Thank you, Michael!!! My son is 10 years old and wanted to print his own shirts and he is a wonderful streetware artist! I was missing a few things like the powder and appropriate temp. Thank you for helping make his dream come true!!!!
Warm peel works best in our testing, some printers have sensors and will not print on overhead sheets because they cannot not detect a surface to print on. You can use a temp spray and place a piece of white paper behind the transparent sheet to get the printer to print. Embossing powder works with an inkjet printer, use whatever color embossing powder you would like. Make sure to apply the powder before the ink dries. Transparencies can attract powder particles and brushing may not remove all of the loose powder when using embossing powder. Tested at 320 degrees for 90 seconds also worked great. If using Sub ink, white embossing powder works, however the print will not be as clear nor as bright as using DTF powder. Happy Crafting!
That was amazing. I just watched a tutorial using DTF printer and film and the DTF printer was so expensive. I know you couldn't print on dark material but to be able to print on cotton alone is a big plus. Thank you for taking all the guessing out of this process for us. You save us so much time and money. You're the best!
Yes!! My husband spent over $2800 buying me a "cheap" DTF printer 2 yrs ago and I haven't even done a test print to this day. Thisnis so much cheaper. I hope he can come upnwith a way to do dark shirts too
@@sinsofvorador I believe you just need one of the eco tank printers that have the two black tanks and you put white dtf ink in one of the black spots. Havnt tried myself but seen a video on it and makes sense. I believe there's just a change you need to make in your software for the color profile. But then again, what's the toll your ecotank will pay to run those unsupported inks?
It would be nice if you replied to questions that people have asked about this method, seems you do when they are praising you or you pick what ones you’d like to reply to. I see lots of unanswered questions here
I am so here for this! I just tried sublimation spray on a cotton tshirt last night and the picture did not transfer well at all. It was super light where you could barely see it. I’m sure it was “user error”. I can’t wait to see how this works! ❤️
Hi Michael! You are my go to guy! I did an experiment using your materials but doing a cold peel as Crystal Ann suggests...the film separated leaving a cellophane layer on my tshirt. People don't do a cold peel do as Michael said "hot peel".
I am also obsessed with this stuff. But just can’t seem to eat anything right. I get lucky occasionally and something will look good! Which is why I’m calling myself Accidentally Craftyy! 🤪
Had the same problem. You have to take a piece of regular printer paper and tape it to the BACK of the transfer paper. I had to move the regular printer paper down about 2 inches, and place a piece of tape on the end of the transfer paper and regular paper so the printer will feed the regular paper in first triggering the printer mechanism and then it feeds and prints. You can use ANY transfer paper.
Omg! This is a complete game changer. So here's my tricky question. Would this process also work on regular tumblers in a tumbler press that are not made for sublimation? Maybe do a cool peel rather than a warm peel? Also, I do a lot of shirts for larger people so is there a brand of film that you would recommend for 13x19? I very rarely use 8.5x11. Thank you so much, this video totally made my day!!!
Awesome Job. So excited to try this... So, any suggestions on other powder adhesive since its out of stock on Amazon?? What to do with my excess HTV Vinyl now that this step is best?? lol
Michael, I’ve been thinking about how to use Crystal’s (Design Bundles) version of this hack but get a white background along with it without using DTV for colored cotton. How about using white sublimation paint? Make a stencil outline of the image you want on the cotton, put it on a piece of DTF film (same one you would stick in the printer) and paint on the white sublimation paint, put the powder on it, remove the stencil, place it on the shirt and heat press like you normally would and then warm peel it off. Now you have a white sublimated background on cotton. Then do Crystal’s regular sublimation DTF hack for getting the image on the shirt. I’m not sure if it would work since now you are layering the sublimation ink on top of the white sublimation ink instead of straight to the shirt but I thought it would be worth a try. I posted a similar comment on Crystal’s video but I’m not sure she’ll read it so I thought I’d bring it up to you.
I am so excited for this tutorial. Just started making t-shirts and mugs. There are just so many cotton brand shirts out there. Also just used my crafty 10% off 143 vinyl and saved over $20 on my 2 different orders. Thanks for that🙏.
so i may be a little late to the party, but I just tried this and was amazed. one problem was the wheel from the printer left trace lines of black down the middle of the image that I did not see before hand. is there a solution ? less ink setting? I do not have a transparency paper setting. Any suggestions are welcome. thank you
Love learning how sublimate on 100% cotton!! I placed a order for some shirts not realizing they was 100% until after I washed them!! The print was almost completely washed away!! I immediately looked at the label saying oh Sh-t!!
I have a question they make two different powders they make a white and a black wouldn't the white toner act like a backing like if you would done a white HTV. Or does it go completely clear and maybe they make a pigmented DTF powder it's just adhesive right
Holy beans I was just thinking about this yesterday and wanting to try it but wasn't sure if it would work ! Woohoo looking forward to this. Thank you!!
So I have been working with this process and my best results were with forever laser dark multi A paper pressing for about 20-25 sec and lower temp at 320 degrees. My new problem is I'm getting little colored spots from reusing the powder. if the powder soaks up the ink and falls back with leftover powder it will leave spots on the next print. took me several prints to figure out where the spots were coming from. I also did cold peel and the film came right off.
Followed your instructions, exactly, and I'll add, I also have a Star Craft press so shouldn't have been any issue there. However, I ended with a brown rectangle around my image, which did not fully sublimate. Lol, back to the drawing board!
Wow this will definitely be a game changer! I'm in Florida and wow, rarely wear 100% polyester shirts, it's just too hot for that. Well, its ok in winter, but you know, we can get away with it for 3 or 4 months. Hiya. Is this still a viable option for printing on cotton? I bought the printable HTV vinyl, but I don't like the white outline it gives - I am still very new to crafting. What about if you don't have a clam heat press, how you to suggest we heat up the design after applying the powder?
Also will this allow you to print white, example a white dog on a black t-shirt or would I need a printer that uses white ink? I have a converted epson printer
This is so amazing but, I have a question; After printing your design out how much time do you have to use the DTF, do you have to use it right away or do you have to use it within the same day?

OMG, thank you for posting this! Game changer!! Cotton t-shirts we can get anywhere. I've already tried a couple and they came out GREAT! Question for you: Do you need to put the powder on immediately after printing? I'm just wondering if I printed a few things ahead of time, but didn't want to press right away, would I powder first, then store until wanting to press, or add the powder just prior to pressing? Do you know?
You have to add the powder while ink is still wet. Then if wanting to store for awhile definitely heat until powder turns clear. Another video I watched said this . hope it helps

Michael, I’ve been thinking about how to use Crystal’s (Design Bundles) version of this hack but get a white background along with it without using DTV for colored cotton. I’m not sure if it would work since now you are layering the sublimation ink on top of the white sublimation ink instead of straight to the shirt but I thought it would be worth a try.
