I worked at the Excel Centre with the Olympic Games so this walk brings back memories. They were building the cable cars at that time! I did walk across that footbridge a number of times!
How exciting to have worked there for the Olympics and I'm glad I could bring some memories of that time. There are rather a lot of stairs up and down that footbridge! Angela
Hello from Bellevue in Washington State USA. A suburb of greater Seattle. Mum and I are here for a few days and likely will come back down for a second multi day visit during our time over here. We crossed the border at 6 am On Thursday with minimal waits...having woken up at 3:15 am to get ready. Really happy to see you post this video Angela, since Mum and I are frequent visitors to London Excel for various trade shows throughout the year. Of course this latest video very nicely compliments your previous videos of your Greenwich walkabout and the one of your cable car ride. It's really quite something to see such a familiar area in your video whilst we are here in North America. I really chuckled when you asked if any of us are familiar with London Excel, given how many times mum and i visit. Funny also that the Ibis Hotel is almost as if it's been named after me. My nick name is actually Ibby, so Ibby's Hotel sounds identical to Ibis Hotel. Maybe I should go in there and say I'm the CEO. Anyhow we will watch this soon and comment after. Thank you hugely for this Angela. Ibrahim & Mum in Bellevue WA, USA.
Ooohh, I feel Frasier jealousy incoming if you're in Seattle:) And my, that's an early start! And yes, why not walk in to an Ibis and say 'Ahem, 'tis I, the boss'... you never know;)
Hello Angela Love the walk. We have not been to Victoria docks and Excel centre. We did know that the boat was a hotel as we looked at staying there. We have booked our trip we will be in London in late June. Thanks for the walk. Take care Chris and Sandra of Canada.
Thank you Chris and Sandra, glad you liked the walk. I think if you're not going to the ExCel, then the boat hotel is rather out of the way for the rest of London. Not long until June - it's already March next week:) Angela
I really enjoyed this video Angela, nice to see an area of London that I'm not really familiar with. My son lived in a flat in Stratford for a short time some years ago but I didn't manage to visit him whilst he was there. I am now going to watch the video which seems to be listed just before this one, I'm so behind! BTW, I always say that I much prefer going upstairs to going down too, though I'm bothered with both atm (long story 😔) xx
Well, the problem is, once you reach a certain age, it's trouble and a long story for everything! I would be uploading twice a week if I were not plagued by a long list of this and thats 😮 Glad you enjoyed the walk, the rate of change around that part of London is incredible. All the best, Angela
@@ChattyWalkswithAngela Isn't that the truth?! Then, four weeks ago today, I was involved in a car accident, so currently I have even more pain and discomfort to deal with. I'm just home again from a physio appointment, painkillers and heat packs/hot water bottle needed now! Keep going Angela, I can't wait to go for a walk again 😘xx
@deborahsmith2583 Oh no, I am SO sorry to hear that, I hope it hasn't been too traumatic for you. Keep going with the physio, it generally works, although continuing with it after you've finished your sessions is another matter 😉 Keep the faith too while things are very trying. Re: my walks, I may switch to livestreaming for a number of videos while I get on top of other stuff going on. Good luck with the recovery, Angela

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela And as I leave the hotel, "Ibby has left the building". Or how about "Goodnight London Excel, we love you".
