode! I was just repeating “come on, come on, come on” on and of throughout the heist. The writing and directing was honestly some of the best I have ever seen not just in Star Wars but in any spy thriller tv series. And even after all of this Cassian still has no hesitation to put down an enemy, even if they were once an ally. I’m so happy that they portray all these characters as being completely grey. With the exception of Nemik.😢 This show deserves as big of an audience as The Mandalorian.
That wasn’t the first hint that Cinta and Vel were together; in the previous episode Skeen told Cassian that Cinta already shares a blanket with someone, and right after, Cinta and Vel came out of a tent together (Vel with a blanket wrapped around her).
Actually we don't know. Skeen was begging Vel to take Nemik to the Dr. If he was being genuine then it seems odd he would turn on them.. and he was testing Cassian. Or he was acting and just wanted to get him and Cassian alone.
@@jeremycovelli I think he was acting. He needed the pit stop to steal the money. If they didn't stop they'd have taken the money straight to the drop off.
@@GrimGearheart I think you’re spot on there. Even looking back at everything else he has done it becomes more obvious he was a snake. In earlier episodes, when everyone is focusing on the mission, he’s only obsessed with Andor’s motive, as he wants to know if he’s someone who is also out just to take the credits. His tattoos show that he’s been to at least one prison in his life. He identifies and knows the exact value of the Kyber crystal the moment he sees it, so clearly has some knowledge moving high value goods. In this episode he provides “covering fire” just long enough to get Taramin(?) to run out, but then leaves him to fend for himself.
This is Star Wars done right. The use of practical effects and real sets makes this show so much more tactile. They used special effects perfectly. I almost wish I could have seen it on the big screen. Hats off to the whole Andor team!
This was the perfect episode for me. The tension, pace, the glorious visuals... and the DETAIL. Everything has a purpose and is not throwaway. How they bring in so much new, and make it so believable and real, just stuns me. The Dhanis were a great example. Fleshed out just enough to give real life to the extremely tense relationship with the local Imperials -- and that's a terrific portrait of the general attitude of the entire Empire. And how they squeezed even more character development *during* the action -- when things go wrong, Nemik steps up rather than shrinks away, and literally saves the whole mission, right to his last breaths. His death was so meaningful. If all this show does is introduce characters and make us care so much about them, then I am pretty much completely satisfied. That it's exceeding that with top notch storytelling and believable worldbuilding, and STUNNING visuals, just blows my mind.
Loved this episode! This show has made the Empire frightening again while at the same time showing us a personal side that we haven’t seen before on screen.
Luthen promised Andor (or as Luthen pronounces it "Ander") his cut from the heist would be about 200,000 credits, so if Ander takes his share and pays the quad armed doctor 30,000 for the ship in the barn, he "walks away" with about 170,000 Imperial creds.
Vel and Cinta were hinted at before. Skeen said that Cinta "was sharing a blanket" and the camera showed the two of them coming out of the shelter. She also got jealous of Cinta helping Cassian into his outfit and stepped between them during the flask sharing spot. Because ultimately she doesn't trust Cassian, while Cinta is trying to be helpful but Cassian is a bit of a "lover" based on Marwa's commentary.
Imo this was definitely not a test from Skeen, he provided lazy cover for Tarramyn and let him get shot and he's shown zero care about Nemik and I think he purposefully diverts the group to the Doctor so he can make a play at taking the money with Cassian. This was a fantastic episode, really looking forward to how they're gonna mesh Saw and if we see Bix and if we ever see Cassian see his sister again.
Also, a test like that could only end up with Cassian accepting or shooting him on the spot, because Vel would NOT believe him if he claims Skeen tried to bail on her.
According to military customs, a lower ranking soldier walks on the left side of a senior officer. This courtesy developed when swords were still used on the battle field. The lower ranked soldier on the "left" protected the senior officers left side. Therefore, the term leftenant developed.
Not really. It's a French word, lieu is place and tenant which roughly means holder. A lieutenant is someone who has authority delegated to them and acts in place of their superiors. The British pronunciation just reflects the Old French form lieu: luef.
Speaking of Cassian taking his cut and disappearing reminds me very much of Han and Luke's chat right before the Battle of Yavin. "So, you got your your reward and you're just leaving, then?" "That's right, yeah. I got some old debts I gotta pay off with this stuff." Which, Cassian kind of does. There are several people he owes money to back on Ferrix. And the manifesto could be the equivalent of Luke's line "You know what's about to happen, what they're up against." The biggest difference being, Luke and the Rebels know precisely what they need to do to stop the Empire's ultimate weapon. They have a powerful sense of hope that has been built upon the efforts of everyone who came before, including Cassian. Nemik's manifesto could be the start of that spark for Cassian. Especially since, in a way, Cassian could potentially come to feel partially responsible for Nemik's death (even though he really isn't). This show is just delicious.
my single favorite hour of star wars ever, when Nemik screams Climb thats the first genuine chills I've gotten since The last jedi(yes i know im stupid i have horrible taste yada yada)
2) I LOVED how they handled the situation with Skeen's betrayal. It tells SO MUCH about Cassian's character: So yes, he only cares about himself and he won't do anything for free, BUT he does have some ethical limits. VERY smart writting. PS: Best episode so far. So much tension! Thank you, guys!
Usually you guys are so on point, surprised yous missed both that the women "shared a blanket" and that yes they had killed someone already when storming into the vault. Anyway, great reaction as always!
Andor has quickly become my favorite Star Wars thing in a long time. My heart was beating so fast this whole episode, and I don't know how they do it but this show just keeps getting better with each ep!
Does anyone else feel like this show has made the LAZERBOLTS so much scarier? Theres like additional sparks or something, or a more aggressively blurred edge. The blaster bolts just seem SO MENACING in that shootout in the basement.
I can't help but think that at the end of Nemik's manifesto, he'll have written, "Rebellions are built on hope." which would be a great way to tie in Cassian's journey into Rogue One.
Highly recommend to all to go back and re-watch with closed captioning on. You'll get to see the Aldahni dialogue (especially between the tribal elder and the lieutenant) to be most interesting. Bravo, to the writers for taking that extra-step of detail !!
I am so elated I never thought I'd have a newer Star wars character enter my top 20 even maybe top 10. Cassian Andor is the man. Way to go to everybody involved in this series. Welcome back Star wars
Listen, I'm not saying everything should be put in one person's hands but I'd love to see Tony Gilroy write a Rogue Squadron movie and have Susanna White direct it. What an incredible episode and series so far.
That's also the way it was for a lot of the missions that the Rebels crew went on. For the most part because it was a "kid's" show, we didn't necessarily think horrible things were gonna happen. But because we hadn't seen any of those characters later in the canon, any of them could die at any point, which we did kinda see in season 4 with a particular character.
We know Cassian dies. What this show is about is how does a guy only in it for himself become the kind of guy who can die on that beach happy that he did his part for the rebellion

There are physical Imperial credit coins that have been used in the movies and shows. The gold chips in the vault look like the Legends credit chip design, which are digital cards holding value.
this episode helped me realize - we're following mon mothma partially to see how the diplomatic, pacifist approach from her republic days does not work with the empire and that it takes skaarsgard's tactics to win this
Excluding the flashback, these first 6 episodes have taken place over about a week, so I don't think it's unlikely we'll get a time jump. And cassians cut was 200k, but he said he'd give the doctor 30k for a ship. Luthen told him the Khyber crystal shouldn't be sold for less than 50k, but he gave that back. 170k is still a ton for him though because he was planning to sell the starpath unit for only 40k and go into hiding
Great episode! Great heist! One theory I have is that the money from this heist will be the Alliance's start up capital. We've been hearing about a "foundation" that Mon Mothma has created as well as her talking about the Ghorman. As seen in other media (Rebels and books I think), it was the Ghorman Massacre that led to Mon Mothma publicly denouncing Palpatine and becoming the Rebel Alliance's leader. She'll definitely end up using this money to support the rebellion's efforts in some significant capacity
We already knew Vel and Centa were a couple from two episodes ago. Skeen tells Cassian that Vel is already sharing a blanket if he was wondering, and we see Vel and Centa coming out of a hut together. Also, Vel gets super jelly when Cassian is having Centa help him with his uniform and Vel tells Cassian he can dress himself. Wonderful writing, subtle, not hitting you over the head. This show is so good. As for Cassian, his cut was 250,000 credits, with the kyber crystal as a show of good faith being worth 30-50,000 credits (and a ship costs ~ 15,000, so let that all weigh in on the value of 250k in credits!).
A great episode. As for those who poo poo the story. It’s the journey not the destination. Backstories matter. How did Cassian Andor end up where he ended up? How did he become a rebel and take on that cause? That’s a story in itself.
I loved this episode so much. Every actor killed it, every line was great. It was so tense!i also really enjoy how this series frames the empire and its relation to native peoples. Both the Aldhani and the children of Kenari are clearly representative of first nations and the way the Empire exploits and threatens them is so well portrayed. It's not the saturday morning cartoon evil we can pretend isn't real, it's very recognizable colonizer behavior that is still around.
I think that Andor will eventually find his sister and he will be put in a situation in which he can either save her life, but jeopardize the Rebellion, or let her die to protect the cause and he will choose the cause. Because in Rogue One he tells Jyn that the only way he can live with his past decisions is if he follows the Rebellion to the end. Because if his dedication isn’t 100%, then all his past actions were cruelty and not sacrifice.
I think the manifesto will focus Cassian's anger into purpose. He's had this kind of directionless anger, since he was a kid, toward the Empire but it's never really been focused toward it. He's part survivor, part brother, part dissenter. The manifesto will give his anger a voice and allow him to realize he's been fighting this fight since he was a kid, he just could never admit to himself.
Us Brits say Leftenant as the lower rank soldier walks on the left of a senior officer. Which was used originally when they used Swords, as the Lower rank on the left protected the Senior Officer.
Addressing your observation about how this was different from a lot of other SW shows or movies, that's Tony Gilroy's style. Remember, Gilroy was the screenwriter for the Bourne series, and the sequences here were very much in line with the Bourne movies in terms of structure and pacing.
12:25 I believe in episode 5, Skeen was telling Cassian that Cinta was already sharing someone's sheets or something like that (can't remember exactly 😅), but the camera then panned to Vel. Something like that. So I guess that was a clue. 27:21 I agree, the manifesto is probably going to influence him a lot. Plus, I expect something is going to happen back in Ferrix, or to his family and friends back in Ferrix. 33:23 Now that he's got some credits, maybe he'll try to go back home to Ferrix to pay some of his debts? Hehe. 😛 But then, I expect it won't be easy to go back there because the whole of Morlana is now under Imperial authority...
Between this beautiful space escape and the space battle scene in Rogue One I think this team Gilroy assembled does the best space stuff in any star wars
This episode was so intense and great from begining to end :) I feel bad for Nemick but his manifesto will probably inspire Cassian to join Rebellion :)
Props for actually talking about the political themes of the show. They're extremely central and honestly about as subtle as a sledgehammer to the face and yet I can't tell you how many reaction channels don't even mention them.
i unsubscribed just so i could subscribe for Hector's knees. Rogue One is my favorite war movie after 1917. This is my favorite heist flick. I pray Star Wars keeps swinging it out the park.
My only speculation is that Cassian will go back to trying to find his sister and whatever happens there plus reading the manifesto will bring him back to the rebellion.
Minor correction dudes--Mon Mothma & Saw Guerrera makes it as well to Rogue -1--BUTT--> Everyone else is up for the roll of the dice here. Superb and Astonishing episode on EVERY level!
This episode reminded me of old WWII movies like Where eagles dare and similar where allies infiltrate Nazi installations. Slowly executing the plan, unlike newer movies where it is all about cool music, slow motion shots, somebody acting like Rambo or Bruce lee kicking butt unrealistically.
You know, it's so funny to me that when you think about it, the Empire reigned for less than a quarter of a century. All that bureaucratic control and military might, and yet the Simpsons have more longevity than Palpatine's reign.
I really enjoyed this episode. To me, it really seems like this show is exploring all the "grey" of living a life in the star wars universe. With no light side Jedi and no dark side sith, everyone on either side is just trying to get by. Cassian straight up murders Skeen, who may have been just testing him. I think the whole show is really well written and well made. So good. And the slow build of tension makes watching so interesting.
Wow. I'm disappointed guys. There were two clues in the last episode about Vel and Cinta's relationship. AND when the commander said that they have killed, he was talking about the colonel that Cinta shot.

As seen in other media (Rebels and books I think), it was the Ghorman Massacre that led to Mon Mothma publicly denouncing Palpatine and becoming the Rebel Alliance's leader. She'll definitely end up using this money to support the rebellion's efforts in some significant capacity
Watching this episode brought me straight back to Argo. The tension, build up, anxiety was perfect.
Yes but i Think Vel is more emotionally invested, and Centa is just for the fun and company. She could easily, hang out with Cassian.
Been waiting for you guys!!! THIS IS EPISODE!! It’s 🔥
Us Brits say Leftenant as the lower rank soldier walks on the left of a senior officer. Which was used originally when they used Swords, as the Lower rank on the left protected the Senior Officer.
I like the two groups of three episode arcs. So excited to start the next one.
*One of the best things of anything Star Wars I have ever seen.*
Andor has made me really wish there was in atmosphere combat in Squadrons
That would be so cool.
Take a shot everytime Adam says *Geezus* 🥃😂
Susanna White take a bow. She directed the hell out of that episode!
Excellent episode and series so far.
I hope they do 5 seasons of this show 12+ episodes each. Its that good.
🐝 "he has my knees!"
Guys, where is your ROP finale reaction? :)
Disney needs to release episode 6 on a big screen.it’s so well done.
Disney needs to give us the physical edition of this series!
Always interesting to see which reactors pick up on which subtext and themes.
Dude on the left had the EXACT same reaction I did when cassian busted that cap😂
Not gonna react to anything more this year u? Hector in italy again? Lotr? She hulk? Helo? Are you there?
The doctor was named Dr. Quadpaw, you gotta love how simple Star Wars makes their names sometimes.
My only speculation is that Cassian will go back to trying to find his sister and whatever happens there plus reading the manifesto will bring him back to the rebellion.
Thanks, Adam! Thanks, Hector! Thanks, Agustin! 🌠 Best yet. #HeroesReforged #StarWars #Andor #DisneyPlus
My daughter and i Love all Star,Wars and we really love this.Good job Hector,Adam ,Augustin,my daughter and i think you guys are awesome
Left Tenant is the proper English word. Lieutenant comes from the French which we use instead in America
Agustin's comment about the music making him anxious. Bro, the score and the pacing had me gasping for air.
Man, what an episode.
That kid wearing a bright Red hat and saying every 'gonna die' cliché... Like Dead Meat from the movie Hot Shots
Minor correction dudes--Mon Mothma & Saw Guerrera makes it as well to Rogue -1--BUTT--> Everyone else is up for the roll of the dice here. Superb and Astonishing episode on EVERY level!
Fun fact, lieutenant comes from old French. Translated literally (in modern french) it means "holding place" or "placeholder".
The Guns of Navarone, The Bridge On The River Kwai…
Thanks folks! I was looking forward to watching this reaction. 🙏🏼
You know, it's so funny to me that when you think about it, the Empire reigned for less than a quarter of a century. All that bureaucratic control and military might, and yet the Simpsons have more longevity than Palpatine's reign.
Hector: (whispers) Watch this
I really enjoyed this episode.
The beauty of it for me is… I have no idea what to expect. Star Wars hasn’t done that for me in a very long time 😂😂
