With ADHD, there is *reading* and then there is *looking at words and not taking a single one in because you were thinking about something else while tricking your eyes into thinking you were paying attention* As an English Literature student before my diagnosis, I cannot tell you how many books I "read" for my degree that I could not tell you the plot of. Like at all. I saw the books...I saw every single page...but I did not *read* them unless I was genuinely interested.
I read Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood this month and I LOVED her writing and the romance! The characters were so like-able, the comedy was amazing, and the character growth without it being like super cheesy was amazing. I can't wait to read more of her books :)
I am with you with loving ACOTAR, and not suffering throught it i loved it just as much as the rest of the series, but buckle up its such a fun ride, the whole SJM world :D , plis i read icebreaker as well. and i loved, it, but still felt like it was all of convenience. just felt like all the good things happened. but i need a book about henry ASAP lol i love that guy soooo much lol
I love how you challenge yourself to read books that are outside of the realm of what you think you might like, such as cowboy romances and dark romances. It’s just part of why I love reading, seeing things from different perspectives and being pleasantly surprised by what I might like ❤ such a great start to reading for 2024 🎉

okay i just wanna ask a question when u discovered that ur a mood reader with adhd what are the steps u did to read on a baisse like that and was it hard or u just get right into reading ??? because i’m really struggling and i’m going through a mini slump every single week ?
No it’s definitely a constant struggle, even when I’m super in the mood for a book even just making the decision to stop whatever else I’m doing and sit down to read can be difficult!! And I’m still trying new things to help out with that but I think it’s just something I will always have to struggle with bc thats just my brain /: BUT I’ve definitely found ways to help, the first thing is I try to really romanticize it that way it’s extra exciting and captivating for my brain (for example I get excited to use a cute bookmark or snuggle up in my reading blanket and pick an ambience video on TH-cam, or make a cute little snack I get to eat while I start a new book!!) or even just setting a 2-5 minute timer and challenging yourself to read until the timer goes off before you have the option to stop makes it feel like a game in some ways and then usually for me at least just starting reading is one of the hardest parts, just getting my brain to settle down and enter that mode.. ALSO lol if I’m really struggling to concentrate I LOVE having an audiobook read to me WHILE I read!!! It’s honestly a game changer because most of the time I don’t want to just listen like I want to read the book but my brain just won’t let me having it almost read to me while I read helps me start books too!! Especially books with a lot of explaining in the beginning where it’s just slower!!! I hope some of these helps!!! Definitely do not feel bad though, sometimes I try all of this and I literally can’t sit down and focus and some days it’s so much easier for me to concentrate… remember there are a lot of other factors that can contribute to how your adhd is almost like triggered ever day and it’s normal to be super in the mood and then struggling the next day, it happens to me literally every week!!!!! 🤍

What would you rate the chestnut springs series spice level wise? I’d love to get into it but I don’t necessarily love a lot of spice however I don’t mind it if it’s not excessive
Honestly they’re pretty spicy! Lol but they are usually more of a slow burn so I feel like it’s a good like 1/3 maybe even farther through the book before there’s usually spice? And I also feel like you could skip over the spice scenes without missing anything plot wise too!!
I just got the the fake out book from Amazon yesterday and haven’t read it yet. I got some many romance books I haven’t read or finished yet cause I be so busy with my 1 year old son
@@HalJones I believe a retelling would stick more to the story line but just change smaller details. Not 100% sure tho lol the author said she didn’t think of it a retelling at least
Don’t be too hard on yourself about it!! It’s super normal and all it takes is finding the right book to reignite that spark!! Just give yourself the time to try different things until the right thing and don’t feel bad about not getting too far into books before you move on because forcing yourself to read what you’re not in the mood for will just make it worse!!! 🩷
