The recent muppet movie with Jason Segel... is great too!
I used the muppets' version for my wedding march... it was fun
The "Crazy SOB" at 30:56 is "Crazy Harry," he plays the explodaphone.
The one that throws the fish is "Lew Zealand," and he does the "Boomerang Fish Act." He throws the fish away and it comes back.
Both were played by Jerry Nelson.
Suprised you didn't recognize the guy whose roller skates Ms. Piggy borrowed. He was Josephus from Mel Brooks' "History of the World Part I"! 🙂
They actually made the Muppet Babies cartoon, and had them all as Mcdonalds happy meal toys. It was as big a hit as you would think.
I don't recall who came up with the idea of Muppets as babies, but the idea replaced some other scene they had planned for this movie and the Muppet Babies became very popular, even creating a very successful Saturday Morning Cartoon series that lasted like 8 years.
One of the cameos in this is actually more of a creator cameo -- the secretary of the con man is played by Gates McFadden, who was not well known as an actress at the time but was the Muppets dance choreographer on some movies. She later winded up better known as Doctor Crusher on Star Trek The Next Generation.
"Now, while Daddy is gone, little lumpy-dum-dums won't have his Daddy to give him washy-scrubby."
As a "dog person", yes, we talk to our dogs in silly voices, and always will. 😂😂😂😂 ❤❤❤
A Muppets Chrstmas Carol is the Muppets movie of the ages!!!
This was always my fav growing up. I also love Treasure Island and (not a popular opinion) Muppets from Space
15:04 "That thing behind their heads" is like a mini juke box. There were diners where they would have one of these on all of the tables. Like a regular jukebox, you would put money in and select a song.
They were all hooked up together and your song selection would be played over the diner speakers.
Basically it was a way to pick out songs on a jukebox without having to walk over to one and maybe have to stand in line.
Miss Piggy explained in an interview why she always wears gloves. According to her, she started her career as a hand model and she was paid in gloves. Now she has a lifetime supply.
Miss Piggy; truly an icon for the ages.
The roller skates guy is Gregory Hines, he was an amazing dancer and entertainer. 😊 He was in a movie called Tap, which featured some of the tap dance legends of the time, including infant Savion Glover who wasn't a legend then but he is now.😁
That "creepy" Muppet is Cray Harry who at the end of The Muppet Movie being the electrician. In The Muppet Show he appears as a running gag when someone says a word that have to do with explosivies like "Did someone say 'bang'?" and then push his plunger which causes an explosion nearby or does something that have to with explosions such as shooting with a cannon (such as with Gonzo's cannon ball catching act in the John Cleese episode).
I adore this movie because it introduces us to Rizzo. Rizzo is my fav Muppet, hands down. once you get to treasure island I think you might just get why.... hahahaaaa
We first saw Rizzo on The Muppet Show a few years before this movie. He also appeared in The Great Muppet Caper, also before this movie.
3:36 Dabney Coleman. Also in TOOTSIE!
The lady in the restaurant who you didn't recognise was Liza Minnelli daughter of Judy Garland and star of such movies as Arthur, Cabaret, New York New York and stepping out.
Man this brings back memories haha, this was the muppets movie I watched the most growing up
Muppets Christmas Carol, Treasure Island & Muppets in Space (in that order) are the only ones I remember loving.
I don't even remember any of the others
I can’t wait for you to watch Treasure Island. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is my favorite Muppet movie!
Those little mini jukebox things were at tables in diners back in the 60's. I remember after kindergarten I'd wait for my Mom to get off work in a booth and she would give me fries and chocolate milk and a dime for the jukebox. The big hit back then was Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho
More recently Johnny Rockets and other retro-themed burger joins have had them as well.
Thank you for doing all these Muppet Movies.
(4:18) Oh look: it's Dr. Beverly Crusher...
I had to back it up and check again. Sure was…
He put on the show despite feeling like something was missing because there was a deadline for the senior variety show. It's like they say about Saturday Night Live, "The show goes on at 11:35 not because it's ready, but because it's 11:35."
Also, you correctly flagged the boss from 9 To 5; that was Dabney Coleman.
Please do Follow that Bird (the first Sesame Street Movie).
It’s (at least technically) the next Muppet Movie.
I tried to find that movie about 15 years ago and couldn't find it. I have deep childhood memories of that movie
Ashleigh, I have not commented on many of your videos or many videos in general lol, because I always figure they never reach the content creator. Well on the off chance that someone passes this along to you, hi I’m Sophie lmao and I just really wanted you to know from the bottom of my heart that having you to hang out with on here has been the greatest gift one person can give another human being. You have given me parasocial friendship, laughter, advice, shared experiences and stories… I have been dealing with some rocky years, transitioning and having never worked or been independent, while the single dad I was raised by (along with my kickass grandma who was a mom to me in every way) is the sole breadwinner because I just have always struggled to socialize or function in society or make friends. And I know you have no idea I exist, but every time I watch you, I am sitting on a couch with a friend I feel safe with, laughing at and crying at great cinema. Thank you so much for what you do and I’m so grateful to God that you can make a living doing it. 🙏 Many blessings and greater successes yet I believe you’ll go all the way and beyond! 🥹 Sorry for the book. Just… God bless you, Ashleigh. Thank you. 💜
RIP
Dabney Coleman
(1932-2024)
I forgot he passed away this year! What a great actor.
I love all the old Muppet movies. It's just sad that there probably won't ever be any more Muppet movies again. Thank you tor the review.
You really don't know Liza Minnelli a legend.
