That tree is under investigation for that acorn incident. Warrant pending.
If cops don't want to be given the middle finger, they should stop acting foul towards the public.
What an immature stance. What about the videos where the non-deserving cops get the middle finger?
Cops should not retaliate, but that doesnt mean citizens get a free pass for being @55holes to authority.

Whats stupid is cops illegally detaining people they don't know because their ego is fragile
I was a cop for almost 10 years and I've never heard of being able to arrest someone for failing to signal a lane change. That cop is absolutely ridiculous for arresting her. Especially when you can see she signaled in his bodycam footage.
Yes, I don't know why everyone in the comments seems to think she really didn't signal
No kidding.
I believe they are interpreting the law incorrectly in this video. Traffic violations are considered “infractions“ in Texas, and therefore are not crimes. All of the laws cited in this video specifically used the word “crime”, when referencing the ability for an officer to make an arrest.
@notagrom Exactly, same in Cali, they're not even misdemeanors, they're just infractions
@JaneCooper190072 exactly it's called " no criminal traffic" which by our statute is only a civil forfiture.
Shutting off or muting your body cam should be considered obstruction, destruction of evidence, and should be an immediate firing offense and chargeable crime.
It should be yeah at anytime they can abuse their authority
Now that you mention that you're right that is obstruction
Absolutely 👍🏿
If a cop turns off their body cam all charges should immediately be dismissed.
Officer should be fired
Imagine if you were at work and unplugged the security camera
@@mobrocketYou'd be told the security camera is for the security of the business too and not your safety. 😂
In Europe, deleting evidence is a crime, not sure what you guys are smoking.

@@ThatGuy-vi8ch
Which makes sense right???
The security of the product...
Body cam footage is the same thing. It's to help protect the public... Not the cops
Muting or turning off body cameras should be considered conspiracy to commit a felony!
They are allowed to mute while they talk strategy. I forget why.
But, this isn’t the cop’s fault. They are supposed to mute, or the FOIA release would be muted later.
@@toribarron5700 I don't mind being muted after to protect some privacy, but the officer shouldn't get to choose what is recorded. In a perfect world they shouldn't be concerned about what is said because their actions should be honest in all circumstances. It's conspiracy. Police should be like robots, functioning with clear intent and unwavering commitment to excellence. Literally, every time it is done it is deprivation of rights or fraud. Cops have a type of authority which could still retain discretion in most cases but as an arm of the judicial system shouldn't conceal even those moments from the citizens.
I dont know how to be more compelling than to emphasize just how wrong it is.
@@gmgunner I agree for the most part. I just see folks make that same comment on so many videos and AFAIK, cops are supposed to mute at certain times. So it is hard for me to be upset at them for following procedure.
I agree, the procedure itself is fishy. Audio could be muted later for FOIA requests and it would be good to have uncensored video for all parties when things go wrong.
It is clearly tampering with evidence.
@@toribarron5700 That's completely untrue. Every public record is subject to FOIA, and the exceptions don't read like, "Uh we think it makes us look bad." Sure, pigs and their keepers TRY this stuff, but it never works. All body cam footage is a public record. Taking steps to keep the record from reaching the public, via muting and such, is at a minimum a violation of their policy, and in some states a crime of conspiracy.
Cops SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO TURN OFF THEIR BODY CAMS!!!!!! It completely defeats the purpose
The fact that TEXAS law permits a LEO to ARREST someone for a traffic violation tells me to avoid TX.
Lots of these videos seem to come from Texas
I don’t think they are interpreting the law correctly here. Failing to signal is not a crime. It’s an infraction.
Well the so called "good officer" proved himself a typical bad cop by lecturing her at the end.
Yeah, it actually only proved to protect the department from the lawsuit they would have probably had
Truth
And taking the reproach off cam.
Police love to Copsplain
"Less bad officer"???
His wanting to arrest her makes it very clear she is right to fear him.
Mhmm
She should get a restraining order against all these cops for their continued harassment and stalking.
His actions, and those aiding and abetting him, make me fear for how he might treat his family behind closed doors
@@wingatebarraclough3553 lol
What was he going to do to her once she was in custody?
She should retain legal counsel and push to have this man removed from his position. He doesn't deserve to be a police officer.
He clearly knew who she was and this wasn’t the first time he’d acted like this with her.
True,very true
I agree it's abuse of power
The cop blaming the lady is absolutely absurd! Why can't cops just follow the laws and stop abusing people!?!?!
Sure the "good cop" told the disgrace of a cop to let the woman go to avoid a lawsuit, but the "good cop" still felt the need to gaslight the woman as if she caused this situation.
Exactly. I've been a victim of many violent crime and the reporting Lolice are always indifferent, frustrated to be there, investigate a way to arrest me instead of taking my report as victim and almost always responding "that doesn't make sense" to every question they ask me.
Exactly. He's their best and he's still trash.
Ikr, how low are our standards for police behavior?
They act like domestic abusers EVERY VIDEO. They blame the victim every time no matter how innocent.
Cops would tazer the Pope feeding the homeless and tell him he shouldn't have been moving that fast and his robes could have been hiding a weapon.
Plus the gang mentality of back every cop, no matter how criminal they are.
He also told the “bad cop” to turn off his camera. Absolutely no integrity in my eyes. Protecting, in any way, “bad cops” makes you just as bad. The police system needs to change from “protect my fellow officers” to “protect my fellow offers ONLY WHEN THEY DESERVE IT.”
This is also a good reason why cops should not be allowed to mute their bodycam.
It should be illegal.
I can understand the audio being muted after the fact, if they are truly discussing something sensitive, but the cop on the scene shouldn't have the ability to mute their cameras.
And the cops really shouldn't decide it anyways, even after the fact. It'd become a meme just like the "we've investigated ourselves, and determined we did no wrong" has become.
it should be considered obstruction of justice when theyre obviously conspiring to ruin peoples lives
@@pharynx007maybe mute in the cases of minors, but everyone else should be recorded for their safety. If you’ve ever heard how cops talk when their mics are muted is definitely not professional. Common phrases are “how can we ruin this guys day” or “let’s f$*k him/her over”. At the very least, even more transparency is obviously needed due to the continued abuse of power that many officers continue show. An unmute law combined with the abolishing of qualified immunity would solve many problems
A cop interfering in any way with the function of their body cam should be fined or disciplined automatically, at this point. Unless it's the end of their shift or they're walking into a bathroom, there's zero excuse to shut it off. NOTHING a cop is doing during their shift should be incriminating, so there's zero excuse for them needing to have private conversations away from the eyes of their own auditors.
She literally didnt even turn the blinker off it was on the whole time
You can tell that cop wanted her alone in HIS car to take her in. I was freaking out watching this so can’t even imagine how frightened she was.
He would definitely have been very physical with her starting with putting the cuffs on as tight as he could.

Officers who turn off body cameras should be charged with destruction of evidence.
I hope she takes legal action because I live in this area and I would love to be on the jury
The fact that he knew her first and last name without any form of ID tells me this was retaliatory.
Absolutely. Not just because of her gesture as she drove by, but for their history. This cop physically abused this woman at a storage facility, alleging trespassing, etc. He retaliated then because she challenged him. I'm trying to find the video and link of that encounter.
No doubt!!
I mean even if he hadn't, the fact he mentioned the gesture to backup, and she admitted to it when he mentioned it, and then he chose to arrest over a traffic violation that frankly is common af says a lot. Texas and my state (GA) have similar laws regarding traffic infractions/violations. I've been caught speeding, that is considered a criminal offense in GA, only got a citation, and I was super speeding. State law may allow an arrest, no reasonable officer is gonna arrest solely over it though (barring like 20+ over with multiple violations that would become reckless driving). Plus he admitted he was treated her differently because she was who she was.
I was thinking the same thing!!
Yup, happened to my brother n I on the streets. He had a past case and was beefin with the corrupt dept. Alotta aryian brotherhood members were in there. My husband is a LEO and occasionally gets the finger for no reason---and he is a SRO and training officer in school shooting scenarios. He responds with ignoring them or giving them a thumbs up.
Right? A LEO should be used to responding to minor insults like this one with indifference and any reasonable adult should be able to make a distinction between a personal grudge and an abuse of power. LEO are human beings, but just like teachers, doctors, judges, etc. they have to be able to separate their personal feelings for an individual with the exercise of their profession. I've seen people acting in offensive manners against nurses and doctors and still they were given proper medical care, although I'm certain there are lots of cases were they aren't.
Body cameras shouldn't be able to be turned off. If they do they should be fired and lose their law enforcement license.

Right? You can see it briefly on the officer's bodycam near the beginning of this video too.(the dashcam version is much clearer though).

Excuse me it's nearly dark and you don't have your lights on, I'm gonna have to take you in. 😂
@@faytleingod1851 It's nearly dark and you didn't turn on your headlights when pulling out from the driveway. You are under arrest.
@@kousterx you have a air freshener hanging from your mirror obstructing your view, you're under arrest! 😂
@HotshotDan what kind of psycho puts an air freshener on a mirror? What air is it freshening?
Sorry sir but I just seen you breathe air, you’re under arrest
The fact that cops are still allowed to shut off the body cams is crazy
They are not, once they have turned it on for an interaction and they are suppose to turn it on for an interraction
@@LordOfSweden the fact that the punishment is not enforced means that it is "allowed"
@@danielblack8497 NOPE
@@LordOfSweden wow great argument! you really won me over
@@danielblack8497 I simply denied your claim.
You guys are the best. I love how you explain everything. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Its the fact that he admitted he had issues with her in the past that makes me believe he is a bad cop. This was payback and she should file a complaint on him.
This ABSOLUTELY needs to be fired immediately. He absolutely proved his ego is understandably extremely dangerous and is a ticking time bomb for a potential major lawsuit award. He proved that he is an absolute total worthless taxpayer liability.
absolutely
100% chance he'd be hiding outside your kids classroom while (sounds of children screaming has been removed)
The supervisor too.

You mean he's a good cop?
No reasonable person thinks this wasn't retaliatory.
My dumb brain skipped the n't in wasn't and I started to write an essay 🤣
Fascist bootlickers wouldn't see it. 😂
Doesn't matter what a reasonable person believes.
@@_soupnazi Actually, in the law it often does. There are many laws that include that "reasonable person" language.
But reason is also how we differentiate between different emotional points of view, and biases. So yeah reason is extremely valuable.
@@Quinn37 Ok we're not discussing contract law here. Criminal law has a higher standard of proof. Most reasonable people know that Trump intentionally tried to overturn the election with force, yet he is still a free man that has not spent one day in prison for his multiple crimes. It doesn't matter what a reasonable person believes, it has to be beyond a reasonable doubt.
"If officer Akers had done anything wrong he wouldn't be here right now" made me bust out laughing
Their was no "Good Cop" he let the woman go without being arrested. but he let the bogus traffic ticket stand. He also defended the "Bad Cop" and proceed to chew out the woman like she was a child.
The Sargent was just covering his own a22. If the traffic cop went ahead with this bogus arrest and the whole thing blew up in court and led to a civil lawsuit, it would come out that the Sargent was on the scene. He would essentially take the full blame then.
Are you suggesting that it is very adult to go around flipping people off who might have slighted you in the past? If you act like an infantile idiot, you will be treated like one.
😂😂😂 He wasn't there to witness the lane change, so how can he speak against that you 🔔end. 😅😅😅
@@mick9419don’t be naive, they always cover each other even when they know they’re wrong.
I think that's why "Good Cop" is in quotations. It's meant to be sarcastic.
The fact he said "flicks me off" instead of flip me off should be immediate grounds for expulsion from polite society.
some professions unfortunately attract low IQ psychopaths on power trips and this happens to be one of them
1000% agree!
😂 Points have been made
"Fliked me off"
...along with "completeing a traffic stop"
Right away with tears.
Nothing like being lectured about right and wrong by a criminal. Disgusting.
I swear watching and listening to that bs cooks me every time
That sergeant is not to be trusted at any level.
@@CanadianSmokeYou're out of your mind. All she did was gesture disrespect. His personal grievances didn't justify the arrest.
@@ChuckDanger What are you talking about? She was wrongly arrested for flipping the thin skinned chooch the bird and his sergeant ended releasing her with an admonishment... he knew the arrest was a blatant abuse of power and tried to mitigate it... not acceptable.
Right! It’s like the villain saying how dare you defeat me.
Cop should be fired for being a grown ass adult who doesn't know it's "flip off", not "flick off"
I was going to say this. I'm happy you said it first. It drives me crazy when someone says "flick off". You don't flick someone the bird. You flip them the bird.
It sounds like the second cop did it too.
😄 I guess they don't teach cops that in police academy.
Both are technically correct. Google 'flick off meaning slang' and see for yourself.
@@timpatrickhanna Both are technically correct. Google 'flick off meaning slang' and see for yourself.
@@sethaldrich6902 and flick off is also slang for masturbating by flicking a woman's clitoris.
Slang, by definition, is not "technically" correct. If it was technically correct it wouldn't be called slang. It would just be a word.
Texas needs to get it right. Failure to signal should never be an offense worthy of an arrest.
Arresting for a change signal failure is just pathetic
He tells her she needs to move on…. Odd he didn’t tell deputy dip sh!t to “move on”…..
Play field for his boy
SO....SCOTUS MADE THIS RULING 35 YEARS AGO AND COPS STILL IGNORE YOUR RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH.
And at the absolute most, the penalty for officers breaking the law and ruining a person's life, for speech, is a city payout. Which leaves you wondering, if this is a routine thing in America, do you even have rights? Seems to me they can circumvent every "right" you have, as often as they like, without penalty. Seems like the courts surreptitiously revoked the constitution LONG ago.
Ego and power of the man baby that takes this job to boost their pathetic self esteem
That’s what happens when there’s no consequences for violating the right to free speech. Officers can do what they want and hide behind their qualified immunity
scotus made a rule change that says cops don't need to serve you. The only serve the rich and their properties. Everything else is to bully and suppress the general public.
@@dishonoredundead There's no such thing as "rights". There are only privileges that can be revoked by the men holding the biggest guns on a whim.
He didn't even stop the arrest because it was wrong, it was "to not give her more ammo" for her lawsuit, smh
This cop is petty, vindictive 12 y.o. He's being issued gun, badge is a danger to community.
Exactly. Makes me wonder what other spiteful shenanigans he's done over the years. Unfortunately, the next person he comes in contact with will be on the receiving end of his misplaced aggression.
That supervisor also needs to be disciplined. He reminded me of the days when a cop would lecture a bruised and battered woman that if she didn’t want her husband to beat her, she should learn to be a better wife.
Exactly!
I had a cop tell me if I got a job, my bf wouldn't strangle me. They charged him with misdemeanor battery instead of felony strangling. He bailed out and came back to the apartment before I could even get a ride to go back to my parents. 14 years ago but it wouldn't surprise me at all if they still say it.
Never the less, he's got a point😂
@@CraigCampbell-lb9jv You think domestic violence is funny?? 🖕
True, maybe he was watching Pat Robinson from the ptl?
Leave it to Texas to make it lawful to arrest someone for failing to signal or other very minor particularly traffic infractions. Truly so ridiculous.
Completely retaliatory. This cop should be fired for dereliction of duty. THIS IS NOT WHY WE HIRE POLICE TO SERVE AND PROTECT!
He straight up said if you hadn't flicked him off!! How is that lecture not supposed to cool her from her protected speech?!?!?!
Just because something is technically a right doesn't make it a good idea. You fools need to get a grip seriously.
@@JustMe-fo4evI can smell the boot coming from your breath. Need a tic-tac?
@@JustMe-fo4ev
Why isn't it a good idea? Cause the pigs will retaliate against you if you do exercise your rights?
@@JustMe-fo4ev Found the boot licker [Back the Blue] lemming.
The reason its not a good idea is because these cops have the ability to arrest people on minor traffic violations whenever their feelings are hurt. Making an act of free speech a bad idea is itself a bad idea.@@JustMe-fo4ev
She needs to file a restraining order against him.
I once had a cop harrass me everytime he saw my car. So one night I am at a bar with other cops and the cop who keeps harassing me. Sat down and he said something crude so I got up and poured a pitcher of beer over his head..and he was going to hit me and the other cops stood up and protected me..after that he never bothered me again!!!! Sometimes it is nice to have cop friends!!!
Blaming her for his retaliation is ridiculous
The moment he turned off his body cam I knew he was gonna go on a power trip
Sgt. Scott saying if Akers had done wrong he would not be there is the result of "we investigated ourselves and determined nothing wrong happened".
I’d love to see the other video.
The Sargent was smart enough to know that a good lawyer would have torn his buddy apart by asking him how many times he had arrested people for the same " crime". This is a bad cop and needs his POC removed .
I wouldn’t mind an end of watch 😂
Yes remove his people of color!
@@pacmaninchains statements like this are exactly why officers, corrupt or not, approach situations with more trepidation than is necessary. @@MeestahJones keep carrying water.....
His People of colour? What exactly is POC in this contaxt?
There's something chilling about a cop doing this
In Texas "cops" are Peace Officers. The main goal to not only keep the peace, but when possible help the peace. The officer, as mature adult, had the opportunity to make peace with this lady. Making peace with her was far more a priority than failing to signal a lane change.
Oh God, the irony of the supervisor giving her the pigsplaining garbage... "Your hatred is getting you in trouble..." Dude, STFU. Those are the exact words you should be saying to Akers just before you fire his ass.
*It might be pigsplaining, but let all the adults admit that if she had not flipped him off, she would not have been stopped.*
Accountability is kryptonite for a woman.
