I started swimming again, two months ago. I had some kind of stroke and my mobility was somehow compromised. The pandemic did not help. So, now, as I am recuperating from cancer scarring, I decided to exercise to gain life back. I swim everyday 1h 1/2 . My health improved significantly, I have stronger core , walk much better, feel happier, more positive. And although I am still fat and I am self conscious about it, I feel great, I lost 4 inches in my waist . I have a brain tumour that messes up my ability to lose weight.
However, my health is better , my meds have been halved , my pain level is reduced … I think , people should swim just for the shake of it , it has a long list of benefits, even if we never get a perfect looking body .
Don’t give up and keep swimming!

Thanks for the video, I will certainly use it as a reference.
I'm 37 years old, used to swim in my school years, main style was fly and personal best on 100m short course was 01:03.02 when I was 17. Nowadays I think I have the best form since those days swimming 01:08.9 100m fly on the long course. It's really interesting to watch for myself, my progress, but the most embarrassing thing to me is that I swam faster last year (100m fly 01:07.91 long course) when my weight was 10kg higher than now and certainly fat percentage was higher (which is now 15-17%).
I will use some tips from this video in order to swim faster and build a better body. :)

This is the best video on how to get to low body fat percentage. I have been swimming for 1 hr daily for a few months now. I recently added 12-3-30 walking workout daily and some weight training to that. I make sure I burn 1200 calories a day through exercise. I can see my body transforming every week and I can swim faster every day.

My goal is to lose 80 lbs of fat. I’ve been swimming for about two and a half months. I have lost 23 pounds. My goal is 130-140 lbs. I have taken all of these factors into consideration, plus my age (57). I’m 5.4 in height and currently weighing 199 lbs. If I manage to keep consistency, I might reach my goal by June 2024. I injured my left knee playing basketball in my college years. I gave birth to four children, and I did not take care of my body. I also have an umbilical hernia that needs surgery, which is the reason I stopped weight lifting. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 20 years ago, which is the reason why I chose swimming as my best alternative. I know that eventually, as I lose weight and gain strength, I will be able to be even more active and increase variety into my exercise routine. Thank you for being one of the many great instructors with swim pro. I will let you know how I’m doing when June next year come.😊

My goal is not to get tired of swimming so that I would do it for a long time. I did lose weight slowly from daily swimming. My posture is better because i got a stronger upper body. I love using paddles. As a side benefit I got better biceps. I don’t really like weight lifting but I am trying to do quadruped movement weekly. I just started going back to swing dancing as cross train to get a better cardio. Btw, I cook at home and hardly eat processed food. I cook because I use good ingredients and dishes taste way better. As a result I eat less and enjoy my food much more.

Hey, good question! The streamline position is fundamental for breaststroke, and great to hit every stroke in a 200. The key to a quicker pull is handspeed, tempo and turnover. A great drill for this is doing butterfly kicks with your breaststroke arms and shooting your arms every time you kick! Give it a try and happy swimming :)

Easy. Start your pull immediately on reaching full extension.

I think we have different opinions about burning calories with swimming.. at least in my case, 1hr of swimming (2.6km) burns 1000cal while in gym im maybe around 500-600cal.
So i think im much more tired after swimming.
So food, training and good rest is all you need to see progress.

How many calories should i eat at 6’1”.. swimming 1 hour 4-5 days a week along with 3 45 minute weight training sessions? I want to lose weight and build some muscle. Right now i am eating 2700 calories a day but am not sleeping well. I eat 200 grams of protein a day and the rest of my calories from carbs and fat.

That's what i thought, misleading title, but yeah i think if youre swimming like really intensively and eat lots of protein you'll build some for sure.

I have been swimming for 10 years i think. If you are hungry after the training just eat a lot of vegetables, like beans. So you are going to have your regular healthy dinner + half a kilo of salad or bean which is going to fill you up like crazy.

I LOVE YOUR COMMENT: nutrition is what happens when you go grocery shopping. The problem is most people don't know how to cook the ingredients they buy, which they know they should eat, to a standard which makes eating well an enjoyable lifetime experience. How you are outside the water is reflected in it: if you don't enjoy consistently what you need to do to swim consistently you will fail and blame everyone but yourself and your lack of (culinary) skills.
Your videos are truly outstanding, thank you.

Swimming builds muscle. If it didn't, there would be no such thing as a "swimmer's body"!

nobody tells you this: you need to be a good swimmer to use swimming as a viable form of cardio.
everybody assumes that you can swim. I mean... swim "swim". nobody can "swim". some people just float...
