Welcome to Jogja❤. Yogyakarta is the one and only Province that still implements a kingdom/monarchy system in Indonesia. Bcoz you guys from Netherlands, your King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima had already visited to Jogja around 3 years ago and meet with King and Queen of Jogja. Like in your video, you would be surprise that some of Jogja people could speak dutch. For the next trip probably you can visit the palace of Jogja. Enjoy Jogja ❤

Jogjakarta is very popular with food....If you are in this city... several most popular food:
Ayam Goreng TOJOYO 3 (Urip Sumoharjo street)
Ayam Goreng Suharti (Laksda Adisucipto Street)
Bakmi Pak Pele (near Sultanate Palace)
    Lumpia (egg-roll) Samijaya (Malioboro Street).
    Soto Kadipiro
Sego pecel SGPC Bu Wiryo 1959
    Pecel Lele (Cat-fish) (Street food)
If you want to try Jogja traditional food: Jadah Tempe, Lupis (by Mbah Satinem), Gatot, Tiwul, Kue Putu, etc , you can find it inside TERAS Malioboro (a new place for street vendors who used to sell along the Malioboro area), inside Beringharjo Market(Pasar Beringhardjo), and at other streets.

    • @RechtvaarBoetewaard

Don't generalize that all Javanese food is sweet. I'm from Ngapak, here the food is not as sweet as in Jogja, whereas in East Java it's more spicy and savory.
The thing that makes the food in Jogja sweet is because there were many factories and sugar cane plantations in the colonial era.

Hello Susan and Janine! Glad to see your videos again. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. Anyway… do you guys have any plans to try exploring Kalimantan maybe someday? There are several interesting spots there that you can visit, such as the Lok Baintan Floating Market in Banjarmasin and doing bamboo rafting in Loksado (South Kalimantan), Tanjung Puting National Park (Central Kalimantan) which is the world's largest sanctuary for the Orangutan species, Maratua Island which is Indonesia's Maldives (in Derawan, East Kalimantan), and others. As a reference, I suggest you to checking out Kristian Hansen's channel about his adventures in Kalimantan for approximately 8 months, it's extraordinary. Also check out his latest adventure in Makassar and Maros when he visited Rammang-rammang and explored one of the caves that has the oldest paintings in the world there. Believe me you will be amazed! Maybe this could be a good recommendation for your next adventure in Indonesia.
Warm greetings and good luck girls!

The 2 main popular streets in jogjakarta: Malioboro street & Urip Sumoharjo street.... If you stay in hotels near or behind Galeria Mall (in front of Bethesda Hospital) ; it is a strategic location... you will get everything easily for your needs. 😀

It's nice you get to see Jogjakarta, definitely you must go to Prabanan and Borobudur temples, they were built before the Hindu and Muslim cultures came. They are Buddhist Temples. Borobudur was covered in ash from the volcano's and was found by a Dutch military man. They proceeded to clean it and reconstruct it to make it look as you see it today. With a lot of labor from the local people. That probably were not payed very well!
