  • In this video we put on our scuba gear and filmed what fishing structure looked like on the bottom of the ocean compared to how it showed up on our depth recorder. Marine electronics have come a long a way and provide valuable insight as to where the fish are at. Knowing how to read your depth recorder will help you to catch more fish. In this video we'll help you to see what the actual structure is and then how it shows up on your depth recorder. We are using Garmin electronics but all depth recorders show in a similar manner. We look at artificial reefs, natural reefs, hard bottom, ledges and the fish that hang around these structure.

Always thought thin red line was sand🙄 and thicker red line was a rocky bottom 🤔 thanks for the info.

50 vs 200 hz, not kilowatts

You use the terms 200 kilowatts and 50 kilowatts when referring to transducer ranges. Kilowatts is a measure of power and you would need to be towing an enormous generator to come with 200 kilowatts. The diagram actually refers to kilohertz, a measure of frequency. the transducer operates in two frequency ranges. big difference.

Yeah your right, good catch. I was meaning to refer to kHz but I said kW. Thanks for pointing that out!

I'm confused, this guy th-cam.com/video/Fcd1pvH-0gY/w-d-xo.html&feature=emb_title says the exact opposite that you said in regards to hard bottom vs sand.

Hello captain my name is capt Tim and I'm new to the business can you tell me how to anchor over hard bottom, wrecks, rocks, and ledgers, how far do i go before I throw the anchor thank you 😊

It depends on on the conditions. In a calm day with little current you don't need much but if its rough you'll need more. I probably go 100 to 200 ft in about 80 ft of water. What might work good is to drop a marker jug right on the ledge so you will have a visual reference. Then drive up further than you think, because you can always let out more line if you need to go further back. Then just watch your gps to make sure your not moving. Does that help?

Great video man. Thank you. My buddy has purchased a GoPro and we are planning on dropping it down on our spots to see exactly what its like. We are always wondering what its like exactly and what kind of fish are held up on the structure.
