    That donut ayam you mean is actually Kue Soes (Sus in Bahasa), which is choux pastry of French origin, but it came to Indonesia via the Dutch during colonial time. Vla is also the Dutch version of custard cream, hence the name Kue Sus isi Vla.

    • @tarno_bejo_
      @tarno_bejo_ ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, the french has invaded the dutch afterall. Some even say, those so-called dutch building in all over the country actually have french design.

      I think someone accidentally put the choux pastry in the place where "donut ayam" should be put =D

    In south east Asian desserts, coconut milk and grated coconut are very often combined with a little salt to prevent spoilage and also to emphasise the richness of the coconut, and add a slightly salty counterpoint to the sweetness, like is done with salted caramel, in the west. We really like the salty-sweet balance in our Asian desserts.

    • @denisefletcher1608
      @denisefletcher1608 ปีที่แล้ว

      @tiller456 thanks for sharing, but what is your point and how does it relate to my comment? I was talking very generally about why coconut-based desserts in SE Asia are often salty-sweet, and was not discussing food history or origins or claiming any sort of food provenance for my country. What was the need for you to very specifically state that grated coconut was used in Indonesia, for centuries, far ahead of other SE Asian countries? And, I'm curious, when you say "last few years", exactly how many years do you mean? Three years? Five years? Ten years? Twenty years is already pushing it too far, if we're talking about the "last few years".

    Seperti orang Indonesia yang makanan -makanan negara lain , ada enak dan Juga tidak enak... Selera lidah orang Indonesia rempah-rempah, asin , manis, gurih - gurih pedas... 🤗 Hal terpenting lidah orang Indonesia tidak menilai dari tekstur dari sebuah makanan, tetapi rasanya yang dinilai.

    14:10 Wajik is a sticky rice that cook with Gula Jawa or Gula Aren, that's why it has a sweet flavor. And i believe in some country we cook that with Pandan Leaf to made it more flavor. That is one of my favourite.

    One thing I noticed from your videos is that you n your western friends often say weird for all foods that look different to you.
    I'm an Indonesian with a little bit Japanese ancestry, and every time I try culinary or snacks from other countries, especially western countries (a lot of western food is gross in my opinion), even though it looks different to me, I won't say weird. I don't know why, I don't really like that word.
    But anyway.. tomorrow August 17th is Independence day of Indonesia. We gonna celebrate our 77 years of freedom. I think nothing wrong (even it would be nice) if you can make a video about it. Maybe about the traditional competition there.
    Cheers! 🍻

      as an Indo I totally agree with you, but as an Indo leaving in Germany the culture is totally different here. It's normal to say their truth honest opinion and saying weird if they think so it's totally normal and saying nothing or otherwise (like saying it's good even thought it's weird or gross) is kinda disrespectful here in German.

    • @christafiorentina
      @christafiorentina ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RagnarokFLyTuT hallo there :)
      Ya.. well actually I know about that. I know some Dutchies, and they are so blunt. But I know they did their best to be not so blunt when they talk to Indonesian.
      I grew up in a family with various cultures (Batak, Japanese, and Javanese) so I can see many things about the culture / habits, some habits are so good, but there are things that I don't think are necessary to implement especially when we are abroad.
      I find most of Indonesians are quite sensitive emotionally, I think there is nothing wrong if western people try to adjust to it while they are in Indonesia.
      But yeah.. I'm also just being honest about this video. :)

    Well, you know indonesian is more experimental with their food 😅
    that wajik made from aticky rice that cook with coconut milk, pandan leaf and palm sugar
    Shredded coconut in putu ayu usually that 'salty' to balance the sweetness in the dough
    And about the bread and doughnut, if i guess correctly, they're from the same dough. That's why even the filling either sweet or savory, the dough still sweet
    (imo) better banana bread than bread with banana inside

    Kebanyakan jajanan pasar Indonesia menggunakan tepung tapioka, tepung beras, dan tepung ketan. Itu yang membuat teksturnya menjadi kenyal seperti jelly.
