For some reason this video reminded me that my coil pack connector is electrical taped to the wiring harness connector and its run that way for about 3 or so years with zero problems
Great video Major! Quick question, I noticed your engine sounds like a couple of our XJs as far as the slight tick/light knock sound. Does yours go away after it warms up? Also what do you suspect it is?
These 4.0 engines are known for making noise at start up. Yes it is completely quiet when warm. I think it is a top end rattle, meaning lifters are not pumped up all the way and have valve chatter. If yours does this try taking one of the cheap harbor freight stethoscopes and touch the valve cover when cold and then go under and touch the oil pan and see which area is louder. Might make a great video for you!

That's crazy!

@@MajorWeakness Awesome! Will do Major!
Piston skirt failure is very common in the 80s and newer 4.0 L
Groovy fix!
Thank you it helped my 1988 xj. Runs like new .
Glad it helped
I bet it was sucking in air through the broken gasket on the throttle body
Coul have been. Running smooth since this repair
Nice job,
Thanks
Very cool
So was it the broken throttle body gasket?😁
I think it tore when I removed but it's working now!😁
What is the cleaner you used
Just walmart brand carburetor cleaner
Is there a way to increase idles a bit?
It's preprogrammed in your computer. Shouldn't be a needn't increase unless the idle air control unit is bad or dirty throttle
Thanks!!!
You are welcome
Don't go with W D 40, on electronics...
Please.
This is WD 40 Specialty Electronics Cleaner, not regular WD40
