    Thanks for this video. Would you clarify what you said at 4:03 regarding obstruction? you state that. models within the terrain feature can shoot out but not be targeted back. Page 85 of the 2020 Chapter approved says that models on or within a terrain feature with obscuring “Can see and be seen normally”. I don’t see where in the rules models in an area terrain feature with obscuring can’t be seen and targeted by another unit. Thanks for your help.

      Oh yes !! Models on or within a terrain piece that is obscuring can be targeted normally! Missed that change, thanks for spotting so others will know that detail too, cheers

    Great video! I see you're going full Hulk Hogan for November. Awesome. :D I never remember to use terrain to my advantage. The game has too many rules already without them. :D

      Too right! I always forget to use them except line of sight blocking but often use true line of sight too getting down at board level to look 😅

    For ruins I wouldn't advocate using the base as its footprint. Since it allows cagey people to get cover from the ruins, despite the model not actually being in the ruin.
    Eg- Unit gets "cover" despite the ruin not being between the target and the shooting unit.

    • @SimplyWarhammer
      @SimplyWarhammer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What would you suggest is best to understand a ruins footprint?

    • @chrisg8321
      @chrisg8321 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SimplyWarhammer The outline of the ruins itself. It stops people "getting cover" from ruins whilst not being in the ruins.
      Edit: At least that was how we played it back in 3rd to 7th edition

    • @SimplyWarhammer
      @SimplyWarhammer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean for an L shaped ruin you have to be touching it but standing within it doesn't count ? Not played any earlier than 8th so don't know previous terrain rules
      tbh terrain rules are complicated so house rules will be played the majority of the time 😁

    • @chrisg8321
      @chrisg8321 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SimplyWarhammer Yeah the rulebook itself says you have to agree with your opponent about what you'd do for terrain. So technically you can do whatever, play a game as a city-scape where everything is in cover, whatever.
      What I mean is for an L-shaped ruin the footprint would be the triangle within the confines of the ruin itself. If you go by the base it allows people to sit next to the ruin (on the base) and still count as being "within" the ruins. To me that doesnt make much sense since the unit would get cover despite enemy units not having any cover within its LOS.
      For two L shaped ruins you'd have it make a box within the two L shaped ruins and the footprint would be that box, including any gap between the two pieces (assume there is ruin debris between the two L shapes).

      @@SimplyWarhammer There is an article by Goonhammer for 9th terrain and what I said is what they suggest also.
      Then again I've seen some battle reports on here where simply touching the base of the ruin counted as being "within" it ;)

      @@SimplyWarhammer Thanks for clearing that up, my last question is something we argue about alot. If you're behind a pipe and receiving light cover and someone drops in behind you are you still in light cover? even though the pipe is not between your troops and the attackers.
