    Love how much personality the Army Troopers have equal to that of the random Rebels we see throughout the franchise, very different to how we see Stormtroopers as they feel like actual people rather than machines. Also love how we're actually seeing Army Troopers instead of Stormtroopers which makes since I'd imagine with the low risk they just stationed a few Army Troopers at the Dam while the Stormtroopers are stationed in the Air base as we do see some walking around behind the Tie Fighters. I've also linked the Stormtroopers to the Air/Navy as they're usually stationed on Star Destroyers or deployed from Star Destroyers to oversee a planet and city like we see in Rogue One. But for normal bases I can see those being made up of mostly Army Troopers it's just we rarely see in the films and who knows maybe the Empire pushed for more Stormtrooper deployment once the Rebellion kicked off.
    From my understanding Army Troopers were first mentioned in a novel from 2015 post EU under Disney. The designs of their outfits though look similar to the AT-ST pilots in Return of the Jedi sharing the same militant outfit and helmet while General Veers from Empire Strikes Back while in command of the AT-AT also wears a similar helmet and chest armour over his outfit. No idea if those AT-ST pilots in Jedi were Army Troopers but nonetheless the Army Trooper style of outfit has been around since Empire and Jedi only difference being the lack of chest armour worn by the AT-AT pilots and the more light grey colouring compared to the darker outfits worn in this series. Should also mention that the Officer outfit from Battlefront 2 (2005) also wears a similar outfit having the chest armour over his officer outfit and the same helmet worn by General Veers.

      Exactly....I love how they used the Imperial Source Book for this show, and how it shows the Imperial Army troopers looking as mentioned in it. The Imperial Army is not all Stormtroopers. I hope they keep Stormtroopers the same way in the book, considered elite shock troopers that supported both Navy and Army Troops, and only deployed in critical resistance areas.

    • @tailssonicteam1604
      @tailssonicteam1604 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes Stormtroopers are attached to the Navy for the Galactic Empire. They are similar to the marine corps in that they are more lightly armed force that depends on the Imperial Army for armour support and the Navy for air support.
      As for army troopers (we see them in Solo on Mimban the mud planet). They were mostly conscripts or volunteers and are the main military fighting force of the empire. We never see them as stormtroopers are just easier to sell as "bad guys" due to them having helmets so they can remain nameless and as such they are perfect cannon fodder.

      Perhaps it was intentional...perhaps K2SO will be reprogrammed by Cassian using Nemik as a baseline. His manifesto may be what gives him enough understanding of Nemik to be able to do that. Then Nemik could live on as a droid, at least in spirit. This would make K2SO's partnership/death even more meaningful.

    My heart was pounding out of my chest throughout the last 15 minutes of this episode! I was just repeating “come on, come on, come on” on and of throughout the heist. The writing and directing was honestly some of the best I have ever seen not just in Star Wars but in any spy thriller tv series.
    And even after all of this Cassian still has no hesitation to put down an enemy, even if they were once an ally. I’m so happy that they portray all these characters as being completely grey. With the exception of Nemik.😢

    • @robecoyote9136
      @robecoyote9136 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Now, I don't know if this is a plot hole, or not... But Skeen admitted he can't fly the transport. That means unless he had a partner in the group aside from Andor (who he knew nothing about until the last minute) there was no way of him pulling a double cross theft of the heist prize. So, either this was just pure opportunism on his part, an unexpected plan... or he had a partner. But I don't see any of the group being his partner. Nemik is the idealist, not a chance of him betraying the cause. Likewise with Taramyn, the ex stormtrooper. He seemed to be dedicated to the cause. We know it wouldn't have been Vel, as she's the one he was set to betray. It could have been Lt. Gorn, who might also have been lying about his involvement with the native woman, but he genuinely seemed to have a soft spot for the people and guilt over his role amongst the Empire. Cinta is the most likely accomplice, as we still know very little about her other than she is pretty ruthless, but it couldn't have been her as the plan did not call for her to escape in the ship. That leaves no-one else.
      So, I think Skeen just saw a chance he wasn't expecting to show up, and took a huge gamble on Andor being a typical 'credit driven merc'. But then, why would an obvious selfish, profit driven scumbag be involved in the cell/Rebellion in the first place (It's far too risky an endeavour)? It's a headscratcher in an otherwise impeccable episode.

But I think he just took the opportunity when it arose. I mean he was probably pondering it beforehand, but I doubt he’d have risked it if the chance hadn’t presented himself. He probably thought Andor would be his accomplice. But maybe it was Sinta.

    The heist arc is probably my favorite of the series. The great thing about the arc is that we were filled in on the plan, watched them train for it, but when it went down we didn't know they were taking hostages and using the skeleton crew to load the credits and that kept the tension going. Vel had a lot going on in her brain. That's why she didn't really have her head in the game when they were waiting for her "go" signal.
    1) It's the first mission she's ever been in charge of from beginning to end.
    2) She's still on edge about the curveball that Luthen threw at her with Cassian.
    3) She's worried she'll never see Cinta again (among other personal feelings, probably).
    4) Just the sheer, perfectly normal dread any sane person experiences when doing something this stupid (Necessary, and somewhat well-planned...but still stupid. Taking on a foe like the Empire is always stupid, no matter what...but sometimes it needs to be done, no matter the cost).

    • @Anthropius
      @Anthropius ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! All this! And this is clearly the point of no return for this mission. All that planing, all the potential risk, possibly sending everyone to their death (it's all fun and games to train and talk about risking your life but when it's real...) and also the thought of the potential reward. And it's all on her in that very moment. She is the leader. She need to decide: go or no go.

    I burst into tears at the end of this episode, ones of joy. To me, the very essence of Star Wars is the Rebellion. It's not the Jedi, it's not Bounty Hunters (no matter what cool armour they wear). It's the Rebel Alliance. That was the core of the original trilogy. The underdog fight against the monolithic Empire. From 1983 after RotJ, we had nothing....*nothing* (except for Splinter of the Minds Eye and 6 sub par 'Adventures of Han or Lando' novels) for four years until the release of the West End Games RPG in 1987. (In which, you played Rebel Operatives and Rebel Cells, just like we saw in this story arc). The big boom of EU novels didn't happen until 1991. The big Jedi lore drop didn't take place until TPM in 1999 (at which point they took over as the main focus). The Rebellion is the *core essence*, the foundation of what is Star Wars. And we finally have it back in focus, and exquisitely done.

      No, he explained it very clear; he is just trying to survive and in his experience you don't survive by helping others but by helping yourself. He saw himself in Andor and realized there was an opportunity to leave with all those sweet credits. That's why the show is so fucking good, all the characters are so well written, they are grounded in their perception of the world and make decisions based on their previous experience and what drives them, not because the script need them to. It's such a pure character driven drama and I love it.

    I honestly think this is the best Star Wars ever.

    Andor has Ferrix, where the locals bang bin lids as the law arrives, and Aldhani, where the highland people are cleared to the lowlands by a colonial power.
    It's hard not to notice the Britnat parallels.

    Why is it that when a Star War finally comes out that seems to be really well liked by most of the viewers half the fanbase isn't watching? Lol I know Mando is well liked, but idk how much of that is thanks to Grogu. Andor didn't cheat. It's just genuinely great. Not perfect, but more people need to give it a chance.

    0:31 Yes! I actually realized this last week after the episode. witch is pretty star warsy, wouldn't you say? having the story in a trilogy?
    5:16 I think it's good they have this intro, it forces me to realign my brain and get ready for the shows tempo and not be too antsy to get to the thing.
    10:42 A perfect way of reminding Adam about the live action underwater stuff in episode I
    12:15 Yeah, I thought the same thing Adam
    16:13 "WOW!" indeed Jay, indeed.
    16:29 Yep, that is amazing. also, that is something we have not seen live action before, a Pilot entering a TIE.
    21:23 Yeah, I thought about you guys when I saw it, from the moment you noted "Oh, He dead" as soon as he started talking about that manifesto of his.
    So many dead! Only Kassian and the two Ladies survived.
