I think Gus might have killed Victor because Victor was careless and allowed himself to be seen at Gale’s apartment by witnesses. The other message I get from Gus killing Victor (and specifically the way he did it) is, “You don’t know me. You don’t know what I’m capable of. And we’re done negotiating.” Walter was yammering on and on, as if he was on the same level as Gus, as if Gus were someone to be reasoned with or persuaded. Gus made it clear Walt’s words are worthless.
great insights 🙌
Also victor cooking was a huge no no considering Gus is super careful about who he hires to cook.
well written.
20:19 “The red floor has new meaning.” Oh, you have NO IDEA…,
Fun Fact: Mike reflexively raising his gun at Gus when Gus suddenly slit Victor’s throat was an impromptu ad-lib by Mike’s actor Johnathan Banks, and Showrunner & director of this episode Vince Gilligan was initially not thrilled about it, as it seemed to make no sense that he would point a gun at his boss, but unfortunately a second take was out of the question due to all the elaborate makeup & special effects setup work that went into the shot of Gus seemingly slicing open Victor’s neck and the torrent of stage blood pouring out, so he thought “Well, I’ll just have to cut around it in editing as much as possible”. But once he watched the replay, he realized it worked perfectly in conveying how even Mike was shocked at Gus’s brazen move, and wound up including As much of Mike’s reaction as he could.
Wow. I never knew that, thanks for sharing. Where did you find this out?
@@user-kj4cz4ui8z I think it was a commentary track for this episode on the DVD
to the red floor comment.. i had this exact thought heheh
I think Gus had three motivations in killing Victor. First, Victor was seen and if apprehended could tie Gus to Gale and thus to the meth operation. Second, Gus was extremely angry that Walt outplayed him. Since he couldn't kill Walt he could take his anger out on Victor. Lastly, killing Victor in such a visceral way right in front of them demonstrates to Walt' and Jesse the depth of his resolve and willingness to get his hands dirty, if necessary. Up to this point, we never see Gus act violently. By doing it himself instead of having Mike do it adds a new layer of fear and sends a clear message.
Agree with all of that, but I'll also add another factor in that Victor took it upon himself to start cooking without clearing it with Gus first. A little too independent in a situation where he could have potentially screwed up a million dollar batch.
@@craigmanning7873 Possibly
Spot on.
This was actually the first episode of breaking bad I ever saw. I was so confused and then started the show from the beginning and now I'm addicted and have watched over 5 times by now
Definitely El Camino next, then Better Call Saul. El Camino provides a good break between the two shows.
Also Gus killing Victor has many potential reasons. He was seen at the crime scene, it sends a pretty clear message to Walt and Jesse, punishment for not stopping Gale from being murdered. Perhaps it was even because Victor took it upon himself to cook the product without Gus' go ahead.
The intended order was BB, El C, BCS .. but most important to watch BB first like you have done
I'm not necessarily sure BB before BCS is needed. Of course certain throwback scenes, easter eggs and the Gus introduction in BB/mystery is better in that order but i would imagine starting off with BCS would be quite a ride finishing off with BB and El C.
@@rednaskela4830 I've seen other videos explore this. I've watched them all so many times, but - the thing about BCS is ... the flashbacks/flash forwards, and the final season gives SO much of BB away [no spoilers], that I think it would ruin it to watch BCS first. I think it's definitely best viewed in that order, BB > El Camino > BCS.
Very rarely is there good justification to watch things outside the order of release as a first-time experience.
@@jwcyrus81 @rednaskela4830 Off-handedly I've wondered if you could sort of watch them simultaneously, e.g. alternate 1 to 1, or watch a few eps of one, then a few eps of the other, etc. It sort of reverses some surprise cameos. E.g. as they aired, the character that appears in BCS ep 1 was a cool surprise for BB watchers, but if watched in reverse they could become a cool surprise for BCS watchers when they show up in BB. Of course once Saul shows up in BB they find out what Saul becomes, but if they know that going in, it's not much of a spoiler. Otherwise, off the top of my head, I can't think of much in BCS that really spoils BB until you get to the end, by which point the viewer would have watched most of BB already. If anything, BB spoils BCS by revealing that certain characters stay alive.
Not that I recommend doing this! 😆
@@jlilley73 hmm. Yeah - (no spoilers) but there’s just so many flashbacks and flash forwards in BCS that likely wouldn’t make sense, or completely ruin, BB and El Camino though.
You broke the rules. You were supposed to wait a year between seasons! 😂
Assuming Jesse and Walt were wearing generic Walmart clothes with the tags on because they were in their normal clothes in the lab when cleaning up victor. So either they bought it or Mike bought them new clothes to make sure there was no blood or other evidence on them. kinda funny to see Walt holding his pants up while walking down the street because they dont fit well enough.
Gus killed Victor because he did not submit his application to cook through the company website.
19:29 - Because Victor went charging into an active crime scene with a ton of bystanders. He let himself be identified by the occupants of Gale's apartment complex. That is THE FASTEST WAY to get killed in Organized Crime.
Victor made himself a non-essential Liability. Whereas Walt made himself an essential Asset.
El Camino and THEN Better Call Saul.
RIP anyone who watched this with headphones 😅
14:45 What I like most about react channels in general is the bodylanguage. You can see how both Eric and Kailyn go from excited to the coming drama, to being so uncomfortable with the buildup in this scene, all in a couple of seconds
You should watch El Camino in-between Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul
Wouldn't that spoil the end of season 5??
@@dreamhayzeeffect4888I think he means like after they finish Breaking Bad, and just before they start watching Better Call Saul
18:34 - This was well worth the wait!!!! I have to admit I just fast forwarded to this scene - LOL!!!! You reactions did not disappoint. 🙂
glad you found them satisfying hahaha
The blood to ketchup transition was the best ever!
Better Call Saul is both prequel AND sequel!
🗑
I think I recall hearing a story from Bob Odenkirk (the actor who plays Saul Goodman), saying that he had a scheduling conflict, and he was supposed to be the character helping out Jesse when Jane died, not Mike. The show runners had to make a script change, last minute, and either invented Mike, or introduced Mike's character into the story earlier than planned. This might be why his name wasn't dropped earlier.
Rest in Peace all headphone users
Ha! This was great! I loved that Eric screamed when it happened, lol. Whoever edited this also did a great job! Normally when people blur the gorey parts they end up blurring Mike, Jesse and Walt's reaction to Victor's death but this was perfect.
This is one of those moments Ive been waiting for since day 1 with you guys! LOL!
I second doing El Camino next, and going into better call Saul
When Mike was originally introduced, he was not meant to stick around. the only reason Mike went to Jesse's house when jane died was because Saul's actor was busy with another job and could not be on set to film. Vince Gilligan liked the acting and character so much they brought him back to the show as a semi regular character. im assuming they got to the end of season 3 and were like "damn, we havent even given this dude a name yet!" so they just kinda dropped it so we knew it.
12:30 crystals
12:34 crystals
12:40 rock
13:07 rock
13:10 mineral
13:11 minerals
13:12 minerals
lol
in my eyes the killing of Victor was Gus's way of saying that he is totally mad but nevertheless accepts his defeat at this point.
12:30 "Of course SHE does" famous last words.
HAHAHA
Man, I feel like you two JUST started the series! So excited to hear all your upcoming commentary on the 4th season. It's a big one!!!
El Camino is next then Better Call Saul
I waited a year back then and me and my friends speculated 100 things lol
Man that diner scene is so Pulp Fiction, there are tons of references in the show (Mia/Jane and the OD, hosing down in the garden, Mike's first scene/thr wolf, Walt selecting weapons to kill Crazy 8 with) but thats my favourite
18:35 THIS IS A TEST OF THE EMERGENCY BROADCAST SYSTEM
OMGoodness the way y'all screamed!! Lol
You guys should def watch El Camino next and then Better Call Saul after that. You two are in for an incredible journey. One I wish so badly I could experience again for the first time. The next best thing is watching others such as you two experience it for the first time 😅
It was because Mike told him that Victor was seen and he probably didn't like him trying to cook and to send them a message but even Mike didn't know Gus was going to kill him like that
I live in Abq. The Denny's is 2 miles from me, on Central across from UNM. It's not there anymore. 😞
“A rock collector “ 😂
Yup when watching this on AMC via cable TV we had to wait a year between seasons, it was agonizing.
The best order is Breaking Bad- El Camino- Better Call Saul imo
With regards to the clothes situation in the end, the commentary on this episode which is available on youtube said that Walt and Jesse after serving detention in the meth lab courtesy of Principal Gus Fring needed new outfits from all the ketchup arts and crafts activities. Mike went out to get them clothes but not liking Walt and Jesse very much he went to the nearest store to quote "get the first fucking outfit he could get". This explains why the clothing looks few sizes too big on Walt in the end.
While Gus might use Victor being seen at the crime scene as an excuse, even to himself, I think the reality is that Gus was super pissed and really wanted to kill someone but Walter, Jessie and Mike were not options. So, Victor was the only only option.
12:37 Minerals, THEY'RE MINERALS 😂
I never saw a dude have a reaction that mirrors his wife in dramatic fashion as this.
You watch El Camino after because it picks up where Breaking bad leaves off at and Better call Saul is the prequel to Breaking bad and Saul's Journey how he got involved with the cartel and how he met Mike who became his P.I and how he ended up being a lawyer for so many of them.
Mike went out and got Walt and Jesse a change of clothes because there old ones had Victors blood on it and went looking for the most embarrassing clothes he could find.
Vince Gilligan personally bought the shirts on a roadtrip years before BrBa, because of how ridiculous they are.
i love rewatching the Gus performance now that Giancarlo is the top fan casting for Professor X in the new X-Men movies.
16:45 Yes! "stereospecific" all the way!!
Gotta watch El Camino for closure before heading into BCS
24:49 you guys look absolutely traumatized 🤣
yes 😬😬
When you finish BB I wish you would watch the TV series Fargo. it's based on the movie Fargo and has crimes murderers and incidents of high strangeness in it, but has a lot of dark humor to balance it too. The stories are very interesting, it has 5 seasons.
FYI: Your playlist on TH-cam is backwards. So, the "Play All" function does not work. When you play Season 4 Episode #1, the playlist terminates at the end of episode #1. When you play episode #2, at the end of the episode, episode #1 starts et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
2:11 - Watch El Camino after Breaking Bad. Without a doubt. Then Better Call Saul.
18:33
That is all!
Everyone seems to have answered your question and I agree. Gus killed Victor because he charged into the apartment as if he personally knew Gale which will make those who saw him tell the police to talk to Victor which can potentially turn him into a snitch. As you know Gus is VERY CAREFUL and he wants no weak points no lose ends. Him deciding to cook I saw it as a damn I fked up because you can tell when Mike asked him did anyone see you he hesitated and didnt want to answer so he’s like let me show Gus I’m so loyal I can cook too. Gus made up his mind to kill Victor long before he entered the lab, he wanted to show Walter that he’s done and it can happen at any time but yeah I do need you for now. Lastly He told Walter never make the same mistake twice when he tried to convince him that Jesse had to go whether it was death or being fired and never coming near them again but Walter chose to once again protect Jesse which told Gus I can’t control this man or give him advice when all I have been doing is treating him excellent.
Watch El Camino after and then BCS
How has noticing colors changed the experience for you?
I think El Camino is next!
16:53 That was damn impressive!
20:06 That is probably part of the message Gus is sending to Walt. I m going to kill you indirectly without doing anything to you.
if Victor was NOT seen i'm pretty sure Gus would have offed both Walt and Jesse. You could see that Victor knew what he was doing. and even walt seemed shocked that he knew. Also Victor has been with Gus for alot longer than walt, and Jesse has.
I always thought Gus killed Victor because he felt it was very disrespectful of him to be in the lab, cooking with a grin on his face. I think Gus truly cared for Gale and put a lot of time and resources into him. Victor had 1 job, get rid of Walter, he failed and let Gale be killed instead. When he shows up to the Lab he sees Victor cooking and it's almost as if Victor was saying Gale wasn't important, because he could do it just as good as he could. Everything Victor was trying to prove in regards to Jesse and Walt he was basically saying the same about Gale too unintentionally. I think it rubbed Gus the wrong way. There's another layer, but that info would be a spoiler... I don't know if Gus would have killed Victor if he wasn't in there cooking. Him being seen and failing to kill Walt was just the icing on the cake.
Breaking Bad, El Camino, then Better Call Saul. dont listen to anyone that says otherwise. this is the correct order.
you could do better call saul or el camino after.. they finish off at basically the right place :) but if you REEEEALLY want some breaking bad backstories then Better Call Saul is your go to :)
The best back stories are in the animated series Slippin Jimmy
@@VaeluX 😂😂😂😂😂😂
this is the best season in my opinion.
Guys, your Season 4 playlist is backwards. So unlike your playlists for previous seasons, it starts with the Season 4 finale and goes towards to premiere. I don't know a way to reverse it myself but it should be a short-ish task for you. Can you reverse the order please?
I don't know what choice did they have. Go to the police? Against Gus's drug empire? Or not to kill Gale and get killed in the night or in some other time? Still sad that Gale is dead btw
El Camino before better call saul
El Camino, then Better Call Saul
Definitely watch El Camino immediately after Breaking Bad, then start BCS. That’s the intended order.
Hi! You should watch El Camino before Better Call Saul. The movie is an epilogue to the BrBa, ans Saul Goodman series complete the whole story
Watch El Camino next and then Better Call Saul
I don't think the order will matter all that much, but I would recommend following the release order: Breaking Bad, then El Camino, and then Better Call Saul.
Better Call Saul started before El Camino..
Victor was responsible for gales safty
Buckle up, guys.
Amazing reaction 👍 the way i see it is gus killed victor for two simple reasons 1 yeah he was seen at the crime scene but also the number 2 reason is to say you wanted the job fine you got it , other wise walt would of plot to kill victor later , so that way gus settled it there like ok walt its only you who can cook but now i own you
you should definitely watch el camino before you start better call saul. el camino is pretty much like an extra episode of breaking bad continuing with where the finale leaves off, and BCS is it’s own shown completely. both are great!
The creative mind never shuts down… Whether music or some other sort of art, the creative mind never really shuts down…. I suspect this is what makes Kailyn a yawny yawnerton…
Uuummmmmmm it's minerals!!!!
Not a huge fan of the big gnarly gross out but man oh man, it was totally worth it just to get that spectacular, spontaneous reaction!! Thanks for being on top of the audio as well, so that it didn't take our ears off at that part!!!! An ignominious end to a character nobody particularly likes......but still! I feel sorry for the dude!
Minerals, not Rocks!
Definitely El Camino first and then Better Call Saul (and anyone who really loves Breaking Bad really has to watch Better Call Saul). El Camino starts literally the same night as the Breaking Bad finale. Better Call Saul starts in another part of the timeline; it really has its own style and tone, very different from Breaking Bad but arguably *better* (!)
CHEEKS!!!
watch el camino and then BCS
My ears!!!
What does he mean "I can't with this show "...????... does he mean he's tired of it? Or does he mean a ribeye medium well, on a tropical beach while the female college team tries out for gymnastics in the background?.... sorry, I'm a lil confused!...TEAM WALT!!!
I'll prefer al Camino first. It plays direkt after breaking bad like an extra
Hey Kailyn + Eric
Exodus 20:7
🤨
I see you struggling to figure out the resolution, but just like the rest of the series you really can never know what is coming 3 or 4 shows ahead. You guys are sharp, and the show is an excelent example of top quality writing. You will not be able to work out the resolution.
funny watching this back and youre right. when this came out most people probably didnt know who Pfizer was. now most people at least know the word and what they do.
In my opinion - please watch El Camino after Breaking Bad but before Better Call Saul. You'll understand what I am saying when you finish Breaking Bad.
Next time a warning for the headhphone viewers...🙃
El Camino first.
Hey guys, please give us a headphone warning next time
you guys should react to the bear! i recently started it and im about to finish season 2. season 3 is gonna air in june and it was just renewed for a s4 which is being filmed back to back after s3
Go ahead and watch El Camino before Better Call Saul. El Camino wraps up Breaking Bad, and really has nothing to do with Better Call Saul.
Wild is right. It it continues to accelerate
Better call saul first i would say
Jesse and his stupidity caused all of this when he decided to get high and try to kill those guys after being given a 2nd change by Gus, then Walt had to save him, again. Just like when he brought Hank to the RV in the junkyard, was beaten by Hank and blamed and blackmailed Walt forcing him to fire Gale and bring Jesse into the business. So annoying when he messes up then keeps crying like a baby for the consequences of his own actions and someone has to clean up after him.
ahhhh true........
Nahh, dude. First, Jesse didn't intend for Walter to save him. The guys did something horrible to someone close to him and he was goinf to start a gun fight even if he died from it. He never wanted to be saved.
Second, the junkyard was absolutely Walt's fault. Jesse was chilling and Hank was finding out more about the RV, and when Walter caught up to Hank's findings, he didn't warn Jesse and decided to took things on his own hands, making Jesse protective over the RV.
[SPOILER FOR LAST SEASON]
This is later mirrored in season 5 with Jesse's plan to bring Walter to the money. Same thing, only this time the one getting protective was Walt, and the other two parties worked together
@@sadgreent5138 I get where you're coming from, but even if Jesse didn't intend for Walt to save him, he was told not to do it but did it anyways and what he did triggered that whole situation. Jesse went rogue and made a move against his bosses and the "business" and caused everything to go south. That's a fact. Contrary to what a lot of ppl say, Walt does care about Jesse and it's not the first time he intervened to save him. With Tuco... when he talked to Gus about Jesse's intentions and Gus gave Jesse a 2nd chance because of Walt...
It was a reckless, useless and stupid revenge that would not do any good and could cause lots of trouble for himself, Walt, Gus and their "business". Gus was extremely reasonable with Jesse out of the respect he had for Walt, and clearly told Jesse that he could come to Gus for these matters instead of taking into his own hands. Jesse should have talked to Gus after they killed Thomas... But most of the time Jesse doesn't think... he acts on emotion and stupidity and later cries for his own mess ups.
Regarding the RV, Walt had to act fast, he tried to warn Jesse but didnt know if the phone was bugged, and just had to fix the situation. Jesse didn't think, was reckless and didn't see he was being followed. Also, the business was 50/50 but imo, technically the RV belonged to Walt. Walt gave Jesse all his savings to buy it(which Jesse being stupid as he is, spent on a party and almost wouldn't get it if it wasn't for Combo). Jesse didn't pay anything for the RV.
Girl did we not have this talk about your nails. Get them done
eric here. going to start routinely deleting these comments - just a heads up. they are getting annoying
El Camino last for sure after BCS
Why last? Chronologically, that doesn't make sense.
