  • FF14 certainly took a lot of inspiration from FF12 and Tactics for sure. And yet, the Dalmasca we have within our beloved MMO is very much different and its own thing. So why not learn what's the same and what's different within this video? Hopefully we can bridge them and find a reason to love FF12's story all over again!

@@fredy2041 honestly, yeah. That's the main reason I can understand garleans not wanting anyone to take control of it. To them, the tower was responsible for their lives turning into a living hell as everyone around them was tempered, enslaved, and horribly mutated. All while in the middle of a civil war, the tower would basically be a reminder of their worst nightmares. So letting other countries control it would be even more terrifying. Especially if they understand how justified other countries are in hating them. So they would be giving the tower that they see as responsible for the downfall of their way of life away to people who hate them and might want to use it to make them suffer.

I really love these videos on the history of other countries in ffxiv. I feel like so much of the game has focused on eorzia that i actually dont entirely understand a lot of the world outside of it. Which made it a bit confusing when i went through the ivalice raids because i didnt quite know where we were or what the timeline was. For some reason, up until now i thought the royal family from the ivalice raids died centuries ago and it was some sort of lost civilization. So a more detailed breakdown of the history of etheiris is very welcome.

Ah finally, a lecture on Dalmasca! Wonderful lectures, as always. I read the wiki extensively about Dalmasca, having written up my WoL as a Dalmascan who left the city after being a target of the 14th Legion. I have also written him up as passing by Nagxia in an attempt to get to neutral Hingashi territory (I feel like the sea routes around Valnain would be controlled by Garlemald, so escaping through there is no go.)
But alas, I can’t Bozja to save my arse, so I can’t play the continuation of the Ivalice raids. O)-

I have a feeling that if we ever get to meet Lady Ashe, we'll also meet Basch and I hope it leads to us tracking down Gabranth, since he was given those two ancient Bozjan weapons at the end of the Bozja Front story. So I highly doubt he's actually dead and instead chose to go into hiding for the time being by faking his own death and is plotting to use those two weapons for something.

I am very late with this comment, but it's still very much plausible as the way Dalmasca / Bozja ended was intended from the start given interviews that happened after the fact, and we've seen now that Matsuno is still on good terms with the XIV team / they're still willing to pull in his plots thanks to this patch. I wouldn't give up on it, Dalmasca's been a huge lore staple and even has numerous references as of Endwalker, I don't think they're gonna forget about it so easily.
There are plenty of links and articles out there that show some of Matsuno's tweets were misconstrued, so I wouldn't give up hope on seeing Dalmasca brought into the light soon.

Another great video as always professor. Although I do need to ask, I always found it to be extremely Strange just how similar Dalmsaca is to the ancient kingdom of ivalece. It’s got me thinking is it possible that Dalmasca simply grew out of the now defunct nation? Granted we don’t know when ivelice fell, but from what I’ve gathered Dalmsaca is extremely old. Mayhap even older than places such as ra-za-han. My point is what do you think of this theory? The similarities in their architecture and probability the most fascinating link is the mention of a goddess of light in religious text from both nations. So what do you think? Do think it simply replaced the old nation or do you think it’s possible that ancient people of Dalmasca simply found the ruins of old and decided to model their kingdom after them?

Or perhaps maybe I'm missing something, all i got the was the final argument between the 2 remaining commanders after the 2nd raid's fall and well... that was it. I've read about the part he mentioned in the video but man I would of loved to see something more tangible in game (maybe it's there and I haven't seen it yet).

I think I heard somewhere that when he came to Hydelyn he was permitted to stay and have his kids if he guarded Silvertear Lake. Either way I still think it was a bit of a dick move. It royally screwed over Moenbryda. Maybe if he’s protecting the WoL in her stead he should have stepped in against the Ascians since he stripped the WoL of their only real defence against them. And again in the Sea of Clouds when the key to Azys La was stolen literally from the WoL’s hand.
I’m not saying he should have stepped in every time the WoL was threatened, but after removing the ability to be protected against the Ascians I can’t help but feel like he could have been a little more proactive.

However, these (npc) clowns that continue to defend Garlean territory, property, and autonomy all on the back of Garlean PRIDE - just rub me the wrong way. You're not wrong. The "Garlean Pride" they speak of has put many lives to the sword. @@SynodicScribe They are also very antagonistic to everything but themselves, it's not so much pride but at their core they are very scared of the outside world and other races due to their history of being forced out of their home country and no way of defense being born without magic and indoctrination makes this worse, then they get this sense of belonging via pride (the bond they share eachother), but it is build on fear. All in all it will probably take tremendous efforts and time to rebuild Garlemald into a stable form again. Every other nation we would be done with in the patch cycle story, but Garlemald is still far from finished. Curious what they plan to do with it.

That's... odd, having Ashe and Rasler be twins

Right? They changed around quite a lot of relationships for the "adaptation" of FF12. haha

Waaait is this an alt timeline where ashelia and rassler were siblings and not married? Or is FF12 rocking an incest vibe I never picked up on

      It's a completely different timeline/Dalmasca.
