I think he kills victor for a few reasons, but i think it’s mainly because Victor got himself seen at the murder scene

Experiencing this for the first time, man. It's spectacular, and fucking terrifying too. That face Gus has the whole time, and the vicious way he murders Victor, it even terrifies not just Walt and Jesse, but Mike too!
I'm assuming Gus killed Victor because he was identifiable for walking in at the crime scene and possibly leaving evidence that could lead to Gus. The fact that people saw Victor but not Jesse spoke volumes.
Yep. He gets rid of a liability and puts the fear of God into Walt and Jesse. Two birds, one stone.
Not to mention the fact that he was basically stepping out of line trying to cook probably ruining the batch. Also sends a strong message to Walt and Jesse.
did you see that gus killed victor with the same box cutter that Gale used to open the lab stuff?
and yes, gus killed him because of at least 4 reasons:
-he got himself seen,
-he let gale die,
-he was so pissed and wanted to show walt and jesse what he wants to do to them, but cant
-and definitely because of the disrespect of cooking without being told to
Victor's death was the result of a combination of things.
• He arrogantly walked straight into a crime scene with witnesses present and shrugged it off.
• He began a cook with the expectation that it would be acceptable because of their deadline and his experience watching them, something he thinks is a subtle brag about the quality of his work. But, again, it's just arrogance.
• Gus knew he couldn't kill Walt or Jesse at that moment, but he needed to exercise his dominance over them, so Victor was the unlucky victim of that message. His arrogance was his downfall.

I don't think Victor cooking was much of a factor. I'm certain Gus had already decided to kill Victor (precisely for the other two points you make) even before he arrived at the lab and saw that.

Aaron Paul is such a a good actor the way he holds the tears in his eyes until he pulls the trigger then let's the tear fall is just perfect

Unfortunately, many people simply do not realize how much and deeply the show can transform. They think it's just a black comedy and deprive themselves of an amazing experience.
This was one of the most tension-filled season premiere ever! You see even Mike pulled his gun when Gus sliced Victor. Its so nuts!
This season is hands down my favorite season. You're gonna love it!

Fairly sure that Gus killed Victor as a message specifically because he was so loyal. Almost like an “ok you’re right, I still need you for right this moment. But don’t forget the position you’re in. This guy is actually loyal and useful to me and I still have no issue whatsoever killing him with my own hands”

Its because he was seen at the murder scene
I'm almost at the end of the show and I'm telling you season 4 and 5 are absolutely out of the world
That scene transition from Victor’s blood cutting to ketchup and fries at Denny’s still creeps me out! Even when the bloodiest scene is over, it haunts and follows you over to the next scene.
That whole scene though, where Gus takes the cleanup into his own hands, in a manner of speaking…my neck still hurts just thinking about it, and seeing the image in my head again.
The fact that Jesse was actually the least scared among the three says a lot in how broken he was…This definitely haunts Jesse, in many ways that becomes more clear soon enough…
Jesse has been willing to kill before. He had shot Tuco in self-defence, and bashed his forehead with a rock…or in Hank’s words, a mineral, lol. Even if Hank didn’t finish him off, Tuco still could’ve died.
But killing Gale was definitely a major turning point, and it had a big impact on Jesse. Jesse’s loyalty to Walt, while admirable, can sometimes be the thing that hurts him most. Even before Walt gave Jesse the order, and even though they barely knew each other, Jesse didn’t want Walter to kill Gale. Gale wasn’t quite like the other criminals in the game. He was sympathetic, likeable, “Captain Nerd” As Jesse put it 😄
You’re in for an insane season! Season 4 was definitely the ultimate turning point for Breaking Bad…Many characters go in such great directions throughout the season. Jesse, Mike, and Gus!
Season 4 is actually what introduced me to the show. One scene in particular.
Jesse's relatively calm reaction to the murder of Gale and Victor shows us how long and dramatic the journey Jesse has come to, and this has hardened him.
Gus silent presence was throughout the whole thing was insane, Jess has really been through the worst if not physically mentally for sure

Gus killing Victor is such a chilling scene, he can be absolutely vicious when he wants to be.
Season 4 and 5 are off the charts. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul's acting is on another level from anything I've ever seen on TV during these 2 seasons. You will get a lot more of Mike too, and he will easily be one of your favorite characters.

It's interesting that you weren't sure whether Jesse had actually killed Gale -- you weren't alone there. Lots of people were confused, or some people's DVR recordings cut off the final second, from what I've read. The creators have said that they didn't mean for things to be so ambiguous, and if they'd known how confused lots of people would be, they would have staged the end of 313 differently to be clearer.
People are just dense. The camera rotated so that the audience was staring down the barrel from Gale's POV, then it went off, and cut to black. Pretty cut and dry.
Even Mike, who is usually unflappable, pulled his gun out instinctually on Gus when he killed Victor. Obviously Mike is the most loyal to Gus, but it scared/shocked him so badly for a split second he saw Gus as a threat.
The best collectable i’ve ever owned in my life.. I had a signed Giancarlo Esposito (Gus) Box Cutter, the same exact one from this episode. It was so cool to have but unfortunately I sold it 😔

@ItsAPrimate I think Gus killed Victor for a number of reasons. He got himself seen at the crime scene and people watched him walk into Gales house, he didn't stop Jessie in time from doing it, and he started a cook without permission from Gus to do it. Not to mention Gus was so filled with rage he needed to show them how serious he was about shit not going wrong

There’s alot of reasons for why he killed victor but the main one was definitely to send a message to walt and jesse another Banger Primate Happy New Year man

Victor was seen at the apartment and was acting sus. If they find Victor and can link him to this car wash hes always at, they can link him to gus. Also hes not as good a cook as Gale so hes really not a suitable replacement for Walt

This episode was scary intense , Gus showed us he means business.
That scene was really terrifying man, plus I think Gus killed Victor because he was going to be identifiable to the witnesses who saw the crime scene, so he killed him in order to not be connected to the crime scene.

I really recommend you watch Mr. Robot it is one of the best shows to ever air on TV. It is criminally underrated and i think you would love it. Its one of the few shows along with Breaking Bad that gets better as each season comes out

Season 4 is easily my favorite season of Breaking Bad
This show was my introduction to Giancarlo Esposito and man he is such a fucking phenomenal actor, I need to catch up to the mandalorian so I can see him as moff!!
So the biggest reason he killed Victor was that he was seen at the crime by witnesses. Earlier in the episode mike asks if Victor was seen. Something Mike tells to Gus on the phone, we assume its Gus at least. So Victor was killed for a few reasons, 1 to send a message to walter and jesse everyone is expendable, 2 for fucking up and letting gale get killed, and 3 being sloppy at the scene of the crime and getting spotted. Mike would have NEVER been allowed to be seen by people. Victor was wreckless. Gus can't have that.

16:33 - Victor at least had a mom and dad somewhere, who knows maybe even a brother and or sister. Maybe even a girlfriend or fiance. And just as was the case with NYC Mob members and crime family associates, they will simply be missing forever. There will be no body to recover or any closure for anyone.
I think that the main reason why Gus killed Victor was because people saw him at the crime scene and to send a message to Walt and Jesse
Gus is a power player you do not cross. Even Mike was scared. The real reason Gus killed Victor was because Victor could be identified at Gail's apartment. Victor told Mike he was seen at the crime scene and Mike told Gus over the phone. So Gus used Victor one last time for intimidation. With Gus there are NO LOOSE ENDS.

I think the reason that Gus killed Victor, was not only for intimidation, but also because he tried to cook and wasted materials; doesn’t matter if you watch step by step a process to develop sth, if you’re not involved in it, you’ll miss little details.
I miss that Denny's restaurant that was used in this and later episodes.A nice spot to go get breakfast after a night out on the town. It closed down and was demolished. Now there is a Chipotles there. Yet another victim of the Breaking Bad Curse.

I think he killed Victor mostly because he allowed himself to be seen at the crime scene. But, it was also because he cooked on his own. And Gus wanted to send Walt and Jesse a message.

It took till my 2nd rewatch to come to the conclusion that Gus knew that Victor got seen at the scene (lol) of Gale's crime scene. Gus takes no chances, except to deal with Walt and Jesse, which would ultimately be his downfall.
I love that you noticed and mentioned the silent scene of Marie gathering herself before entering her home and seeing her grumpy husband!
Better Call Saul has a lot more of that kind of scenes, where character's thoughts and feelings are not spoon-fed to the audience, and instead conveyed through silent, dialogue-less scenes where characters are often just alone.

Once Gus decided to allow Walt to continue to cook, Victor couldn't be part of the operation anymore. Gus can't have one of his henchman thinking they can go rogue and get away with it. Gus exposed a weakness in himself and only Mike gets to live to see that. The rest was just for show.
Plus Victor exposed himself as a pro cook. Can't have that out there. See he's supposed to do his job and nothing more. Mike could have done that job for a decade and not learned to cook. He's real careful about knowing his role.
The way Gus' code works ... I primarily believe he killed Victor the way he did is because he went out of his lane and started to cook and wanted to show how ruthless he is to Walt. I always thought if he wanted to kill him just because of him being at the scene he'd have done it a different way and got Mike to do it.

Didnt MIke ask VIctor if he made himself seen at the scene? You cut it out here, but for me it was that what made Gus get rid of him. And when Gus came up and took on the clothes...I had no idea what was going to happen...certainly did not expect Victors death...some other crazy stuff but not this. LIke I wrote a few times already: This is the best show ever and I am wating until you admit it too hehe. At last "Ozymandias" will seal the deal for sure. :)

Not only was Gus getting rid of a liability, he was sending a message to Walt and Jesse. He was basically saying "You two are worth absolutely nothing but pawns to me. Remember that I have all of the power and you have none. Know your place."

I noticed how Walter said I would kill him again as if he did it he took the blame for the kill of Gale so he wouldn't think Jesse did it because that would be too easy for Gus to just kill Jesse. I think it was more because Victor let himself get seen by people and also because he was cooking without being told he could maybe
The creators actually confirmed Gale was indeed dead shortly after 3x13 originally aired, as they did not intend for that detail to be any kind of a cliffhanger or a mystery at all, just a simple camera movement for his pov in his final moments.
Since it did spawn an unintentional confusion with some viewers, they just clarified it publicly.
Personally I'm always surprised that it could be viewed otherwise, that thought never even crossed my mind in my first viewing. But hey, guess you're not alone.
He definitely killed Victor because he was seen at the crime scene, later in this episode or maybe it’s a different episode you see the news and they have a sketch drawing of Victor looking for him but of course Gus had already killed him.
Depending on how you look at it, Gus should've had Jessie deleted right after he found out what Jessie was planning to do to the other drug dealers...maybe walt to😃

Gale is not a good person however many ways you want to spin it, bottom line is he makes Meth.
He may not distribute it, but at the end of the day Meth destroys thousands of lives, family and friends.
The writing is so well done they can make you empathize with a character like him, sometimes even Walt and he really evolves into the most evil S.O.B in the show lol
I agree on one part though, Gale did not deserve to die, especially in that way.
At worst, he should've gotten a prison sentence, but this is Breaking Bad 🔥😎

Many people are saying that victor was killed because he was scene at the crime scene, but i find that doubtful. How would gus even know?
I always thought that it has more to do with, not just intimidation, but sending a message: "I don't believe you know who you are working with." It doesnt matter how much gus "needs" them or how "loyal" they are - he WILL kill them. At the same time, its almost an underlying show of good faith saying: "There. Happy? You're the only chemists now... Well, get to work."
Mike asks Victor if he was seen, and then you can hear Mike on the phone (with Gus) and he says he was seen

Well also that and Victor had allowed his face to be seen by the residents so the feds could identify and were tracking him, so Gus had to wrap up that loose end.

Well, already plenty of comments that pretty much say stuff i would've said haha
Be ready, this season is special. A couple of 'buildup' episodes I'd say, but they are necessary, because it all leads to something special - not only in this season 🙃 but yeah, second half of the season is crazy and it contains 2 episodes which are easily in my....lets say top 8 episodes of the entire show.

He killed Victor because he started cooking without permission from Gus. That action alone mocked Gus's authority. Victor was also seen at the crime scene. (He had to kill the loose end) Gus killed him to make a point. The point was to let them know, to not try and run things on their own cause HE is the boss and HE should be feared.
The whole time, Walter was trying to talk Gus into following his way. But Gus struck fear into Walter to remind him who is boss. He couldn't kill Jesse or Walter. So he killed Victor for all of their mistakes.
gus killed victor because he was trying to cook a batch when it wasnt his place because he doesnt know what hes doing but mainly because victor was seen at the murder scene

I always thought he killed Victor out of pure frustration. He couldn't kill Jesse or Walt and Mike is way too valuable; way more than Victor. But him being at the crime scene could've been his motive too.
